  3. Great idea to see a doctor, Karen. Now that I'm getting older, I see the doctor regularly for check-ups and bloodwork. When something doesn't feel right, I make an appointment. Early detection is always key and when it turns out to be nothing, our minds aren't consumed with what could be. Great job on your one month!!! :)
  4. A very, very good video for everybody. Please take a few minutes to watch. :) https://www.quittrain.com/topic/4754-videos-addressing-relapse-prevention/?p=171920

  6. It's a double edged sword because it's what we signed up for when we made the choice to smoke and consequently became nicotine addicts. At first you think about it all the time but as time goes on, as it always does, your new normal will be not smoking. However, you'll still be a nicotine addict. Me? I never want to forget that I was a smoker because I fear the day I become complacent is the day I smoke again. You have to remember that our lives revolved around smoking - our smoking did not revolve around our lives. It's going to take some time but as with most things, time heals what has hurt us and smoking is no different. I know exactly what you mean and also know that smoking and not smoking will not always be foremost on your mind. :)
  7. Nope! Not gonna happen!
  8. Happy Birthday!!!!!
  9. Oh! Is that the Whitey Bulger movie? I saw the documentary and saw somewhere they were making a movie or something about him.

  18. Happy birthday, mod!!!
  19. I don't remember coughing up some gunk two times in one day, very small amounts but that was at least two months after I quit, if I remember correctly. I guess I had knocked out enough cilia that it took that long for them to regenerate/start working again. I remember hoping that I would be coughing up massive amounts of gunk but it wasn't hardly anything. Some people cough up a ton of crap while others only cough up a little or none. I would be more concerned if you had a cough that hung around for a long time. ;)
  20. TAC, all of the above are not extraordinary and in many cases, the norm. Guess what? People still quit. Beautiful women have nothing to do with you smoking or not. Working in a place where others smoke has nothing to do with you smoking or not and certainly not other people drinking. Quitting In A Smoking Friendly Society Video addresses the concerns of smokers who live in areas where the use of cigarettes is still the norm who think that because of the ubiquitous acceptability of smoking that quitting is close to impossible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQovglTVizs Avoiding Situations Where You Used To Smoke Video discusses the importance of facing triggers head on as opposed to the natural inclination of many to avoid situations where they used to smoke. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M681p2B-8kA Watching Others Smoke Video discussing how to watch others smoke and to use such occasions to reinforce your desire to stay smoke free. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEEk5-0kj1A
  21. Glad to see you back, TAC! PS, I changed your quit date for you. :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
