  3. Thanks for sharing your story, Stzr500. What an amazing job to stay quit with all of that on your plate to deal with; all of it major, major life issues. A lot of us say, "if I can do it, so can you". However, you can say this and send a powerful message. Your story is the perfect illustration that no matter what happens in life, smoking doesn't fix it and certainly is no help is coping with it.
  4. When you create an image gallery, the pictures can only be viewed by members, not guests or "lurkers". When you create your own gallery, the pictures will stay in your gallery and will not automatically show up on the message board, or "public forum". Once in your gallery, the pictures can be easily inserted into any of your posts. Blogs: You can now create private blogs, delete blog content, moderate your blogs etc. Full permissions have been enabled for members. If you create a blog that is not private, it is still only able to be viewed by members, not guests. If you create a private blog, it will not show up on the main page. SOS's: You can choose to follow the SOS board and each time a new thread is created, you will get an email alert.   11. This is getting a bit tedious and frankly, takes away from what we're doing here at QuitTrain®. Joel doesn't fail to mention in his videos that he never smoked. In fact, he addresses this right up front. There is no money being made. When folks dedicate themselves to helping people quit smoking and save their lives, why does it have to met with malcontent? We have all had different experiences with quitting and not a single method is THE BEST for everybody but there are some that prove to be much more effective for most people, as the data on this site and many studies show. I tried to quit by gradual withdrawal using some app and it was tortuous and I was able to cheat and in the end, it didn't work for me. If it worked for you, that's great! Nobody is going to disparage you, not here, it's not allowed, but others have the right to point out methods which prove to have overall better success rates, especially when offering a new quitter advice. I own this site, don't take donations and don't make a cent from it. I invest in it. I personally invest in your addiction and everybody else who wants to quit. This is my stance (as previously posted) on the issue and I'd like all to put it to rest once and for all as it's old news, wasted energy and takes the focus off of the addiction and onto superfluous tit-for-tat. The psychiatrist who successfully treats patients doesn't have the prerequisite to have had the same disorder in in which he/she is treating in order to see results. Through the many clinics that Joel ran through the American Cancer Society and on his own, he gained a vast and invaluable collection of data which came directly from smokers over the course of decades. He, like the Dr. helping a person cope with the devastation caused by a divorce, losing a job, a spouse or a child does not have to have experienced the same to help the patient. You know who spoke truth to me about my drug addiction to nicotine? My Dr.! He never smoked a day in his life yet he knew about this addiction and what it would take for me to quit."

  13. They say that hindsight is always 20/20, it's true. If I could go back to my youth of 21 years old, I would never, ever take a drag off of another cigarette or anything else that contained nicotine. However, at age 21, I had already been smoking off/on for 10 years. My advice to you is stop putting nicotine into your body right now. Not tomorrow, not in 15 minutes but this very moment and never, ever administer this drug again. When you reach my age, you'll look back and be thankful that you found this site and listened to those who traveled the same path before you.

He then asked me how much I wanted him to post to which I told him he could post as often as he would like to. Spam is profit driven or driven for some other nefarious purpose. Joel has never made a dime from any of his materials. His time spent here behind the scenes before he ever joined was free. He has a desire to help people quit smoking and stay quit. He's never asked for anything and to assume that he posts to drive people to YouTube or elsewhere is bananas. Do you not realize that ALL of Joel's videos were posted on this site long before he ever joined?? If click bait were the case, he would have never allowed me to do this. He encourages anybody to use his materials with the goal of helping people save their lives. Talking about inflicting bodily harm to Joel because of efforts is very telling of where some people are at. Should it get asked, QT is funded solely by me; always has and always will be. Nothing on this site came to me as free as I have to retain programmers, designers, pay for licensing of the software etc. Moreoever, QuitTrain is a Registered Trademark which was also not free, but imperative to the longevity of something that myself and few others created (the Moderators) and what was created is protected. I allow no advertisements and don't take donations etc., even though I've been asked to. Hell, I don't even allow Facebook logins because in case you didn't know, when sites allow this, they gain access to your friend list and can send adverts etc. to which I want NO PART OF. I share the same desire as Joel and my moderators to freely give time and money to help ANYBODY quit smoking and stay quit. To this, you do not have the right to make false accusations regarding the motives of those who take their time and money to help complete strangers save their lives by quitting this deadly addiction. Joel will not be posting here and that is his choice. However, he will still be in daily or weekly contact with me as he has for several years now. He has lots to offer and ways to help and I am always grateful for this. About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
