  1. No thanks, I'm good. NOPE.
  2. This is good news, Juan. You're going to get through today with no problems!
  3. NOPE, we can't have just one puff, much less one cigarette. GR8 post. :D
  4. Good Morning! Today is the day that you take your freedom back. Whatever you need to do to to not smoke, do it. We're all here so keep us updated as you can. :)
  5. Does your friend happen to work for Philip Morris? You are far too nice, Tiffany. This is why it's so important to find a support community that you feel comfortable with. Smokers, especially those that project their own guilt for smoking onto others are not the people that will help us keep our quits. You want to quit, Tiffany. You didn't smoke tonight. You were tempted, had a cigarette in your hand (that was given to you by a friend) and you put it down and didn't light it. The taste of her vile smoke wafting through the air put a bad taste in your mouth and made you feel unclean. Victory!! :) Time to make it stick this time. No more relapsing. You are not a smoker so no more torturing yourself with relapse and the constant withdrawal and feed phase. Kill it. "Get comfortable being uncomfortable" right now. You're going to think about smoking, it's normal. Hell, everything we did revolved around those damned cigarettes. That is done. I still think about smoking but there is a difference in thinking about smoking and wanting to smoke. You must remove the desire to smoke by knowing that you get none of the perceived benefits by inhaling that noxious weed. I believe in you. I know that you have it in you to quit for good. No matter how strong the urge, how crappy your day was or how excited you are and want a reward, a cigarette cannot fix or enhance any of that. Please, don't ever take a cigarette in your hands again and I don't care who offers it to you. Tomorrow is day 3 of your quit and 365 days from now you'll be one year and 3 days smober. Don't you dare, ever give an inch to this addiction ever again. :) This is the video that Trish was talking about. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEnHzV9XpL0
  6. Welcome, Amber & baby! I'm proud of you for keeping this quit. I know it wasn't easy but you did it and that little baby inside of you is loving every bit of it. :) Go Orioles!
  7. If you have any issues getting a hard copy of the book, let me know and one will be sent to you via Amazon. Congrats on two day!!!!! Don't stop now. Thanks for the update. :)
  8. Hi Juan, as you know, as nicotine addicts, we can't have "just one". You know as well as I do that the reason you think that smoking a cigarette will calm you down is because you still believe that smoking offers you some benefit. I know you're well aware, but I'm going to remind you anyway that smoking increases your heart rate, sends adrenaline coursing through your bloodstream and is physically impossible to have a calming effect. I understand the sadness from the fight you had with your Mom. Smoking will not help that and it will only add guilt. Get through this without smoking and you will have proven to yourself that you can win. You can beat this. You must win. Beat this now as you're still young and you don't want to be where you are right now 15, 20, 30 years down the road. During the smoke breaks, why don't you take your Allen Carr book and go to a quiet spot where you can focus one chapter of that book. Read each paragraph and think about what it means. Think about how you can apply it to your quit. If your breaks are short, then all the better. Focus on one or two paragraphs and fully grasp what the message is. Once you expose the lies of smoking to yourself and fully understand that you don't get a single thing of benefit from smoking, you will remove the desire to smoke. It's with this realization that when you get a craving or experience a trigger, that the struggle to stay quit is no more. The desire to smoke will be that of wanting to take a hammer and smash your knuckles with it. You won't want to smoke a cigarette anymore than you'll want to pick up that hammer. You have 2 very helpful tools in helping you accomplish your sticky quit: Your Allen Carr book and this support group. The people here know what you're going through as we're all nicotine addicts and between all of us, there isn't anything that one of us has not gone through or felt before. You can beat this, Juan. We will guide you through the forest and bring you to the road of freedom. Please check in as often as you can.--MQ
  9. LB!! I'm not the least bit surprised that you didn't smoke because I already knew that you wouldn't. You're too aware and strong to give in to any craving at this stage of your quit. It's nice to see that lady bug avatar back, typing out these wonderful posts! We missed you. :)
  10. We'll be here, every step of the way. There isn't anything that either of you are going to feel that somebody here hasn't felt. You become an non-smoker when you put out that last cigarette. Smoking does nothing for you. You're not giving anything up by quitting. We'll be waiting for your updates tomorrow...:)
  11. Once I started watching Breaking Bad, I watched all the seasons. Great series. There is going to be a spin off about Saul, the attorney and I assume Jesse and Walt's family. The dead is great as well and like you, anticipating season 4 to be released on Netflix.
  12. Hi Rowlyd, you will not be treated like that here. This is a support group with like-minded people that look out for each other. Glad to see you here and you've come to the right place. :)
  13. NOPE for this quitter.
  14. I hear ya. That "lazy ol' sun" comes up and it makes me the same when working midnights. That's why I loathe working a double while on midnights. Working all night and then having to stay over to work day shift sucks. Good luck at the hearing!
  15. It's now 3am, that's not early! lol
  16. This is an amazing piece of writing. I see this one being bumped quite often.
  17. Hi Becca! Thanks for stopping by and of course we don't mind. This is an open forum for anybody who wishes to use it. :)
  18. Hey, I just noticed something, doesn't this smiley have a slight resemblance to to HAT? :o
  19. hahahahahaha That's what is was, "handsome beast" that I read the other morning when it made me almost spit coffee all over my computer screen. You're funny as heck, man.
  20. Yes, and a huge thank you to TAC for his help in this area!!!!
  21. That was pretty funny. When it came to the part about grabbing one of the swords from the living room and start hacking away all I could think of "oh shit" what's going to happen next. hahahaha

  23. Not only is not true, Chuck Hagel announced that they're considering a ban on selling cigarettes on all military bases. http://nypost.com/2014/04/03/the-cigarette-at-war/
  24. ahahahahahaha I don't know why this made me laugh, I guess it's the way you worded it. :o
  25. I appreciate it, but the thanks really goes to the moderators and all the members for creating this community. I just provided the venue, the atmosphere is the result of every single member here. So in that, a HUGE thank you to everybody here!:)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
