  1. Yes, when I was 15 and out past curfew with some older friends who were out tearing up the roads. While we were out, I stepped in dog doo and they made me put my shoes in the trunk of the car. They were speeding and got pulled over. The cop asked me how old I was and I told him. Then he asked me why my shoes were off. So I told him. One of his eyebrows raised while the other stayed still. Then, the dude driving said "I'm in the junior police cadets and I know my rights". With that, I hung my head. I was brought into the police station and my parents picked me up, shoeless and in a lot trouble.
  2. A friend told me the same thing when I relapsed only idiot wasn't his choice of words. Only friends will care enough to say such things because they know you need a kick in the pants and will accept it. Any lurkers out there, this is an example of a friend who is helping another friend and showing some tough love. It's coming from a caring place. This is why finding a support group, being active in it, honest and upfront is so important in beating this addiction. If you're lurking and thinking about quitting or need a positive influence to stay quit, we'd love to have you and get to know you. It's because of threads like this, that Holski will beat this addiction once and for all.
  3. Whoah. Wait. Shut the front door! Where did you watch season 4?
  4. Just out of principal, the Sarge needs to throw in the pic of the beard as he's jumping from the plane.
  5. Looks like you're pulling down on your pack and she's pushing up on her's. lol Just kidding. Cool pics.
  6. The Mrs. Sarge, her pack. It looks much heavier than the one on your back. chewy stewie
  7. Yes, smoking is selfish, that's for certain. We all lose ourselves from time-to-time and find ourselves in places that are very uncomfortable. That will never change whether you smoke or not. What what will change once you break the cycle of smoking/quitting/smoking/quitting, is that your self-confidence will soar and when you can tackle nicotine addiction, you can tackle anything in life without smoking. Anything. Bet you can't name one single thing that you can't get through without smoking because there are millions of others who have gone through anything you can imagine without ever smoking. Have you watched any of the smoking documentaries or read through the newbie database? You can break this vicious cycle and stay quit. If a numbskull like me can quit, I'm positive that you can. I am living proof that anybody can quit. :)
  8. Sorry that you relapsed, Holski. You don't have to grasp the concept of "there is nothing to benefit from smoking" to quit. What you do need to grasp around that head of yours as you stand at the foot of the mighty Wasatch is that you're a nicotine addict and you're going to miss smoking and even think about it from time-to-time and probably all the time at the beginning. Let me fill you in on a little something about myself. I still associate smoking with driving, cutting the grass, digging holes for landscaping, being mad, sad, happy and bored. I associate smoking with just about everything because I used to smoke while I experienced everything that comes along with doing business on planet earth. Why should you be any different and be allowed to get away with not associating smoking with anything pleasant and only the bad stuff? That is not what you or I signed up for when we chose to become nicotine addicts. You don't get to make your own rules. What you're struggling with are the consequences of being a nicotine addict. Smoking is killing you and the sooner you stop poisoning yourself the sooner your body can start healing itself from the torture you're putting your lungs, heart, arteries, kidneys, brain and self-confidence (to name just a few) through. If you have to force your quit then by all means force it and do it ruthlessly. Your quits, your relapses and your new quit has nothing to do with how we feel about you. We all love you and care about you as a person but also about your quit because your quit, or lack of one, is what we're here for. We care about you and you should be nervous because that tells me that you care as well. You need to quit. You know how to quit. The time has come to stay quit and that, my friend, is where you'll need to dig deep and no matter what happens, don't smoke. I don't care how sad, mad or whiny you become because you can't get your way and allow yourself to smoke. Don't smoke. Don't smoke. There have been times that I have been as low as the tread on my shoes and yes, I thought about smoking and was not the least bit surprised that I had thought about it. I expected to think about it because I am an addict. But for me, although I think about smoking, I don't want to smoke and the rare occasions that I think I do, I just don't. To have this mindset you have earn it by putting in the time. You don't just get to have it. You worked hard to become an addict now work hard to break that addiction. I don't know why you don't just quit now but that's beside the point. I quit at 7 pm. Anyway, once you quit on 5-10-2014 (this is called your quit date :)), please make a thread (or create a blog on this site) so you can hold yourself accountable and keep a journal as you embark on your sticky quit. Make 5-10-2014 the day you will remember for the rest of your life. That, my friend, starts tomorrow.
  9. A nod to The Sarge's Clam Digger's. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G536Mb9RsUQ
  10. Just for Mike. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fp0rt8nGNI
  11. Damn nice front yard with some nice landscaping! Looks like a nice place to drink some lemon breezy or or enjoy some chewy stewy.
  12. Two or three days ago, Runningwithwolves let me know that it was time for her to move on and asked to have her account deleted. I've made the decision that no accounts will be deleted. I'll disable them, move them to a different category, but not delete. Too much information get's lost, not to mention the member may want to return at a later date. I can hide their information etc. if they want but I will not delete the account unless it's something very pressing i.e., legal issues or something extreme like that. Runningwithwolves account is in the guest category should she ever decide to return, all of her posts etc. will be here. She is still able to view the forum, sign into her account etc. If I see her back on the board, she'll be moved back to the member category, unless she tells me otherwise. Members are allowed to delete their own blogs so if she's done that (I don't even know if she had one or not) it won't be able to be retrieved. Members are free to come and go as they please but I am very, very hesitant to delete somebody's account because it doesn't accomplish anything.
  13. It was here but went away with the restore. Nope for me.
  14. Congrats, DJ and hubby! Reno doesn't have anything on you. :yahoo:
  15. Well, you were thrown to the wolves and came out victorious. I'm sure the little trigger here and there will be nothing to deal with compared to Reno. How long did you leave your head hanging out of the taxi? I bet everybody thought the cabby let one rip and you were just trying to get fresh air. lol
  16. Yep, I agree. It's never easy saying goodbye but it sure is a pleasant surprise seeing a post from someone passing our way again.
  17. I didn't realize she had undies on. I just assumed that she didn't and that's why there were any front shots for more than a nanosecond. Some things paint just can't hide, especially on a dude.
  18. No way a guy could pull that off. So no, I wouldn't. Besides, I wear blue Dickies and flannel shirts everyday so the whole skinny jean thing doesn't fit my classy, upscale attire. lol
  19. No smoking for me today. The yard work, shoveling dirt etc. is enough to put a strain on me. The thought of smoking right now makes me want to gag.
  20. You gotta blare this song on your first cruise down the highway in your new RV. It just wouldn't be right if you didn't. :music2:

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
