Thanks everyone! I’ve been thinking about change lately and pondering about why it is so difficult for some, including me. In my own family in the last year or so I’ve lost one brother because he couldn’t / wouldn’t change and had another save himself by changing for the better. Eleven years ago I changed by quitting smoking and I know now if I hadn’t, I’d be suffering from a slew of health consequences. Humans are predisposed to sameness and routine. It allows us to understand our world by comparison to what we have previously experienced. Quitting smoking shows us that we can create a new, better reality. This is a powerful thing that we can apply to other areas of our lives; I’ve seen it many times on this forum. For new quitters, perhaps the best advice I’ve given is “Jump!” Take a leap of faith. Don’t be afraid. You can do this, you can change. It is so worth it. Both Janet723 and I are well. Janet723 is helped by our two Siamese cats, Bobo (ExecutiveAssistant) and Ozzy (Junior Executive Assistant). They both enjoy computing by walking on the keyboard. At work I am nearly done with another patent and retirement is getting closer. Here’s a song I like: https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=DeuqQ1aipTY&list=RDAMVMDeuqQ1aipTY1 point

Gday Yep near on 9 years Nico free. It was nearly $1 a cig back then and now over $1.50 a cig. Mind numbing when you realise as an addict you have to find that money ever day. You can’t take a day off from addiction you’ve got to feed it. In Australia now there’s a regular black market of under the counter cigarettes and vaps. Tax free The few folk I know that still smoke buy these. They come from china from japan from the Middle East. Apparently you never know what you’ll get next. And the quality how much nicotine etc is pot luck. Just like illegal drugs one day they are cut down and next extra strong. Vaps are legal to sell but must not contain nicotine. Of course that doesn’t happen and a new generation of nicotine addicts are here. Of course crime is attracted to this easy money. Owning a smoke shop also gives you a perfect way to wash your illegal earnings through a legit business . So the high prices aren’t perfect but you’ve got to admit that that our smoking rate is very low. It’s only part of the the slow change that has made smoking an antisocial thing and not looked down upon. You want to see the disbelief from people when you admitt to being an ex smoker. They just can’t believe it. Still I’m not a there to impress the never smokers and I do love the smoker. I’ll never give them a hard time, or lecture them. I just let them know I’m an ex smoker and leave it at that. When they want to talk they will. They get enough from the non smokers without me adding to there misery’s1 point
