  1. After eating way too much, I can skip the smoke and go straight to the self-loathing. Seriously though, it's been forever since I checked in with this group. I sincerely hope that all of you that have new quits will stick with it. It's been over 7 years since I had a smoke and I can honestly tell you that I rarely think about it or even remember that I smoked at all. And believe me, I loved smoking as much as anyone (pack a day for 30 years). If I can quit and stay quit, anyone can. Just like you've probably committed to not jumping in front of moving busses or putting your arm into a wood chipper (I hope), just commit to not smoking 100% and you can't fail. Get your head right and success is inevitable. All you have to do is not smoke.

  9. Hi @catsinnc Welcome aboard the train! So glad that you found us. This is my 2nd time quitting and the first time I used Chantix but I didn't know it was still on the market. You seem to be doing quit well, and that's great. Come on here a lot and take advantage of all the info. There is even a game section that you might like, so go and check that out. Yes, definitely throw away the cigs in the freezer! You don't want any sort of reminder lurking around. Keep coming on here as you will find that we are a great bunch of people. We all know what it's like to get the withdrawal symptoms but the longer you are quit, the less they will become. Good luck to you and have a great day!

I still think about being a non-smoker all day and I like the feeling! Thank you all for your inspirations and cheers and to Mac#23....Go Bills! I was born and raised in Buffalo. Tonawanda and then Williamsville! Let's all keep it up!

  12. Hi Everyone! I am so happy to have found this board! My last cig was Wednesday at 8:00 pm and it is now Sunday at 2:00 pm! I am on Chantix (started on 4/14). Other than being so tired (day and night) I feel OK, sort of! I have hidden 4 cigs in the freezer and have been tempted but so far I've resisted and I hope to stay that way! It really helps that my husband quit a couple or 3 weeks before me, cold turkey. Anyway, I look forward to reading more and sharing more since this helps too!

  14. Hi folks my computer broke tonight so I won’t be on much until I can get a new one. Typing this from my phone but it’s not easy. The computer was 10 years old and never gave me a problem until I rebooted it tonight. I guess it was time. Anyway. I hope to get a new computer soon.

  16. That's great news @catsinnc! Sounds like the Chantix is really working well for you & that's GREAT! I like your comment about seeing yourself as a non-smoker and feeling good about that. A Positive, forward looking attitude is a huge tool in accomplishing your goal. Keep up the great work

  20. 18 hours in...and 8 of those were sleeping....I have my first hurdle coming up. Its time for my typical Sat morning errands. Driving is a huge trigger for me. I never vaped in the house so the thought of being out of the house always excited me as I was getting ready to go. "Its almost time!" I'm about to get in the shower and start getting ready and my brain is already going. Everytime I have a craving...and they are very mild on Chantix, they are thoughts not really physical cravings...I tell myself "I don't need nicotine. I am healthy". Reframing how I think about nicotine. Insanely cold ice water helps me a lot too so I'll bring some of that. Wish me luck. I'll check in as I go along and thank you again for your support in my recovery.

  26. It is no secret here that I was a secret smoker. I had Febreze stashed in my car. Mints, gum, breath strips & sprays spilled out of every pocket of my purse and clothing. My hands aged prematurely from the constant hand washing. You get the picture. When asked for a ride from coworkers, family or friends that didn’t know my dirty secret addiction— extreme panic. I’d make up some excuse why I needed to go alone. Or I’d douse every fiber in my car with Febreze, Lysol, dryer sheets…I’d get the microfiber cloth from my console and wipe everything down- no ashes to be seen! What a stressful nightmare to be asked to give someone a ride!!! What!?!?! Today I worked in the office. A coworker asked for a ride home. I said “Sure!” and continued on with my work. No laps around the block airing out my car, or flooding it with Febreze. Oh sweet smoke-free freedom how I love thee!!! Seven years and counting feels & smells great!! NOPE! L4L

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
