  4. We are spending a lot of time fox-watching these days. Our resident red fox couple had 9 (!) babies this year. They are about 8 weeks old now and are rowdy, playful, curious critters… and they have made a den under our shed in our back yard. Total mayhem. They are practicing stalking and pouncing (on each other) and spend a lot of time tossing around play “prey” of sticks and leaves and an old squirrel tail (ew). They also bury their invented toys, then dig them up again, then rebury them. And they get the zoomies and run around like miniature maniacs. Our flower beds are pretty much toast. But we don’t mind. The parents are attentive and incredibly patient, even when all 9 kits are being super annoying… biting, tugging on their tails, etc. We know the odds of all 9 kits surviving are slim, so we are trying not to get attached. But they are too adorable for words. We are smitten in spite of ourselves.

  7. Amazing @DenaliBlues! You are so lucky! Last year I had coyotes take up residence under a silo. Stressful.

  9. Out of all the wild animals around I find foxes fascinating. Haven't had much opportunity to see them much though and certainly not up close and with a bunch of newborns. How fortunate you guys are that they're right there at your house!

  10. Hi everyone, I threw my last ecig in the trash at the grocery store at noon today. I’ve been on Chantix for a few weeks. It’s time. Only two mild thoughts (not physical cravings) so far. Thinking positive. I have quit many times. Twice for a year each time. It’s usually anger that takes me back. Then it’s years before I’m ready to try again. I’m ready to stop the insanity.

  11. Went for a drive close to where I live today and noticed the peach trees are in full bloom now. I wasn't too surprised because the pear tree in my back yard has also just bloomed this week. Just had my phone so the pic doesn't do them justice. They were a glorious pink!

  12. Welcome back, Michelle. You have tried to quit many times, this time it needs to be your forever quit. Please stick around, lots of support and knowledge you can get here. Just remember, nothing good comes from smoking. It is just a short term illusionn of relief but really it just adds to your stress level by continuing to feed the addiction. Quitting is the best thing you can do long term. Oncce you quit for good, things do get a whole lot better and it is worth the early struggles. You should be able to edit your quit date by clicking your name in the top right navigation (if you are on a laptop or PC), click on "Edit Profile" at the top, and then the screen that appears should show you your quit date. You can edit it there. There is also a tab at the top that says "Ticker" which will show you how to create a new ticker. Hope that helps and hope you stick around. Quitting smoking is definitely doable and something you really need to do, Michelle.

  13. Welcome back! Hope you can remain focused on all the things you stated above and do it long term. That's what's required for a long term success! Reread all you can here just to keep all the quit info fresh in your mind and ask away about anything you like or just come to vent as needed. Your seat is still open here on the train. I'll go clean the stuff off that I stored there for awhile To edit your quit date; click on your profile pic at the top of the main page then click; edit profile. Scroll down & you'll see "Quit Date". Change your date and look to see if you need to OK it somewhere at the bottom of the page.

  24. One of the first treats I gave myself (with the money I saved from quitting) was having my car professionally cleaned. The fresh smell helped to re-enforce my quit as I drove to and from work. I could also open my windows without worrying about ashes flying everywhere.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
