  1. Thanks everyone. I had a quiet reflective day. Within the past several weeks I found myself apologizing to my kids, grands, and those that I am closest to for having subjected them to my smelly and filthy habit. For not always being there or not being there 100% because I lived my life around my habit, not them. So many opportunities to live, love, and laugh missed and gone forever. But I can be here, now. I can help others gain and keep their freedom from smoking. Although we can’t regain the time we’ve lost, we most assuredly can ensure living without regard to nicotine’s demands on our time, mindset, health, and finances. I appreciate everyone here so very much. Thank you all again.

  3. Hello Everyone, Just saying hi to everyone. I just started my quit today. I've quit before and always went back, but I am determined to stay quit this time for my health. I'm just tired of coughing, smelling like smoke, and being short of breath all the time. I hope I can get some help along the way as well as offer it.

  5. NOPE. (Not one puff ever whatever set of time I find myself in. I pledge nope for the harsh times AND also pledge nope, not one puff ever, for the "easy" times when I might be complacent and let my guard down - which shall not happen and for that i say not one puff Ever)

  8. Welcome aboard, @OnlyPink!! You have come to the right place to help you give up smoking for good. Read all you can on addiction and withdrawal… knowledge is power and will help your quit succeed. Stay busy and remember that the discomfort of the early days is temporary. Sharing a lot on the board also helps to reinforce your quit. Addiction thrives in isolation, but being part of a community helps to encourage healing. All of us here on the Quit Train have been through the process and are here to help. You can do this, @OnlyPink. Freedom awaits!

  9. Think about it. You are now officially a non smoker. You quit smoking 2 days ago. Carbon monoxide is now out of your body In 1 more day your body will be nicotine free. You are no longer a smoker unless you decide to start smoking. Congratulations now you just need to remain a non smoker.

  14. There were times over my life that I was just out of cigarettes or just literally didn’t have the means to buy cigarettes, but the one thing I refused to do was to bum. I just couldn’t make myself do it. There was a tiny part of me that just refused to totally debase myself and beg for cigarettes. Pride? Fooling myself into thinking I had some control over my habit? A part of me desperately fighting against being completely owned by my addiction? I don’t know why, but that tiny part of me and QuitTrain are the reasons I am celebrating my 3rd anniversary of being free! You can do this. Stick around!

  17. First of all, welcome to you all and I hope you get comfortable here quickly. We are all seeking the same thing, to beat this terrible addiction. Please note, especially for those with "young quits", that we do have an SOS page here. You'll see it at the top of the main board page. Read the pinned intro there please (it's short and to the point). You'll also see a pinned thread called "Pre Respond to Your Own SOS". I would recommend that you post something up there that you can quickly go to and read should you ever have a moment of overwhelming urge to smoke. My recommendation would be to make your post long enough that it takes you a while to read it. Enough time for the urge to die down a little and have some content in there that will be compelling to you. Doesn't have to mean anything to anyone else - only you. Hopefully, you never have to use this but, it's there to help save your quit :) thanks, R.

  20. Well said gus! Until we've been quit for awhile we just don't realize how many of life's precious moments we lost over the years being a slave to our addiction. Feels good & right that we can atone for that in some way now. Yet another part of the healing process we could not even have imagined when we took that first step.

  28. Sazerac Quit Date: October 23, 2013, A Good Day to be Free. Posted June 4, 2016 Please, Take Your LIVES Seriously ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In 'real' life and here on the QTrain, I see people being careless about their lives and their quit, like they have all the time in the world ! 'I'll quit next week, maybe tomorrow, I'll quit again sometime'. Are they not understanding how dangerous smoking is ? It's a friggin' Slow Suicide ! The ramifications are Horrible. This is no joke. Ask our beautiful friend, Doreen ! I, too, used to be casual about quitting, casual about smoking. so, it is no surprise to see others in Denial. I wasn't listening to any kind of Sense, or Logic, or TRUTH, either. Then, suddenly, I 'got it' and thanks to the information here, I educated myself about Nicotine Addiction. After that, there was simply no other choice except to Quit and be Quick about it ! I would no longer live as a Slave, or die as one either ! I wish I could give that Eureka moment to everybody struggling with addiction but, I don't know what happened or why. At a certain point, I listened and Understood and I give this to you, Understand your addiction, and Be Free of it. Your Lives are Precious. About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
