  3. Glad to hear you didn't 'cave to the crave' @QuittingGirl! Sudden unexpected upsets in life can, and usually do, create an extreme craving to smoke. I think the issue is we still feel deep down inside that lighting up a smoke will somehow fix everything in our life that goes wrong but the truth is it won't! The good news is that having been through this experience, your mind won't likely think about having a smoke next time something similar happens. I'm glad hubby was OK! Things can be replaced ... people can't be.

  5. Hi everyone! Ohhh boy can I use a cigarette today!!! My husband was in a car accident a few hours ago!! THANKFULLY HE IS OK!! THANK GOD!!! The damage is bad to the car but not as bad as I thought it would be when he called me to tell me. The accident was with the car that I use, a very old car with low mileage. The car that he uses which is new had a tire leak so he had to use mine until he could get the tire fixed. Again, THANKFULLY HE IS OK!!!! But, it is very upsetting anyway. I'm sure the insurance company will total out the car even though it only has 58,000 miles on it, but it's 19 years old. But, I can go for a cigarette, and my mom who lives downstairs from me smokes, and I could have snuck one of hers (she wouldn't give me one, if I asked), but I chose not to. Smoking won't make the damage on the car go away, so what's the point!!! I am very happy that I didn't take a cigarette! And, the other night I dreamt that I smoked 2 of them, see previous post!

  7. That sucks @QuittingGirl, thankful that your hubby is ok though. I had the same thing happen to my 13 year old car with only 36,000 or so miles on it. And yes, the insurance Co did total it. I was devastated but as it turned out I purchased a car that was only two years old and looked just like my old SUV and I love it . Hopefully you'll find that too. I'm very glad that you realized that giving up your awesome quit wasn't going to do a dang bit of good or change the situation so well done ☺. Oh and give your momma a hug for not giving you a cigarette if you asked!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
