You are amazing SP! You’ve come so far in such a short period of time. I love to see it when the chains are completely broken and fall free of one’s mind. Beautiful!5 points

congratulations @Slow progress that first month is a monumental achievement. Give yourself a pat on the back and a big hug then get to work on that second month. You have proven that you don't need the cigarettes. Don't it feel good to be strong?5 points

I see lots of long term quits of people whom I remember from the early days of my quit,...... Congratulations! To all the newbies, whether you are brand new to your quit or you have already crossed many milestones.......... 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, a holiday, an anniversary, that 1st cigarette of the day, the one before bed, after eating, a stressful situation, an excuse that you powered through.....whatever it may be....I hope that you are proud.....i hope that you are so excited about the strength that you possess...I hope you know what a rock star you are for committing to your quit and making it a top priority. The only way over it is through it.....you are doing it. Congratulations!!! I may not visit the board often, but I do think of the folks here (and my former board) that were such a huge part of my success. When people ask how I finally achieved my sticky quit, I always talk about how this online group educated me and supported me. Absolutely picked me up, held me up and never gave up on me. CONGRATULATIONS TO ONE AND ALL3 points

It’s that first step I can’t seem to take but reading your message about taking the NOPE pledge to commit to one non smoking day makes it seem a BIT less scary!3 points

Thanks SP!! I take it one day at a time. I still get the urges but they are definitely not as bad as that first week. I look forward to the day when I don't get any urges at all anymore!3 points

Well I’m over a month in already! if there’s anybody in the early stages, or just reading around wanting to quit - the only advice I would give is to go for it! It’s hard but not impossible! Use this site -:post often and get support - you will need it! After only even a month I don’t miss smoking. I no longer constantly think about cigarettes and I’m really thankful every day that I can breathe easily…. Sign up to nope - it’s only committing you to non smoking for 1 day - if it gets terrible, you can smoke the following day - BUT you won’t want to! the people here are really what makes the difference - such a supportive group of people who have all been through the same thing!3 points

G’day You’ll come the realise those urges come along, full of urgency, full of lies threats, hateful things. Let them try, know that in 10 mins you’ll be still here and they will not be. Next time you meet that particular urge it will not be as strong, its power is weak. It knows its hold over you is slipping and getting weaker every time you meet. I still remember that first cig of the day. Once it was all powerful and scary. Cause I met it so regularly it was one of the first to lose its power. Hang in there, don’t be fearful of urges every time you meet there powers lessen and fade.2 points

G’day Never made the NOPE pledge at first. The Ever bit was the hurdle for me. Lost to many quits in the past. Realised in the end the real important bit was the Not One. Some times it’s “not one puff”just for a minute, cause that’s all you can handle . It expands as you get stronger to hours and whole days. For me now it’s expanded to EVER!!! That means my whole life and I’m not afraid to say it. I’m a nicotine addict and will always be that. I don’t take that first puff cause if I do I’ll be straight back to where I was before and that was a smoker wishing I was where I am Now! NO. Not One.1 point

NOPE I’m mot going to smoke this minute… or this hour… or this day. It can help quitting feel more attainable at first.1 point
