  1. Thanks @johnny5 for starting this thread for me. And thank you all for the kind words and congratulations. It made my day These years go by so quickly and it gives me purpose to be able to assure someone just starting their quit that they can do it. As they say, it takes a village and in our case it takes a train full to raise a quitter. There is no better group to help a person quit smoking than a group of people who have done it and know what you are going through because chances are they went through it too. Thanks again you guys, you're the best!

  3. So sorry that you have shingles....I had it a few years ago and I know exactly what you are going through. The pain is just horrible. But, you can get antiviral meds and painkillers from your doctor. That's what I did and I was only in bad pain for 1 day. Go to your doc today, if you can. Glad you haven't smoked, because it certainly wouldn't help at all!

  11. I totally thought the same thing Leap, even like 30-ish days in I researched what vape to buy to help w quitting. Wackadoodle. It’s literally the addiction effing w your head. It’s literally the cigs effing w your head. Once they’re out you get the same “ahh” feelings from real life things even stupid little things lol that we think we get from cigs. The cigs put a chokehold on u to make us think we can never quit. It’s so much easier than we make it out in our heads. Jill’s totally right in that it really sucks for a while and then it gets better….way better.

  21. DAY 22 Still going strong. Have shingles and the worst pain in the world.not even thinking of smoking but ingesting edibles 24/7 to try and dull the pain. It’s shitty today - well really the last few days - can’t sit, can’t sleep but I haven’t smoked! oh and we also have forest fires so waiting to see if we have to evacuate! Give me strength.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
