Good morning everyone - I am feeling really good after making it through the work week and just sitting here sipping coffee, reading through a lot of older posts. So much good/useful information shared on the train here, just amazing. Had one major exhilarating event this week: Wifee called and said she had rear ended another car, then said I got to go and hung up! I tried calling her back, NO ANSWER!!!.....my son and I were texting trying to meet up for lunch, I text him mom was in an auto accident and I cannot get ahold of her. So we are both racing/heading to Scottsdale where she works. (Now I am pumped full of adrenaline, really wanting a smoke, mouth full of peppermint candies, trying to do breathing exercises, while racing across town) then my son calls, has talked to his mom and she backed into a parked car, everything was ok and not a lot of damage to the cars. I am now angry! with a mouth full of mints, trying breathing exercises....why did she answer his call not mine, how is rear ending someone similar to, backing into a parked car!!!!! Anyway, I really, really, really wanted a smoke but did not and I did get to meet up with my son for lunch. Also - I do not recommend filling your mouth with mints and trying to do breathing exercises.5 points

I am almost at twelve months. I know there is no way I could have done it without the people here. You can talk about anything here. We all have challenges in our everyday lives that we would like to think that we have to smoke to get thru it. That is not true, I would come here and just spew all that out. Everyone would tell me it will be okay, you will get thru it. So far, so good, and I did not even have to pay for a therapist. LOL They are all gems, they just don't know it. You will see!!5 points

G’day Thats so sweet of you to say. Thank you! I’ve had my sweetheart look after me. It’s hard for us both. She is clear and I have to quarantine away from her. She’s been my rock. Cant buy her flowers cause I’m yet to get out of quarantine so this is the best of them from my mid winter garden. They are not “store bought” but we’ve brought up two boys without “store bought” so I’m shore she’ll like them…. regards Chris2 points

I am so glad you are feeling better. I have avoided it so far and I am scared this new strain might be the one that gets me. I wish I could have been there to fix you that good breakfast and a lot of comfort food that would bring back your strength. Everyone should be pampered when they are that ill. Take care and keep us updated.2 points

Just thought I would check in here. It’s been a while. I’m just a few weeks shy of 1.5 years smoke free! Still super proud of myself. Still no cravings at all! I’ve gained some weight and that’s a total bummer, but it’s better than lung cancer. The anxiety I was struggling with has gotten to a more manageable level and I’ve been able to be more social (I had debilitating anxiety over covid). Still not good with loads of people not masking but baby steps all around. Either way I’m winning! Just wanted to give some encouragement to anyone just starting on their journey! You can do this! If I could quit, cold turkey, after almost 20 years of a pack a day, you totally can do this!1 point

I have tried quitting several times and failed, and I have realized I cannot do it alone. Sadly, I am a secret smoker so I don't really know how to talk to anyone about it IRL. But, reading all your posts on this forum makes me feel less lonely and gives me more confidence. Here's to the start of my quit journey1 point

Strippers in particular. Many a young lady shook their biscuits to "Pour Some Sugar On Me" back in the day. It's not important how I know this! Here's another strip club song. And the band is from Australia, so it's kind of in keeping with Jo's theme of Aussie artists...1 point

Went on a two week road trip, up the coast to Oregon, visited John’s relatives, and walked the beach. Also hiked in the Redwoods. We also spent 5 days at my home. Had fun, but missed my power walking workouts. I did resume them, as soon as we returned to his ranch ( which he calls “our ranch”). My stamina did not seem to suffer much. I was able to resume my workouts at the same speed and incline, as before I left. I am still doing exactly 2 miles a day, at a max speed of 3.8 mph, and a max incline of 6%. John worries that I am pushing myself too hard, for my age, but I told him that as long as I can carry on a normal conversation, while working out, I’m fine.1 point

G’day Well that wasn’t what I would call a fun 5 days. I was kinda hoping if I got the COVID I’d have a mild dose but it seems that commodities like COPD and strokes and cancer do count. I ended up getting monitored at home. It was oxygen meters and thermometers and constant phone calls from my GP and various nurses. They took away all my meds and put me on a special course of antivirals. I’m grateful for those recon they got me through. Just kept above the dreaded 90 on the oxygen level and the ambulance at the door to drag me off to hospital. I’ve spent my time in tracky daks in a blanket sitting up in a chair. Couldn’t lay down and fall asleep if you did your lungs would start to fill and you’d wake and cough to clear your lungs to breath. The pain in my chest was bad .. every cough was so painful. I though I was pretty tough but I’m not. Recon I’m through the worst of it. I’m still coughing up fur balls but no pain. Starving hungry gunna have a big breakfast eggs bacon sausage grilled tomatoe….mmmm. Please don’t feel sorry for me I’m on the mend. Please be careful. This COVID is pretty serious especially if you’ve got any other health problems. Stay Safe PS if you haven’t yet, do yourself a favour…. Give the smokes away0 points
