  2. @Mee, your new backsplash looks wonderful, very spiffy! DIY-ing projects can save money and be gratifying... except when they become expensive and super aggravating. My partner and I are currently debating whether to hire someone to bury our gutter/sump pump drainage pipe (her vote), or whether I'm going to spend a weekend in the back yard wielding gravel and a shovel (my vote). Secretly, I hope she wins the argument. Anyway, congrats on powering through your troubles and getting a beautiful end result. Hopefully you'll feel a glow of pride every time you use your kitchen.

  9. Cleaning up from our big kitchen project of tiling. I said I would post a finished picture. Boy was this a job. We had painted the kitchen cabinets and got new countertops. It was hard enough picking a tile because the counter tops seemed so busy in color. We have been here 32 years and definitely needed a redo.

  21. After doing tile, I admire anyone that does it. I am one that likes to get in there and make it look new fast. We were torn up for over a week. I am thankful my husband will try anything (he is too cheap to pay anyone).

  23. here is something to consider...plants cannot move so to protect themselves they produce toxins that are harmful to the animals that ingest them. The nicotine in the tobacco plant is actually a pesticide that the tobacco creates to kill the animals that would eat or in this case smoke it. so the next time you have a crave for a cigarette just remember that is the tobacco plant trying to kill you. create a picture in your mind with that theme and see if it helps take the edge off of those craves. ditto that for caffeine

  26. I want to smoke too! The cold hard truth is I can't. The minute the doctor told me a cat scan revealed the beginnings of emphysema I knew there was no more telling myself smoking was okay. Push came to shove, the cat was out of the bag, the cookie crumbled, and I had to face the consequences of my actions over the last 40 years. Sounds like the Doc has told you, you are on a one way road to a bad head on collision. Your family is in the car with you. If this was literally happening while you were driving you would get off at the next exit. You have done it before, you know you can do it. Please save yourself and your family from heartbreak. Accept it as the only choice!

  34. Hang tough Kdad. You can get through this. We travelled our journeys together during your first quit. I know you have the fortitude to do this. I'm thinking your lapses are more about being down in life. You seem to have had a lot that has happened, including the pandemic. Cigarettes do nothing for you. You are worthy of a smoke free life. We are here for you!

  35. The more of these you get past the easier it gets. Just keep reminding yourself of how you were able to quit for a year and if you can do it before you can do it again. I use to constantly repeat "this too shall pass" and "all good(?) things must come to an end". I also equated it to stuff I had outgrown like riding dirt bikes or amusement park rides. I outgrew smoking as well...

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
