  1. Thank you all so much . When I woke this morning, I could hardly believe that I was starting my 5th year today, it has been an amazing journey so far , and without a doubt I wouldn’t be where i am today without coming on here and noping and getting encouragement from everyone. I’ve really enjoyed being here, and will continue to be here, as I love to see all the new quitters doing well, as well as all the people ahead of me staying quit, it’s so encouraging. My life is so much better as a non smoker. I have a lovely nearly 3 year old granddaughter who has never known a stinky nanny, and twin grandsons due next month. Life is good. my hope is for those behind me to keep going, it really does get better. I am rooting for you

  8. Well - as practice quits go, those are pretty good. You can definitely quit. You know the drill. You can do nothing about the minute just passed, only the one you're in. don't put anything in your mouth and set fire to it - and you'll be fine.

  9. Patch is like torture. But if it’s working then good for you. I would consider it one of the hardest ways to quit. Constant nicotine even at low level has to trigger all kinds of troubles. Didn’t work for me. But nothing worked for me until this group and a decision to never put it in mouth again. as for original poster…..how to say this in the nicest bakon way and not come off as an asshole…..your three months in….quit romantic thoughts of it….buck up as an adult who is now a nonsmoker and not whining spoiled baby….ok I failed. I sound like an asshole. But really you made the hardest three months, past the first week, second week, and then month troubles….your like a strongman in the gym now. Act like it. Put your head up, reach down and straighten your big girl undies and walk proudly out into the world singing praises to yourself….looking back and wishing is about as useful as lighting farts on fire. Nobody plows a straight field looking backwards…so let’s go missy…move positive and stronger today. asshat out.

  15. Well - going forward, you might find the SOS board more use if you post before you smoke. Why did you smoke?

  17. KDAD, glad you are back. I agree....post an SOS before you smoke! People will come out of the woodwork to help and support you!! I needed to use the SOS before and they stayed with me until I was feeling steady again, it's quite amazing. Since you are home all the time, spend a majority of your time here. I was glued to my forum, it was my saving grace. If you don't want to post, then read or play games or watch videos. It's always your decision to smoke or not. Commit to your sticky quit - you can do it - you can! And please get rid of the cigarettes, ash trays and lighters!! Do you have a mantra that resonates with you? (Mine was Smoking Is Not An Option....No Matter What) It's tough but doable!!!!

  18. Don't forget to make a new ticker @KdadKdad, but maybe take a screenshot of your old one before you delete it so you can see what you gave up and refer back to it as needed to stick with your quit.....

  21. Welcome back, @Kdad I'm sorry you quit but I'm glad you are back. I can tell you from first-hand experience that the cycle you are in, quit/relapse/quit/relapse really sucks. It is torture. You are miserable when you are smoking and you know you need to quit and that you would be better off if you quit. You quit for a certain amount of time, keep thinking about smoking, and eventually relapse. The thing you need to do is quit and quit for good. In fact, I think I may have said this exact thing the last time you came back from a relapse. Time to quit for good and quit torturing yourself. You may struggle early on but you'll be much better off long-term. Remember and believe the fact that smoking does absolutely nothing positive for you. All the supposed benefits to smoking are lies. There is no downside to quitting but there are tons of downsides to staying a smoker. Stick close to this site. Pledge NOPE (Not One Puff Ever) daily and mean it. Reach out for help BEFORE you smoke. Read up on info about nicotine addiction here. Time to quit, @Kdad You can do this.

  23. @KdadHi! I'm glad you are here. Like you, I have relapsed before but this time I am determined not to get caught up in the loop of smoking. Its tedious and robs me (and everyone around me) of joy. I guess what I would say that if you are alone, all the more reason to reach out to people on the internet. I am also involved in NicA and they have meetings at all hours, on zoom and another application called Paltalk. People to talk to and share with so we don't go back to our old "friend" nicotine.

  27. You need to get rid of the smokes you have, totally destroyed or down the toilet. I know how hard it is be alone all the time. You did not smoke because you were bored, you smoked because you are seeking comfort of some kind. I know I always think I would feel better if I could just smoke. I am 7 months in and I still think about it everyday. The fact is I do feel physically better but not mentally better yet. Everything is still a work in process. I am not willing to give up. I will not! You know you can do it. You will reach your goal and long as you don't give up. You have stumbled but you can get up and walk again. We all believe in you.

  34. Thanks for the shout out people!! 5 years is quite a milestone for sure and I have never regretted having made the commitment to quit despite the difficulties in the early days. All the newbies need to know it's possible for all who put in the work to find their freedom from nicotine addiction. The difficulties and doubts fade away and are replaced by rewards that last a lifetime! As for me - the wife & I are livin' the good life on the beach in Mexico playin' in the sun

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
