  2. @LindaTotally missed this, but happy one year to you. I have been sick with strep throat, but the covid test came back negative. The steroids are helping me recover and I can only imagine how this would be if I were still smoking. Anyway, congrats again and hope you celebrated well. ❤

  3. Hey everyone! Just wanted to say I'm still going smoke free and all. Have to look for a new apartment today - it's stressful, of course, so I'm making sure I have enough caffeine in my system for the day :)

  5. Just came to check on the board for a dose of strength. When the computer came on my screen saver was a three toed sloth. That is what I feel like today. Supposed to be doing a cook day but can't seem to make it off the couch. Hope everyone is enjoying their day!

  9. Thank you all for the support. Life and its challenges don't stop just because we quit. And as I try to remind myself, its a (f-cking) process not an event! But we do got this because it is a WE thing. @jillarHeaded over to the one year pledge! I NOPE daily but I am gonna just go ahead and nail this a-hole down. Potty mouth tonight-hope I do not offend.

  10. @KEL You are doing great!!! I know how hard it was for me!! I guess I'm a slow learner lol You have the determination to do this!! Hang in there and beat the nicotine monster!!! You got this!! I know what you mean about the triggers, smoking was always my go to when I had a problem. But we have to learn to deal other ways because smoking did not make the problem go away.

  14. Sorry for your loss @KEL It would be a great honor in memory of her to dedicate your 100 day quit to her tomorrow. I know that every time I hear of someone I know or knew passing away from a smoking related illness it strengthens my resolve to never light up again.

  23. @SalCongratulations on 9 days! That is so incredible. Ironically (and I am sure others can weigh in on this) its those first few days and weeks that are the most difficult but also the most precious. It does get much easier. I think it takes what it takes but I can recall vaping nicotine as a substitute in my quit four years ago. On day two, I realized it was keeping me in the habit of sucking on something for comfort instead of stopping the habit entirely. For me, it was way too similar to smoking. I relapsed on that quit (obviously) but learned a lot about what I was really addicted to. For me, it was not just the drug of nicotine but the oral fixation and ritual. I had to look at the latter squarely and release it if I were going to successfully get rid of the former. Again my opinion, having tried all sorts of quit mechanisms over the last four or so years (NRT, hypnotherapy, meditation, vaping, 12-step), cold turkey is the best way. Get off nicotine and any other substance that keeps you thinking about nicotine or the ritual of smoking. BTW, not sure where you are but edibles are generally cheaper and give greater effect than flower. I am in Colorado and have been tangentially in the "industry" for a long time here and back when I lived in Cali. Wishing you success and thank you so much for sharing your journey with us. It helps me a lot.

  26. YESSSS!! This is so amazing, Linda! I’m so happy for you and you should be SO proud! You did it! How many times did you think that you wouldn’t?! Thank you for all your quotes! So many of them helped me and your brutal honesty about your quit journey has helped me and so many others! Seriously, I hope that you reward yourself well! So, how IS the Lido Deck?

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
