  2. @LindaTotally missed this, but happy one year to you. I have been sick with strep throat, but the covid test came back negative. The steroids are helping me recover and I can only imagine how this would be if I were still smoking. Anyway, congrats again and hope you celebrated well. ❤

  3. Hey everyone! Just wanted to say I'm still going smoke free and all. Have to look for a new apartment today - it's stressful, of course, so I'm making sure I have enough caffeine in my system for the day :)

  5. Just came to check on the board for a dose of strength. When the computer came on my screen saver was a three toed sloth. That is what I feel like today. Supposed to be doing a cook day but can't seem to make it off the couch. Hope everyone is enjoying their day!

  9. Thank you all for the support. Life and its challenges don't stop just because we quit. And as I try to remind myself, its a (f-cking) process not an event! But we do got this because it is a WE thing. @jillarHeaded over to the one year pledge! I NOPE daily but I am gonna just go ahead and nail this a-hole down. Potty mouth tonight-hope I do not offend.

  10. @KEL You are doing great!!! I know how hard it was for me!! I guess I'm a slow learner lol You have the determination to do this!! Hang in there and beat the nicotine monster!!! You got this!! I know what you mean about the triggers, smoking was always my go to when I had a problem. But we have to learn to deal other ways because smoking did not make the problem go away.

  14. Sorry for your loss @KEL It would be a great honor in memory of her to dedicate your 100 day quit to her tomorrow. I know that every time I hear of someone I know or knew passing away from a smoking related illness it strengthens my resolve to never light up again.

  15. I just spent $700.00 on another vintage Seiko wrist watch. It’s 50 years old and my 4th of a particular sought after model by collectors. They are so cool that I decided I want to leave one to each child, which is why I got this 4 th one. After I get them, I send them to Wales, to a guy named Simon, who specializes in servicing vintage Seikos. By the time all is said and done, each will cost over a thousand bucks. This one cost me more, because of its rare silver dial, so will be over a grand. The others are yellow and two dark blue. I have to slow down my spending, but I really love this hobby, and it keeps me sane during all this Covid madness.

  20. @SalCongratulations on 9 days! That is so incredible. Ironically (and I am sure others can weigh in on this) its those first few days and weeks that are the most difficult but also the most precious. It does get much easier. I think it takes what it takes but I can recall vaping nicotine as a substitute in my quit four years ago. On day two, I realized it was keeping me in the habit of sucking on something for comfort instead of stopping the habit entirely. For me, it was way too similar to smoking. I relapsed on that quit (obviously) but learned a lot about what I was really addicted to. For me, it was not just the drug of nicotine but the oral fixation and ritual. I had to look at the latter squarely and release it if I were going to successfully get rid of the former. Again my opinion, having tried all sorts of quit mechanisms over the last four or so years (NRT, hypnotherapy, meditation, vaping, 12-step), cold turkey is the best way. Get off nicotine and any other substance that keeps you thinking about nicotine or the ritual of smoking. BTW, not sure where you are but edibles are generally cheaper and give greater effect than flower. I am in Colorado and have been tangentially in the "industry" for a long time here and back when I lived in Cali. Wishing you success and thank you so much for sharing your journey with us. It helps me a lot.

  23. @Boo, I have never read the books of Larry McMurtry. I have been a big watcher of his movies thru my husband and our best friend. I will admit that I am in love with Gus McCrea and Woodrow Call. My husband and our best friend have now passed. I have their ashes here with me. I have to make a decision on what to do at some point I need to spread their ashes. I live about 20 minutes away from Lonesome Dove Road. We travelled the road often as teenagers. I think that might be the most poetic place to have my son spread all of out ashes once I pass.

  24. @LindaThanks for the encouragement. Learned my former sister in law died a few days ago. She had been ill for a number of years with lung cancer. I haven't seen her in about 8 years and but know she suffered greatly. I trust she is at peace now but its another message from the Universe for all of us to stay the course.

  25. @Linda that yes bitch meme was a total error! I had selected the other one first and it wasn’t going through, so I got aggravated and my finger hit the bitch one! It looked like that wasn’t going through either. Whew! I was happy about that! So, I selected my original choice again and thought all was well. But noooo! Of course not! LOL Anyway, I don’t know how to fix it. Maybe @Doreensfree or @jillar can fix it?

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
