@AceWhite Sorry I missed this earlier, been under the weather. You not only have my adoration for your quit but also that you celebrate doing things that most of us only dream of. You are running, biking, swimming and ice skating. I always thought you must be in your 20s or 30s. You are at an age when most of us slow down but you are out the tearing it up. I am jealous!!3 points

Congratulations on 8 months smoke free, @Steven Drojensky I hope you get to feeling better soon.3 points

Yes, I get it. It’s so hard to see the light when you live in the weeds. My advice, just keep saying NOPE. Yes, sounds stupid but gave me a 9 year quit so far. Every time that demon says smoke, you say NOPE! It will pass. Every single time, say NOPE and I promise it will get easier over time. You got this!3 points

@KEL Well to be honest it feels like its not real yet!! I will have to admit is was not easy for me!! But I don't think it was for anyone!! I know a year seems like along time so I still keep my guard up because I know that addict in me is still there. The craves still come for me but not as often and I get through them much faster It does get easier so keep up the great job you are doing. Before long you will be celebrating your year of being free of the nicotine monster and it does feel great!! You can do it!!3 points

Okay @jillar Do we need to start monitoring for the little bunnies in your charge. You are supposed to keep them sober but watch the mating. (I must say, it shocks me that there are so many bunnies on adoption websites. We all think of dogs and cats but there are many bunnies that need a good home.)2 points

Steven, Sorry I missed your milestone, I too have been ill. Worried it might be Covid but I now I don't think so. Sore throat, aches and pains, chills and fatigue. No fever, so I just think it is a reaction to allergies and the weather. I hope you are feeling better. You have hit your 7th month mark. That is so great, each day is a gift and I hope you have many more! I will never catch up, I am only at six months. I think when you start this with a person in the same timeline it makes it easier to keep going when you see them do so well. Thanks for all your help!2 points

New day, new Mind set, Jumped up and grabbed the Day by its Testies. I said to the day, Today Is going to be Better, I am going to have a bright and sunny day. So here I am working on a Sunday had to wake up at 430am and had a sorter machine down at the get go. I figured live is challenge enough, why go thru it feeling like crap when you don't have to. So we fixed the Machine wrote all the reports called all the big wigs and sat down to a bowl of menudo, God I love that stuff in the morning. Guess I found my Joy1 point

Managed to eat reasonably yesterday without getting an upset tummy - all the previous disasters have helped get the right sequence of how to break a long fast. While the act of eating is very pleasant, the full belly feeling is not. You're almost waiting to feel that empty belly again. With a few months of OMAD, I feel the body becomes more efficient at processing food as well as dealing with lack of food during long fasts. For the next few months, it's maintenance mode which is ... 5 meals + 2 fast days a week.1 point

@LindaNot to put you on the spot but do you feel like sharing the difference a year makes? I know it hasn't been easy but its such an amazing thing you did and inspiring to us all....1 point

Thank you all!! It has been a journey. I would not have made it without the good people here. I will be honest I have struggled the last couple weeks, did not think I would but I did and I was a pretty bitchy, whiny, train passenger So if I can do this anyone here can with all the support of the great people here!!!1 point

I've been listening to James McMurtry's "The Horses and the Hounds" a lot recently. One of my favorite albums of 2021. James is the son of legendary author Larry McMurtry. One thing leads to another and I've decided to re-read the Lonesome Dove series in chronological order. I'm about halfway through "Dead Man's Walk" and I remember why I liked those books so much in the first place.1 point
