  3. It’s been such a long time. Bakon is probably still harassing the good people of Pittsburgh. Jimmy is still a bully. Babs is always in the back seat. Jenny is the nicest quit smoker. Colleen is the 3rd girl if my dreams. Petra stood me up. Bigfoot was the prettiest woman I met in Alaska. And mammy I miss you hon. More to come. I miss the pig

  8. Day 4 and I'm actually not doing to bad other than the headache gets pretty bad at times. My research tells me this is pretty normal when getting off of carbs and sugars. It's a lot like quitting smoking but I've seen some testimonials of people that went carnivore and kind of spontaneously quit smoking or alcohol. It's an interesting concept. I think much of the issue is inflammation, hormones and gut biome. As the inflammation heals, the hormones normalize and the gut biome stabilizes it changes who you are on a very microscopic level and the new you might be a non smoker. Anyway, I tipped the scale at 193.8 this morning so after 3 days i'm down 5.7 lbs. I'm sure most of that is water weight but I don't really care since I'm not suffering from the bloat or constipation. I'm also less concerned about weight and more focused on body composition. In regards to smoking, it doesn't seem to be causing any extra stress that would put my quit in jeopardy so whatever transition I have to suffer I'll deal with unless that changes. I hope everyone had a great day today and is getting ready to grab 2022 by the balls and beat it into submission. Stay smoke free everyone.

  14. @Sal Hope your still trying, don't stop trying. You can do it. You have to do it. I remember when I got the call from the doctor telling me I had the beginning of emphysema. I knew I had to do it. I cried and smoked for a couple of days. Told myself when the last cigarette was gone, that I was done. That was it, I have not had one since. I still cried alot for awhile, hardly ever now. I started out taking an hour at a time, then I had a day, and I just kept fighting and here I am at 6 months. I am of to sleep now. Just know you matter!

  15. Sugar Britches' recipe is pretty uniform. The secret is to knowing just how much mustard and salt to go with the number of eggs being prepared. Many a good deviled egg has been ruined by people overdoing it on the mustard and salt. Sugar Britches knows the formula. It is strictly a matter of preference, but she also uses dill relish rather than sweet relish. I've had both and prefer dill relish. It's not a proper deviled egg until they have been sprinkled with paprika. Some folks get cute and try other toppings...but they always come back around to paprika.

  19. Always room for one more Doreen. We'll leave a light on for you. I have an uncle that tried to deep fry a turkey one Thanksgiving before giving it time to thaw out. Fortunately, everybody lived to tell about it and the property damage was minimal.

  20. @KrisYes, m’am! The long break is much needed and I’m using it wisely. Rest. Body and mind! I hope that you are enjoying the holiday season as well. I know that you don’t go out much, but I am sure that you have your traditions that bring you comfort and peace and happiness! I’ll be on here throughout the week. The train keeps me grounded and dealing with the holidays are hard for me. I’m thankful that I have 9 months of quit and all of y’all to support me through it. Have a wonderful holiday!

  22. Okay lets go with a plan change, I will come there because it is still like summer here and I want it to be cold. After I put the lasgana together I started a pot of taco soup. I tend to cook a lot one day so I don't have for a few days. Pan of brownies in the oven next. I think our California folks woul be willing to come there and enjoy the true weather winter. I have only been to snow areas twice, once to Lake Tahoe Nevada, where my husband skied and I fell on my ass repeatedly. Second time was a business trip to Minneapolis/St Paul. That was really an eye opener, the streets were plowed and the snow was higher on the edge of the streets, like running a gauntlet. I must admit I am out of wine again but have a list going. Hope you and Lily are snuggled up under a softie ( what my grandson calls my blankets) with a roaring fire and a cup of hot chocolate or soup.

  24. waitng for my ambien to kick in. can't believe she finally gave me something to help me sleep. In the soon to be grogginess I thought of @Opah and his pizza dreams. I have been craving pizza for a couple of weeks. Most all are takeout or delivery these days. I am thinking back to the seventies. There a lot of pizza places that were like a restaurant. They were most decorated in red and black and dark inside. There were wall sconces and tiny table lamps that made the room glow. It was the place to go for a date back then. Teenagers found them to be a romantic place to take your girl and more often than not your friends would also be there on a date. They were always open late so you had another place to go to when a party was over. Hopefully soon I will be able to tell you how bad I burned the roof of my mouth or bottom lip/chin with hot molten cheese. Wishing you pizza pidancing in dreams tonight. There is a famous Christmas movie that has the line "Youth is wasted on the young"

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
