Christmas shout out to the guys I work with. Our company takes part in the Toys for Tots program every December. We had a record haul this year, filled up an entire box truck. All donations were greatly appreciated. Bear, one of our fabricators, reworked four old bicycles. Did some welding on a couple. Primed, sanded, and painted them. Chromed them out. Put new wheels and seats on them...four lucky kids in the Chattanooga area are getting a sweet bike for Christmas this year. The true spirit of Christmas isn't always found where you thought it would be.5 points

I send a thank you to all three of you!! I am also grateful to everyone that takes the time to help everyone on the board. The struggle is real and we all would suffer without each other. I can't imagine trying to do this on my own with no one to to talk to. I know our main purpose here is to quit smoking but to have a connection here that we can share our happy days or sorrows keep us on the path no matter how hard it is. I think that makes all the difference.4 points

I am completely nicotine free . Nowadays when i have an uneasy feeling or restlessness or or some cravings which i cant control . I chew black pepper instead . Believe it or not , The cravings and the anxiety goes away after chewing it . Whenever the anxiety and cravings comes again , i chew the black pepper again . It has been working for me . That way i don't have to depend on sweets or junk foods for a better feeling . Maybe it will work for you too2 points

I was sick before I quit and lost about 30 pounds, I am more than happy to say I have gained it all back. Funny how carrying around forty years of smoke weighs so much more than 30 pounds. I feel physically better now than I have in along time. K2 points

G’day jillar tried a number of times to answer but the site is slow to to load and I’m’ getting “can not find” messages. Recon that a good bit to do with it! So no pic with the NOPE today. So if I’m not here over the coming days that’s the reason All the best for Christmas Chris1 point

@Kris, I agree with @Gus in that volunteering at A senior center would really help you feel needed and give you the purpose you're looking for. Here in California we have a program called CASA where you can volunteer to be an advocate for children. Another service you may find rewarding if there's something like that in Texas. I hope your Dr can help you get the meds or therapy needed to feel better1 point

Oh, Kris. I feel for you. I suffer from anxiety and the seasonal anxiety is the worst. It’s good that you have decided to see your doctor. There are so many physiological reasons why you can be off center. They can run tests as well as referring you to your therapist. I know that you’ve probably heard this so many times, but volunteering at a seniors center would do wonders for you. You enjoy helping others! By all means, see your therapist though. You are a very strong woman for reaching out. That in itself is a large step on the journey to recovery and I’m sure you know that too. Stay close to the train over the holidays! I will make a mental note to keep checking in.1 point

I've come around on this song. In my younger days I vowed I would never listen to it again. It was part of a Christmas program at school that I didn't even volunteer for, I was drafted. The music teacher was wound tight and fond of the saying: "NO! We'll take it from the top!" In hindsight, that lady was in charge of the Christmas show and managing to get about fifty middle school kids on the same page...she had a lot on her. Anyways...back to the music.1 point

G’day In the song it mentions the date the 21st December hence the date of making gravy day. Basically a bloke in jail who will not be making it home for Christmas asking his mate to give his kids a kiss and make the gravy for the Christmas roast. It’s been a bit more sad this year as a lot of us are separated from our love ones and will not be able to make that all important act of love the simple task of making the gravy…..1 point

@Gus Glad you are getting a well deserved break. Yep, do still not go out much. Holidays kinda in a holding pattern, DIL has covid, so they are in quaratine. Son was negative a couple of days ago but now not feeling good, scratchy throat and losing his voice earlier today. Going to get a retest today. I am good, just want them to be good too! Happy Holidays to you and yours!!1 point

Congratulations Kenzie on keeping the quit. I wouldn`t worry too much about putting on some weight in the early stages of quitting unless it is a major health concern. You can keep healthier crave snacks around for the craves and perhaps you are doing this already. keep the quit as main priority as you are doing. Best wishes and stay strong.1 point
