  1. I am a nope but I must say @notsmokinjo I wondered about Happy Gravy Day. You know the drill, went to the google. I did not listen to the song but I have always (almost) known the importance of gravy. I was married at 20, that first week I cooked a dinner that included mashed potatoes. I worked hard to make that dinner. I made a plate for my new husband and placed it on the table. " This looks great, Honey" where is the gravy? Apparently, mashed potatoes were never served without gravy in his mother's house. It never happened again. My husband's whole family was obessed with gravy. At every holiday meal, the boys were in the kitchen like little chicks. Mom are you sure you made enough? That does not look like enough. When dinner was served they were like wild animals fighting over the gravy bowl. All of them, you took to much, give me the bowl, it is my turn, pass it this way. Well, I have always known how to make gravy, if you are a girl in the south, you knew how to make gravy. Sausage gravy over biscuits, brown gravy over roast beef, cream gravy for fried chicken and chicken fried steak. I just did not realize how important gravy was. After I demonstrated this skill, I knew I would never have marital problems. You can solve every problem with a good bowl of gravy and something else..... K
  2. Great job Kenzie. The weight gain comes and goes, but the freedom from cigarettes lasts forever.
  3. G’day NOPE .....Not One Puff Ever.... (replace Ever with Min,Hour, Day as required) Mango….. not ripe yet

Christmas shout out to the guys I work with. Our company takes part in the Toys for Tots program every December. We had a record haul this year, filled up an entire box truck. All donations were greatly appreciated. Bear, one of our fabricators, reworked four old bicycles. Did some welding on a couple. Primed, sanded, and painted them. Chromed them out. Put new wheels and seats on them...four lucky kids in the Chattanooga area are getting a sweet bike for Christmas this year. The true spirit of Christmas isn't always found where you thought it would be.
  5. This is the hardest part. You are doing it!

  10. Congratulations Kenzie! 🤗
  11. Congratulations @kenzie_peyton Stay strong and stay close to the train!!!
  12. NOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
  13. Congratulations Kenzie on keeping the quit. I wouldn`t worry too much about putting on some weight in the early stages of quitting unless it is a major health concern. You can keep healthier crave snacks around for the craves and perhaps you are doing this already. keep the quit as main priority as you are doing. Best wishes and stay strong.
  14. Yeah nah it's a NOPE from me.... I mean who'd reckon a perfectly good GRAVY DAY with some foul chemicals and smoke. Happy Gravy Day you mob.
  15. and probably about 10 pounds heavier. 😂
  16. Hello @TONY! This Christmas will be my 13th without my husband. Does it get easier? Yes. But a bittersweet memory can take your breath away in a flash, but mercifully is only fleeting. I suggest you start a tradition by doing something meaningful to honor the way she loved you because the way she made you feel about her, yourself, and the way you saw yourselves as a couple will be one of the most endearing and lasting memories you retain. I do hope that you can find some peace and comfort this holiday.
  17. I was sick before I quit and lost about 30 pounds, I am more than happy to say I have gained it all back. Funny how carrying around forty years of smoke weighs so much more than 30 pounds. I feel physically better now than I have in along time. K
  18. Well done ...don't worry about the pounds ...just quitting for now ...keep going !!!
  19. Thank you @Cbdave Chris for starting our day with the most important NOPE thread!😊
  20. Congratulations @Kris I'm so happy for you to have reached that milestone.

@KrisI don't believe we ever "lose" any one we have ever loved. I think its just a big circle. At least that is what makes me feel better when I am missing people.....And I love when they come to me in my dreams, especially those who left a long time ago. Its sweet. And yes, I do think they "show up" to let us know we are doing just fine.
  22. Tony, I feel your pain! I am facing my 11th Christmas with out my husband. I lost him after a five year fight with cancer. The sad truth is that some people think we should be over it after a year. That is not the case, you need to greive as long as you need. There is nothing wrong in the fact you still miss her. There is nothing wrong with the fact you struggle still. Most of all your should all your fellow widowers and widows get it. It is always harder at holiday time, she would not want you to be so unhappy but we know we can't change how we feel. I wish I could say something that would make you feel better but I can't, we just have to take it a day at a time. Talk to your family and friends and let them know you need some extra support now.
  23. @TONY No bucket list here, but I can relate to not looking forward to the holidays. I lost my husband several years ago. Sorry for your loss! I can't say it does get easier but for me it helps to focus on the good memories we shared. The not smoking is the best gift you can give yourself!

  25. Chickens? You have chickens? (I used to have them; great fun!) NOPE
  26. Glad you found us Tony ....there is always someone to help you through here ... You are among folks who understand ....this will be the third Christmas on my own too... Stay close ....sometimes it's easier to talk to strangers ...🐸
  27. This post has me speechless...and that rarely happens. I can't really take much credit here, I just post songs I like. However, I am glad that something I posted here brought you some joy. Music is the universal language. Best wishes to you and yours this Christmas Kris.
  28. G’day In the song it mentions the date the 21st December hence the date of making gravy day. Basically a bloke in jail who will not be making it home for Christmas asking his mate to give his kids a kiss and make the gravy for the Christmas roast. It’s been a bit more sad this year as a lot of us are separated from our love ones and will not be able to make that all important act of love the simple task of making the gravy…..
  29. @Boo Who are you and how do you know so much about so much. I just danced with my husband. Him in a tux and me in a white and silver ballgown with a full skirt so the lights could sparkle as I turned. The unusual thing about it, my husband did not dance, he has been in heaven these last 11 christmases and I have never worn a ballgown. But I did tonight thanks to you! K
  30. Congratulations Kris, your half way there. Don't forget to reward yourself today.

Hi @TONY, CONGRATULATIONS and welcome aboard the QuitTrain! You have been a non smoker for two weeks! That’s awesome! You are past the worst of the physical withdrawal but that mental challenge is going to be with you for awhile and it’s going to be rough at times. Keep notes on how you get through each episode and keep them handy. You will come to rely on them. Also, read. Read everything on this site. Over and over again. It truly helps! So much advice and information. Also, there is almost always someone availability to talk with if you are needing a little assist. Looking forward to following your quit! 💪🏻
  32. G’day Congratulation ….. you deserve this. Happy for you
