Ya smoking sucks and dying sucks worse Your urges to smoke are no greater than anyone else's, sorry to say. The will to not smoke has to win the battle over the will to smoke, and until that day dawns you'll always just lurk here. Join the club- quit sticking something in your mouth and lighting it. It will be tough at first, but you'll slowly gain confidence in your quit as it gets stronger every day. Choose you, it's the best gift you can give yourself this holiday season. And hope to see ya around4 points

Welcome aboard Tony. Good call on giving up the smokes. You already have two weeks under your belt so you know how to quit. Just keep going. Quitting is simple. Challenging, but simple.4 points

G'day Pat and welcome. Just remember every quit is different and we will all have advice and support to offer but when push comes to shove the truck is simple...don't put something in your mouth and light it. Best tip I can offer is focus small. For me I was only quitting for 1 day....I just repeated it, for 4 years now .... but just focus on 1 day at a time and they add up real quick. So 2 weeks in this is what you know...you can go 24hrs without a smoke...so each morning, wake up look at yaself in the mirror and say "Today I am quitting, I will not smoke"....then just before you go to bed, look at yaself again and say "Today I did not smoke, I quit"....and repeat. Don't worry about next week, next month, next year...just worry about today.4 points

It was cool and rainy here. We didn't have anything pressing. So, just hung out at the house all day. The most excitement we had was letting our one-year old daughter paint a wooden Christmas ornament. Exciting in that giving a toddler access to paint always involves a level of risk. She painted Santa Claus. Didn't go with the traditional red suit. She had eight colors and used them all. Now we have a tie-dye Santa...he looks like he used to follow the Grateful Dead. Lazy days are good from time-to-time.4 points

Thanks to all, could not have made it without you. Today of all days, I thought I real need to get a smoke. Stupid Huh! Did not do it. I ventured out today, covid booster, had an appointment but the place was overbooked, did get it done. Went to the grocery, wanted to get stocked up with everything needed to the new year. Did not realize everyone else had the same idea, it was a madhouse but I got it done. With a stop at customer service, charged me twice for one item and did not give me the sale price on four others. Pocketed the refund with a smile and let them know this happens all the time and I catch it all the time. Would they want the older people in their lives taken advantage of. Went to the happy liquid store, that was okay but for the big truck that parked right next to me and I mean next to me. What did he do, look in the store and see the fluffy lady, yeah, that this is her car and I am going to park 6 inches close of her drivers side. I will not be ashamed that I like pizza and ice cream. I went straight to the passenger side, thru in the booze, put my big butt in the air and crawled over to the drivers side with a big smile on my face. Last stop, lookng forward to it, visit to the animal shelter with food donations and damned if they had'nt moved it. Back home, looked up where they are now and will take it tomorrow..so have a Meowie Christmas and a Barkless New Year. Be careful out there, sabotage awaits!!3 points

Thank you, I'm still a Quitter and occasionally hop on the Quit Train to see how folks are doing, post a NOPE or add a song. To anyone new to quitting, Congratulations on your decision. It is one of the top best things you will ever do for yourself. Commit to a full year of posting a NOPE and then stick around for another full year. And give back. The support here is golden and has been the backbone of many solid quits. Thank you, QT and friends for the helping hand will I needed it.3 points

Welcome aboard @TONY, or is it Pat? Congratulations on two weeks quit already, that's awesome! These first few weeks/months can be pretty tough, but they are totally doable as we can all attst too and once you get past them you'll never have to do them again I also suggest checking out our pinned threads on the main board. Lots of good tips and clues to help you. We also have some pretty enjoyable social boards for when you want to get your mind off smoking but still stick close to your support. Reach out to us whenever you need to and definitely if you feel yourself caving to a crave so that we can talk you past it ok?3 points

Hi and welcome. The best I can recommend (and I am sure the more seasoned folks will jump in shortly) is read everything on this site. Its critical to understand the components of addiction and how we get tricked into believing we need to smoke. There's also great ideas/suggestions about dealing with cravings, etc. It does get easier!3 points

DING DING DING, its time to take these new eyes for a work out 7 hours more of work then its on. Fill the Yukon with Gas and check the fluids, Yes that means the oil also, Load the food, clothes, Ice chests, ammo, Day pack and hook up the trailer and check the tire pressure. 5am coffee in hand fire arms stowed in truck, and I am off, I am so ready to get on the road. Wednesday morning The alarms go off, all the Toms flying down from their roosts gobbling calling for their hens. I get to the lower meadows and start glassing, working your way around to the Over look into the riverbed, Day break and sun set are the hunting hours, the rest of the time I spend wrenching on the Quads and Ranger, getting them ready for another season. Yes its True We drive out to pick up our Hogs, bring them Back Hang and wash them, we have a couple Skinning stations and into the Ice chests, its the easy life hunting and I will take it when I can get it. Looking at the younger 200 lbs Hogs this year, they are just way more tasty than the Big ass Boars. I will be back the 2nd of next year See Ya3 points

Hi @TONY, CONGRATULATIONS and welcome aboard the QuitTrain! You have been a non smoker for two weeks! That’s awesome! You are past the worst of the physical withdrawal but that mental challenge is going to be with you for awhile and it’s going to be rough at times. Keep notes on how you get through each episode and keep them handy. You will come to rely on them. Also, read. Read everything on this site. Over and over again. It truly helps! So much advice and information. Also, there is almost always someone availability to talk with if you are needing a little assist. Looking forward to following your quit!1 point
