G’day Just a thought. Smoked outside it seams forever but I never had to go out in the cold and snow! Wow how cold could it be just to get that last lung buster in late at night. I would have been that smoker ha ha but not anymore. Freedom to stay inside in the warmth freedom from the cravings …. Doesn’t get any better does it4 points

I nearly lost an eyebrow one time. All hunched over, trying to light one up on a windy day. Everybody talks about the heart and lung issues caused by smoking. The threat of self-immolation doesn't get as much attention.3 points

Smoking: waking up in the morning and thinking, "What-the-f--k. Another day." Not-smoking: waking up in the morning thinking, "What-the-f--k! Another day!3 points

I got wound up so freaking bad, breath eat some sweets and calm down, then some thing would ramp me back up. all night it was that way Up and down every thing so quite nothing was stirring. I would run off to my hunting forum and there again no one was home. I went to the SOS and stared reading every ones self responses, Now let me tell you those really helped. You can tell your self off and not get offended, I think that is one of the bestest, unique, Post here on the Train.2 points

The only thing you're missing out on by not smoking while dealing with bronchitis is a hacking coughing spell and prolonged illness. The choice is an obvious one.2 points

G’day It’s due to rain today here. Showers with a possible storm. 80C too. So if we get frozen rain it will be big lumpy bits… hail. Dont think we’ll have bushfires this year for sure. Wettest November for 50 years on the east coast of australia2 points

Christian99 Quit Date: 12/11/01 Posted September 6, 2021 It is certainly possible to quit without substantial (or even any) weight gain, but my experience has been that a common characteristic of many successful quitters is the prioritization of quitting over pretty much everything else. Nothing is more important for your health. Nothing. And nothing is more important for your spirt and self-esteem. Ask yourself what it will take for you to do WHATEVER it takes. You asked about withdrawal symptoms at three months. While some people are not struggling substantially at three months quit, some successful quitters actually are. I was. I sure hope that's not the shape your quit takes, but are you willing to remain smoke free if it is? Because that's how it is for some quitters, and no smoker--especially one in his/her late 30's--can afford to wait. I had a catastrophic heart attack at age 40 that most certainly would have killed me if I hadn't successfully quit at age 33, and my brother died a miserable death from lung cancer at age 41. Unusual perhaps and unlucky genes maybe, but quitting smoking is the single most important thing any of us can do to improve our health. And while I definitely quit for a better life, after watching my brother's final weeks and days on this earth, I've come to realize that I also quit for a better death. We all know you can do it. Stay close. Christian99 Nearing 20 Years Quit Link to original post: (removed)1 point

You know as I get older, the holidays mean less and less example: 4th of July, do you feel the way you felt at 13 seems as you grew the awe and glory died, the magic faded and the family grew further apart. especially now with the yahaas trying to keep every body apart, Am I he only one felling disconnected from Family, friends, society ? I mean is this what it was 4 years ago ? Ya Ya Covid this and Covid that Teach our youth to be segregationist, that one must protect them self's even from Family and friends, to hide behind senseless, useless masks. Remember only a couple weeks then Months and now Years, Makes it so hard and lonely for some to keep a quit. makes it so easy for that nico demond to slip in and say this is what you are quitting for look around, is this what you want to spend the rest of your life doing ? Why even bother ? What are we going to be in 2 / 3 more years, are we going to owe our souls to the company store? Think we would have learned, Fool us once shame on you Fool us twice shame on us. You know I will be better after this? well maybe not, I want what we had just 3 sort years ago, when you could have a smoke in a bar, when you could pray together in Church, when holiday block party's were common, when you could have huge family get together's and you could hug your grand children and kiss them on the cheeks, Maybe I am just feeling nostalgic. I do want to smoke, just say Fuk to all of this and not give a damn. But then I say fool me once OK but your not going to fool me again, I am free of you and you are not getting me back. not with swinging my mode during holiday times, not by attempting to make me feel all of this us for nothing. Yes you put on a pretty good façade and your slight of hand was skill full and yes you had me shaking to my foundation. But that is where it ends, My foundation is strong, the backs of many poured it, smoothed it and helped it harden. Mighty is my foundation and all upon it secure, so let me make this Clear NIC you will never have me so slink away become the memory you are doomed to be, held in the deep dark recess of my mind.1 point

Hi all! It has been a while since I visited this forum. However, the other day a family member asked me how long it was since I quitted and wow, I knew it had been already four years but I no longer remembered the exact date and forgot to celebrate. I guess this has two interpretations, either dementia is coming or the lack of struggle makes you forget.... In any case, for those who are quitting, or planning, or having a hard time, you can totally make it and then even forget about it. Of course I remember sometimes (especially when I smell someone's else smoke, but now it is only a nice feeling thinking how free I am that I no longer have to smoke. So go for it, you can totally make it, and this community will help, so keep discussing, and NOPEing everyday. All the best! g.1 point
