  1. NOPE! Just ain’t going to do it. Day 7 & Don’t want to start all over again. Starting over again on this quit would be nearly impossible because each quit gets harder. And clearly the relationship I have with cigarettes is one sided and I keep getting hurt. NOPE. Cigarettes you’ve done your damage and I hope your drown.

  12. Thanks to all of you for the kind words and encouragement. I know it should be a special day. I have just been struggling a little so I have been busy keeping my self occupied. All the mindless things, cleaning the toilets, putting up new shower liners in the bath. I need to get new bath rugs and the all exciting new toilet bowl seats. I just hate it when I can't do all the things I used to. With the hip replacement it is fine to get down to the floor, I have problems getting back up. Tried to get on the step ladder to dust ceiling fans and change some light bulbs. Well that was a no go. I am pissed I can not do the things I have always done. I have cleaned the kitchen, organized the pantry. Went to a couple of stores to stock up on dog food, diet coke and wine. Second store was food stock up, good ground beef for the freezer, sausage I use in recipes for the freezer. When was the last time you could get Campbells tomato soup 3 cans for a buck. Took up a rug in the den due to my little girl (dog) having accidents the last few days. She is feeling better but I will wait a few days before I put down the new rug. So now you can see, I have been having a hard time here of late. At least I am getting things done. Love and great thanks for all you do for everyone here! K

  13. I would recommend this site IF I knew anyone that smoked, I hardly ever even see anyone smoking theses days. a couple months back, I visited some relatives, and attended an (outdoor) 60th birthday party that probably 40+ people attended and I didn’t see one person smoking, with the exception of 3 guys who joined the birthday boy in a cigar as the party wound down (I wasn’t one of them).

  14. So much of this sounds like my story. I am on day 7 & this is the most difficult quit yet. Maybe that’s good thing. That’s what I’m sticking with anyway. I am a stage 1 cancer survivor. You would think that would have kicked my habit but I have relapsed twice so here I am. I am interested in the know-how for creating a ticket. And appreciate the link to get there to do it. Something for me to figure out later on. On another note: I am thankful for all of you because you are the only people I can share with. I don’t have anybody to share this with because I am a closet smoker (for those that don’t know) so I would like to share with you all here. I just want to say that I am so thankful for the opportunity to go camping with my husband for 4 nights this past week. He does not know that I smoke and we were with each other almost the entire time. Absolutely no way for me to smoke unless I down right lied and made an excuse to drive to the store. I wanted to bum one from another camper I saw in a distance who was smoking and i reframed. Not being in my ordinary surroundings helped me tremendously. Coming home and being here has been so very tempting. Thankful I have not allowed cigarettes to win. I am thankful that I think I can remain the queen of my domain. For me it’s one day at a time. I really don’t want to go back. It’s just way too tough to have to go through a quit again. Not smoking is truly easier on the long run. It has just got to be. thank you!

  18. Ace, thanks that means a lot from you. I was a swimmer all my life. Have a letter jacket to prove it. Was a lifeguard at one time. Loved swimming but it slowly left my life as an adult. I am looking to bring it back because I know the joy of it. I have located a pool nearby but I am still unsure of the safety of being around others with the new delta variant. I would need to start with slow freestyle workouts and kick board strength training. I do not know if flip turns would ever be in the future at this age but you never know until you try. I would not even attempt the butterfly. K

  21. For all you addicts out there that racked up another day of going smokeless, congratulations. You have my love, respect and support. If you stumbled today you have my love, respect and support. And if you get back on the train tomorrow I bow to the strength of your resolve. Where ever you are be of good cheer, for it may be true that misery loves company, it's also true that the company can't get away from the miserable fast enough. Have a great night all. Stay strong and stay free.

  22. Hey Tara! I’m 7 months into my one and only quit. I absolutely know without a doubt that I would not survive another quit. It’s the reason I will never smoke again. I just can’t. Keep your quit. At all costs. It truly will be worth it if you do. It gets so much easier, in time. I promise you that it does!

  24. I'll post some links to some videos i use to try and convince myself that I don't smoke and that it smells horrible even tho I still like the smell of a cigarette. Don't try to figure it out, I'm really screwed up in the head. Here's the first one. I use this one in the mornings and during the day when I have time.

  25. Here you go tara: https://www.quittrain.com/topic/15042-creating-a-ticker/ That's what helped me not relapse, the simple fact of not going through the misery again! You're doing great Tara

  27. @intoxicated yoda, I have recovered from the initial health issue which caused me to ditch the smokes immediately (a stroke). The Universe works in mysterious ways though....just after my 1 yr quitversary.....had to have open-heart surgery (triple bypass). Doc said good thing I quit when I did...so that I was able to dodge another bullet. I recovered from that surgery as well. The last few years have been quite an adventure, in my case!

  29. My Father and Grandfather both suffered and died from it. I remember Grandfather would take us somewhere he would walk from the house to the car, have to take a break leaning on the fender of the car to catch his breath, then get in and get it started, spend another minute catching his breath, then fire up a Salem and put it in gear and off we went! At the end he could only sit up for 20 minutes before he was completely winded and out of energy. Same end for my dad. A big quit motivator for me!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
