  1. When I quit smoking on Sept 7, I printed a Sept calendar sheet so I could put a red X on something each day I didn't smoke. Today marks 23 days and is the last day of the month. Felt great to have to print out a new sheet for October. Not a month of not smoking yet, but just the action of having to change the calendar felt so good. And taped at the bottom of my calendar is a small sheet that says: "If you quit now... You'll end up right back where you first began. And when you first began, you were desperate to be right where you are now. Keep going." Those red X's remind me of all I would be giving up if I take even one puff.

  4. Actually this is large victory, you have set a goal and have completed that goal with something physical (in more ways than one) to show for it. This is a strong victory and will do good for the mental aspect which is a huge part of your quit now. Well done, well done Justin!!!!!!

  13. Hi! I've been a smoker for 43 years, although I quit for 3 years when I got pregnant and the first two years of my son, but slowly one puff at a time I fell back into the old habit. Since then, I have tried to quit many times with different strategies like the patch and the gum, but have failed. I figured the hardest part for me, is when all is done at the end of the day, and I'm enjoying peace and quiet, the cigarrette is like a companion...sounds silly right? But that's what it is for me. So I just came back from a new Doctor's appointment to help me quit and we figured out that a support group during those hours that I miss "my companion" could be a good strategy. So, here I am, and will keep you posted for my quit day. Looking forward to meeting you all. Patricia

  15. I have experienced the lost lunch many times. I always took it with a grain of salt except for one time. I was pregnant and someone took my lunch. Do not mess with a pregnant woman's food, it could get you hurt. (murdered) K

  17. I have some people I COULD talk to, but it's not the same as being here. Here I have people who either are about to, just starting, intermediate, and long term quitters. Lots of experience and they don't mind hearing me whine when I'm down, give advice when needed, and congratulate small victories on a daily basis.

  18. Hi. I'm not exactly new here. Just a failed ex forum member. But I'm back now. Quit two hours ago. All cigarette reminders thrown away. I've come to bed with my cats. I'm very stressed right now....not the lack of cigarettes....yet.....but the shame of what I have done to my body over the years and I don't feel I can talk to anyone about it. Hence why I am here. Nice to meet you all.

Trying to decide if I want to make brownies...YES I DO If you are gone to be bad, be really bad {JUST DO NOT SMOKE!} k

  31. 2900 meters this morning in the pool- longest workout to date. These swims are all drills: todays main set was 7x200 with 20 seconds rest between, 5x100 with 5 sec rest. This afternoon I went for a 3.5 mile trail run.

  32. Hello and welcome! You may have never thought you would be on this journey. I did not think so either but doctors and medical (health) issues come in to play. Then we are faced with tough situations. That was the case for me. I am still new to this but these people have helped me so much. They do not judge or make you feel bad about anything you post. I COULD NOT DO THIS WITHOUT THEM! K

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
