  4. @Dianne, it might be worth remembering that yours was the very first thread I read, when I found the site. In the beginning, I was sure you weren’t going to succeed. But, then I read your latest posts, and saw that you were hanging in there. At the time, I said to myself, if this woman can stay away from cigarettes, so can I. I look to you for my own strength. I think we should all remember that we are examples to other newbies, and take responsibility for that fact. Ideally, we want others to succeed in their quits. If we give in, they might get discouraged, too. So, stay strong, so those of us with less time than you, can continue to follow your lead, and keep our quits intact.

  5. Try not to stress over the shady people who betrayed you I know it hurts but the truth is that they were always shady they're never going to change and you're actually much better off now because at least you know who they really are

  13. Yes, I definitely should make some dietary changes, especially since my blood work shows that I am prediabetic. My FBS was 103, and needs to be 100, or lower. I think working out will help correct that, as well. I just need to get a little more focused on diet and exercise. I did do an outdoor power walk this evening, so a total of more than an hour a day should help me attain my fitness goals.

  14. Today was Day 9 on my treadmill. I gave up the “Everest Hike to Base Camp” series, when the Day 3 workout suddenly became insanely difficult, for this old gal. So, I put my treadmill in manual mode, and have been setting my own speed and incline levels, since. I generally walk at 3.2 mi/hr. with a 2.5 % incline for at least 30 minutes. Sweat starts dripping down my face after about 10 minutes, so it’s a good workout. I walk a distance of approx 1.9 miles. So far, I haven’t missed a day. I am discouraged that I haven’t lost any weight doing this, so am thinking of doing 2 sessions a day. I don’t want to get burned out, though, so still mulling that idea over. We shall see. If nothing else, I am doing my heart and mind a favor.

  17. Day 109 Frustrated this last week. Had a problem Friday that just kept compounding more and more problems. Had a moment (a sarcastic one) where I thought gee I so glad I do not smoke now!!...followed by staring blankly into space. I really wanted a cig...there have been a few times this week I have really wanted one.... but I rather stubborn by nature and I not willing to give up 109 days for something that is only going to make me feel less than proud of myself and will do nothing for me...nothing good...so I going to keep choosing this quit and adding more days to it.....admittedly some days more challenging than others and we have a choice

  18. I just had a very vivid dream that woke me up. I was pregnant with our third child, and my husband was extremely upset about having another mouth to feed. He said he had to go out, and I was screaming at him, like a shrew. I was visibly pregnant, and so upset. For some reason, my sister was there, and I was telling her, “I don’t know why I acted like that! What’s wrong with me?” At that point, I woke up. It was so real. How weird. That third baby we shared is now 35, and about to become a first time Dad. My ex-husband, the focus of the dream, never liked being a Dad, so the dream was loosely based on fact. My sister was very supportive during my marital struggles, so it makes sense she was there. I divorced that guy 23 years ago, so why am I still dreaming about him? It was a lifetime ago. I agree that life has gone by way too fast. Let’s make the most of the time we have left.

  20. Sometimes we need a bridge and sometimes we are the bridge no one I know has escaped troubled waters rough seas and challenging scary days these are the times in our lives when we could use a little help and other times when we are given the chance to be that help for someone else it really doesn't matter where you are right now what matters is that you remember we are stronger together and taking a hand is just as important as offering one

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
