So they are with me, my lovely friend on quit train. I just restarted my cold turkey quit today, this very afternoon in fact. I'm battling the NRT mouth sprays addiction as well as cigarettes. I'm not going to fold I'm going to be strong Thank you all for being there for me in spirit and in truth4 points

How are you guys doing? Hopefully by now you've started seeing real benefits like improved circulation and your taste and smell have returned. Maybe you've noticed more energy or how nice you smell. And lets not forget all the money you've saved! Time to start thinking of something really cool to do with some of that cash to reward yourself for quitting Quitting isn't always easy but it is ALWAYS doable. Trust in yourself, there will never be any greater act of self discipline as there is when quitting. SELF DISCIPLINE: the ability to control one's feelings and overcome one's weaknesses; the ability to pursue what one thinks is right despite temptations to abandon it.4 points

I must say I always had cold feet, now I have warm feet. Have to have them out of the covers now to sleep. At first I thought I was running a fever but them it dawned on me that my circulation was better. I am thrilled, I had to have hip replacement a few months ago because blood flow stopped to hip and the top of my femur bone died. Trust me you do not want that!! I did not know our circulation could affect your bones but it does. It is called avascular necrosis and is very painful, keep this in mind it will help you stay on your quit. Hip replacement was a vacation in the tropics compared to the pain you will feel from this. K4 points

@Dianne, it might be worth remembering that yours was the very first thread I read, when I found the site. In the beginning, I was sure you weren’t going to succeed. But, then I read your latest posts, and saw that you were hanging in there. At the time, I said to myself, if this woman can stay away from cigarettes, so can I. I look to you for my own strength. I think we should all remember that we are examples to other newbies, and take responsibility for that fact. Ideally, we want others to succeed in their quits. If we give in, they might get discouraged, too. So, stay strong, so those of us with less time than you, can continue to follow your lead, and keep our quits intact.1 point

Good for you, Dianne! I am right behind you. This is a case where being stubborn works in our favor. I know, because, that is when I accomplish my goals. I never give up, if it is something I want badly enough. Keep up the good work. You only need focus on one day at a time…1 point

Day 109 Frustrated this last week. Had a problem Friday that just kept compounding more and more problems. Had a moment (a sarcastic one) where I thought gee I so glad I do not smoke now!!...followed by staring blankly into space. I really wanted a cig...there have been a few times this week I have really wanted one.... but I rather stubborn by nature and I not willing to give up 109 days for something that is only going to make me feel less than proud of myself and will do nothing for me...nothing good...so I going to keep choosing this quit and adding more days to it.....admittedly some days more challenging than others and we have a choice1 point

Just did 25 laps in the climbing heat. 30 minutes of moderate cardio today. I know when not to push too hard. I AM an old broad, after all…. Looking forward to having my treadmill assembled on Monday. I even got new running shoes, so I won’t soil it with my street shoes. My boyfriend thought that was bonkers. I am looking forward to using the IFit software, that is part of the deal. There is a vast library of recorded workouts with trainers, and even live classes I can join. Membership is free for a full year, so that’s a nice perk. The unit has a nice fan, and is Bluetooth enabled, so I can synchronize my iTunes library. The unit has its own built in 7 inch touch screen, or I can use my iPad. The 3.0 HP commercial grade motor should be more than strong enough for my intended use. Max speed is 12 mi/hr., and max incline is 12 %, both pretty standard, throughout the industry. No decline, but I didn’t think I’d use it, if it had it. The deck has some flex to it, to relieve stress on joints. I can turn off the flex cushioning, to simulate street running, should I so choose. I think I found the right machine for me. I paid $1,000.00 for it, on sale, and an extra $80.00, for assembly. Well worth the price, for its specs. I am excited. I will let you know how my first indoor workout goes, on Monday evening.1 point

Training- my new addiction much better than sitting around smoking. Adventures on my bike and trail running keep it interesting and fun. The initial first few weeks were tough but now that I’ve gained fitness back the process is enjoyable!! Happy Friday!!1 point

Just returned from Dick’s Sporting Goods, where I picked up, (not literally) a new treadmill. Amazon did not have the model I ultimately chose, and I saved $300.00, by letting them put it in the back of my SUV. Nordictrack charges $200.00 for delivery and Dick’s had it on sale. I paid an extra $80.00 to have a pro come out to assemble it. That will be next Wed., but I can wait. I did a lot of research on treadmills, before deciding on this midrange model. It comes with a free year of the Ifit program, which will give me access to personal online training programs. So, I did something good for myself and my health.1 point

My company has donated fire sprinkler systems for Homes for our Troops- they build specially adapted homes for post 9/11 veterans that have suffered traumatic injuries. Since i'm running Herbalife Los Angeles Triathlon anyways, I decided to use the opportunity to raise funds & awareness for HFOT. So far ive raised $ 1100 . Feel free to cheer me on- if anyone feels crazy generous i'll send you a link to donate to my fundraising page https://www.hfotusa.org1 point
