So they are with me, my lovely friend on quit train. I just restarted my cold turkey quit today, this very afternoon in fact. I'm battling the NRT mouth sprays addiction as well as cigarettes. I'm not going to fold I'm going to be strong Thank you all for being there for me in spirit and in truth4 points

How are you guys doing? Hopefully by now you've started seeing real benefits like improved circulation and your taste and smell have returned. Maybe you've noticed more energy or how nice you smell. And lets not forget all the money you've saved! Time to start thinking of something really cool to do with some of that cash to reward yourself for quitting Quitting isn't always easy but it is ALWAYS doable. Trust in yourself, there will never be any greater act of self discipline as there is when quitting. SELF DISCIPLINE: the ability to control one's feelings and overcome one's weaknesses; the ability to pursue what one thinks is right despite temptations to abandon it.4 points

I must say I always had cold feet, now I have warm feet. Have to have them out of the covers now to sleep. At first I thought I was running a fever but them it dawned on me that my circulation was better. I am thrilled, I had to have hip replacement a few months ago because blood flow stopped to hip and the top of my femur bone died. Trust me you do not want that!! I did not know our circulation could affect your bones but it does. It is called avascular necrosis and is very painful, keep this in mind it will help you stay on your quit. Hip replacement was a vacation in the tropics compared to the pain you will feel from this. K4 points

@Dianne, it might be worth remembering that yours was the very first thread I read, when I found the site. In the beginning, I was sure you weren’t going to succeed. But, then I read your latest posts, and saw that you were hanging in there. At the time, I said to myself, if this woman can stay away from cigarettes, so can I. I look to you for my own strength. I think we should all remember that we are examples to other newbies, and take responsibility for that fact. Ideally, we want others to succeed in their quits. If we give in, they might get discouraged, too. So, stay strong, so those of us with less time than you, can continue to follow your lead, and keep our quits intact.1 point

I am so happy Sophia is doing well after surgery, I lost a dear sweet boy in 2017 after a surgery. I never knew what happened, his belly got swollen and they found internal bleeding from his spleen. removed the spleen and I got him home again but it started again couple if days later from the pancreas, I had to let him go, did not want him to suffer anymore. Very, very hard. I was taking care of a close friend in my home at the time who had to have lower leg amputation, he got on the net and found a look alike rescue. I could not say no so my Toby got adopted. Same dear friend passed and I have his dog now, a chow. Also have my little girl I adopted after my husband passed, so I have three furbabies and they are the greatest gift. I could not live without a dog, they are truly man's best friend. K1 point

Awesome @Dianne. You got that right - smoking will not solve anything but WILL make you feel bad about losing the quit. At least you can tackle the problems knowing you still have something to be proud about.1 point

Good for you, Dianne! I am right behind you. This is a case where being stubborn works in our favor. I know, because, that is when I accomplish my goals. I never give up, if it is something I want badly enough. Keep up the good work. You only need focus on one day at a time…1 point

Just did 25 laps in the climbing heat. 30 minutes of moderate cardio today. I know when not to push too hard. I AM an old broad, after all…. Looking forward to having my treadmill assembled on Monday. I even got new running shoes, so I won’t soil it with my street shoes. My boyfriend thought that was bonkers. I am looking forward to using the IFit software, that is part of the deal. There is a vast library of recorded workouts with trainers, and even live classes I can join. Membership is free for a full year, so that’s a nice perk. The unit has a nice fan, and is Bluetooth enabled, so I can synchronize my iTunes library. The unit has its own built in 7 inch touch screen, or I can use my iPad. The 3.0 HP commercial grade motor should be more than strong enough for my intended use. Max speed is 12 mi/hr., and max incline is 12 %, both pretty standard, throughout the industry. No decline, but I didn’t think I’d use it, if it had it. The deck has some flex to it, to relieve stress on joints. I can turn off the flex cushioning, to simulate street running, should I so choose. I think I found the right machine for me. I paid $1,000.00 for it, on sale, and an extra $80.00, for assembly. Well worth the price, for its specs. I am excited. I will let you know how my first indoor workout goes, on Monday evening.1 point

Just returned from Dick’s Sporting Goods, where I picked up, (not literally) a new treadmill. Amazon did not have the model I ultimately chose, and I saved $300.00, by letting them put it in the back of my SUV. Nordictrack charges $200.00 for delivery and Dick’s had it on sale. I paid an extra $80.00 to have a pro come out to assemble it. That will be next Wed., but I can wait. I did a lot of research on treadmills, before deciding on this midrange model. It comes with a free year of the Ifit program, which will give me access to personal online training programs. So, I did something good for myself and my health.1 point

I embellished some- checked the Garmin I was at 32.3 MPH Felt like 35 lol Only real danger of downhills is flatting at high speed which is a certain wreck Sunday mornings is my base swim at pool. Swam a warmup then 1500m @ 32:00 then followed up with a :50 minute trail run. Today is my rest day to let my body absorb a week of training. Back at it tomorrow! Happy Monday everyone1 point
