  3. I am having a strong one right now and feel like these cravings make me start thinking irrationally so rather than doing something stupid like going out and buying a pack, here I am riding it out.....whew!!!

  4. Every time you want a cigarette but choose to abstain, you are reprogramming your brain. Trust the process Momma Bear. You're doing great.

  5. Going back to the pizza thing. In the kitchen making pizza dough. All that talk made me have a crave but it's for pizza not for a cig. K

  6. Day 109 Frustrated this last week. Had a problem Friday that just kept compounding more and more problems. Had a moment (a sarcastic one) where I thought gee I so glad I do not smoke now!!...followed by staring blankly into space. I really wanted a cig...there have been a few times this week I have really wanted one.... but I rather stubborn by nature and I not willing to give up 109 days for something that is only going to make me feel less than proud of myself and will do nothing for me...nothing good...so I going to keep choosing this quit and adding more days to it.....admittedly some days more challenging than others and we have a choice

  7. Momma Bear, When you have just started your quit the cravings will be there. You are more than likely feeling them for other things,(stress is my big trigger) it is our brain telling us something that is not true. We don't need to smoke, it is the memory of smoking that tricks us into feeling that way. That it will somehow make us feel better about the challenges we all face daily. I have not smoked in 5 weeks which I thought I could never do but I have done it. I just keep telling myself that new stuff will take over that space in my mind. Just breathe, find something to distract you for a few minutes, it will pass, I learned that here and it does work, K

  9. Hi and Welcome, It is hard but will get easier, I promise. I am only at five weeks so I still am struggling. Your handle is Momma Bear, Momma's protect their young, you and I are both doing that by making the commitment to quit. It may be hard but we will do it! These people will help you I promise! When I feel the crave I just get on here and read until I am somewhere else, that feeling goes away. K

  10. I did skateboard as a teenager, wouldn’t call it an addiction. I didn’t wake up in the night and have the urge to grab my skateboard and hit the streets or have to sneak out during a TV commercial to do a few spin kicks on my board.

  12. NOPE Wow, I just looked at the number of cigarettes I didn't smoke and the amount of money I saved. Incredible. And that's with less than a year and a half of being quit.

  13. I notice I don’t get winded, as easily, and my boyfriend has stopped nagging me about smoking. So now, I nag him when he lights a bowl. Effing Californians- bunch of potheads!

  14. Those red, dry eyes that I used to blame on a combination of allergies and contact lenses cleared right up after I quit smoking. Five years quit now, and I no longer have issues with my eyes.

  17. Good for you, Dianne! I am right behind you. This is a case where being stubborn works in our favor. I know, because, that is when I accomplish my goals. I never give up, if it is something I want badly enough. Keep up the good work. You only need focus on one day at a time…

  24. @Kate18, fishing is so relaxing. I like to surf fish, or fish off a dock. No boats for me. It has an instant calming effect on the psyche. I recommend it to anyone who needs to turn down the noise in their mind…..

  31. I just had a very vivid dream that woke me up. I was pregnant with our third child, and my husband was extremely upset about having another mouth to feed. He said he had to go out, and I was screaming at him, like a shrew. I was visibly pregnant, and so upset. For some reason, my sister was there, and I was telling her, “I don’t know why I acted like that! What’s wrong with me?” At that point, I woke up. It was so real. How weird. That third baby we shared is now 35, and about to become a first time Dad. My ex-husband, the focus of the dream, never liked being a Dad, so the dream was loosely based on fact. My sister was very supportive during my marital struggles, so it makes sense she was there. I divorced that guy 23 years ago, so why am I still dreaming about him? It was a lifetime ago. I agree that life has gone by way too fast. Let’s make the most of the time we have left.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
