@Abby, you are always so supportive of others, but this post shows you are in need of some help. First, let me say, you should try not to fret over situations you cannot control. Of course, it is stressful, but you cannot change the fact that COVID is here, and probably for the foreseeable future. It is not going away. As long as there are a significant number of folks, who refuse to get vaccinated, the world will remain in danger, and life will remain different from how it was, before March, 2020, or before COVID! You have to wrap your head around that. Here, in the U.S., a variant is running rampant throughout, causing new restrictions. I suspect that will be the case, worldwide. We have to accept that. So far, the virus hasn’t really affected my finances, but if it has affected yours, that must be scary. The thought of moving is daunting, for most people. I sincerely hope you won’t have to do that. But, if you do, I’m sure you can handle it, based on the strength you exhibit, when you preach positivity to others in need. Hang in there. We are all helpless, when it comes to changing what’s going on, during a global pandemic. We are not hopeless, however. Stick around here, reach out to your friends and family, for support, as you always reach out to others, who are in need. Keep the faith!4 points

Feeling more trendy and hip than usual. I've reached that point in life where by the time I hear about a trend, it's already falling out of fashion. However, with lumber supplies low and prices rising folks on the interwebs are looking into "recycled wood." Hip urbanites are figuring out how to build furniture using old pallets. I've been using old pallets to build things for a couple of years now. And I have access to a bunch of pallets. While I recognize it is a fleeting thing, I'm enjoying temporarily feeling like a cool guy.3 points

Yo- the drinking bone is only connected to the smoking bone by the nicotine addict tumor. Treat the tumor, you can drink without smoking. All things negative always lead back to smoking. Welcome aboard the train-2 points

No idea how I found this site but sure glad I did . ( DRS ) . Don't remember stuff like I used to . It's really quite fun here . The people are really fun and supportive and like I said , lots and lots to do and lots of incentives and encouragements to help . Can't ask for anything more except would be fun to meet one day . Like you katgirl I had an eight year quit with no support and now I have ten with support . I could leave , but why ? I am retired , I love giving back , helping and encouraging others and I don't want to forget where I came from ...that day one , you know . I also have waaay too much time on my hands lol especially in winter so hey why not . Besides I'm shooting for fifteen years smoke free . They say that's when you are truly a non smoker not just an Ex smoker anymore , so sorry people , you are stuck with me five more years . I'm not done living for a long time or if it's only a year I'm darn well going to have fun . Don't need smoking for that , just family , friends and quit train friends.2 points

And since Jo already suggested that liking this song meant I needed to turn in my "man card", might as well post it again.2 points

I am not sure I really need this site to keep my quit. I had a six year quit, in the past, without any support. Since I blew that quit, literally, I figured finding an online support group could be a good idea. Though I might be fine, on my own, I have found everyone so welcoming and interesting, that I decided to stick around, and I visit almost daily. Participating in the silly games is fun, too. Since I’m retired, I definitely have the time to contribute. I also enjoy helping others, as I am a born caretaker. So, a win/win for me.1 point

Welcome @Tikibarjohn!!! I’m sorry for your loss. You have come to the right place for support on your quit journey! Please watch the videos and read as many posts as possible. The personal stories concerning an individual’s quit are the most helpful thing on this site, for me. I’m glad that you are here and know that you will succeed in your quit and way to go on that weight loss!! Amazing!1 point

Well yes, that's kind of the point. It would be nice to compare experiences of people that did not find the site vs that did. But since the people that did not find the site cannot be here to answer the question, the alternative perhaps is to compare experiences 'before' and 'after' coming here. For me, it was a game-changer as I had repeatedly failed on my own by reading the 'how to quit' instructions. I had not realized that I'd need support to do this.1 point

Thank you to everyone for the kind words. I met my trainer at the gym today and told her I joined this site and she was thrilled. Really she was all smiles. Anyhoo, some of you have asked about my quit date. Their are several reasons, I'm going the Chantex route and that takes awhile to kick in, secondly I have a 5 day respite care scheduled for my mom the first week of Aug. It will be the first time in almost 4 years I will be getting a break from caregiving. I have not had an adult beverage in 13 months and my bday is the same week. So I'm going to indulge in a few, maybe several Miller Lites. The drinking bone is connected to the smoking bone, so those are essentially the reasons. May not be the best reasons, but it's the truth. Also joined the ashline here in AZ and spoke with a quit coach today. Again, thanks for all the positive comments and support.1 point
