Welcome aboard the Train John. Taking your life back is always a good call. You've dealt with adversity. You committed to a goal of losing weight and been successful with that. You can absolutely quit smoking. We know you can, it's important that you know you can. Looking ahead at quitting smoking can be more stressful than the quit itself. It's like a hiker standing at the base of a mountain. The mountain looks imposing, perhaps even insurmountable from a distance. Then he starts the journey and finds it to be a series of smaller challenges: a climb here, a scramble there. He keeps moving, putting challenges behind him, and eventually he reaches the summit. The view from the top makes the climb worth it. The process of quitting will challenge you, but it will reward you many times over.5 points

Welcome aboard John and congratulations on deciding to quit smoking for good! I'm sorry for everything you've had to deal with and are dealing with. And I'm super impressed that you've lost all that weight in spite of it. It shows that when you put your mind to something it gets done So why wait until the 9th to quit? You're here now and there's no better time. The farther distance you can put between you and smoking leading up to your surgery the better your recovery.3 points

do not know how I got here, just glad I am here. I don't think I would be doing so well with giving up the smokes without having the support of others going thru the same thing. I am grateful that the site is here. K3 points

@Robbie, we did zoom meetings and had a great time. We had two friends from England, one from Scotland, one from Australia and even one from India plus me during the full lockdown and it was so fun. Try that, you'll be amazed at how much better you'll feel after one2 points

I continued having my couple of beers everyday when I quit just so I WOULDN'T relate drinking to smoking and it worked great for me. In fact a couple times when I was really craving I drank a couple just so I couldn't drive to a store! Have you started the Chantix already? You may want to check HERE to see if yours is on the voluntary recall list2 points

Kris don't be hard on yourself . I've been trying years to understand technology . I'm not getting any better lol but people here are very understanding . Don't let it worry you . Don't make it stressful for you. See it it as a safe place where you can be curious and explore technology a bit while also keeping the quit . We have that opportunity without pressure . Others as you know have been so helpful to us both and understand . Its not about perfection or technology really anyway ( my opinion ) it's about quitting smoking and we do the best we can , mistakes and all . You must have already learned I'm a lousy speller .. a lousy computer speller lol .. technology stole that skill I used to have with auto correct that never corrects properly btw lol . Re pictures... everyone here is beautiful inside and out. I didnt take pictures in real life because I didn't see myself as beautiful and a very bad experience but let me tell you if you aren't taking pictures do because if you have kids they want those memories no matter what you think you look like . I learned the hard way .. now I wish I had my ugly pictures and I don't and they don't . Sorry I highjacked this a bit but I want to thank you for being so open and honest . You are so lovely . I see a beautiful person Kris . As far as me I am just an A for now too l. No pics and that's ok . Not real comfortable even after ten years on the net doing that but One day maybe .2 points

Great job, Linda. WTG! I have thoughts of lighting up, so minor cravings, I suppose that will always be the case, when I see others smoking.2 points
