  3. I just saw this . Hope you made it over the hump . Making a decision while smoking a cigarette , feeling ill , drinking , angry , sad etc is not the best time to make decisions . I've heard it said to give yourself a couple of choices then give yourself a limited time to choose one so you aren't stressed all day and then stick with the decision you made and follow through . In other words make it and let it go . Don't doubt go with the flow . We smoke mainly as part of a reaction to something . Your thoughts are turning to smoking as being a solution , , smoking isn't the solution , its a cry for relief , cry for the answer , or a cry because of uncertainty . Decision making is not a strong point for many of us myself included but if you make a constant , committed and firm decision not to smoke then you can make a decision in other things as well . It gets easier too . Not smoking is always a good decision . Will you or I always make the right decision in other circumstances maybe not but from each one we learn and in most cases everything really does turn out for good . Good job @Linda deciding to post , not smoke .

  5. Turn your processor off every now and again, Let the world solve its own problems for a bit. Load up on Loving happy memories, run, swim, jog swing, play or just relax. step back and shift your self into low gear. There will always be world problems to solve, but one day you are going to look up and your kids will be grown that restraunt you always said "we need to go to" is now closed or the one you really wanted to say I love you to is gone. Your Emotional, Mental and physical health should be #1 on your list

  6. Looking at the weather radar. That big storm they warned us was rolling in this afternoon has turned out to be little more than a light drizzle. I think the damage is going to be minimal...

  11. Yes Elsa was not a big deal here the other day, either. When it came up the coast we were at the Jersey shore. We did have a nice thunderstorm, which J enjoyed. We don’t really have those in CA. Very rare, there. Enjoyed the Wimbledon men’s final! A threepeat for Novak Djokovic! I love to watch the men play…. Go figure!

  22. @Linda, you do deserve a badge. Not for ranting but a couple of other reasons. - For posting here first - And your quit being stronger than your trigger so you were able to say 'Not an SOS' - that's so awesome. You're doing really well, Every time you face these triggers and overcome them, your muscles to overcome triggers become stronger. When I had newly quit, I used to follow the quit journals of quitters ahead of me and it was very inspiring and learning to be able to follow their journey, especially people who quit just before you and after you. I had mine too (on a different site). I don't see too many quit journals here - perhaps something to consider. The closeness and bonds you form with the shared experiences is very real - it is one of THE hardest things we will do in our lives and the people you do it with always remain special.

  27. My quit is not in crisis , just no idea where to put this . Perhaps it might help someone here . My quit is fine , it's safe , its strong , but addiction can be deceiving and unpredictable . It caught me off gaurd once and it cost me dearly . I learned though and I won't let it happen again . One puff is never enough . I think this SoS thread is a life saver . I committed to nope for a reason so I will stick with nope . When I feel l may give up or give in , I know I have the tools , resources , support and strength to get me through one more day. I am stronger than I think . I will reach out if I must . I can predict with absolute certainty there will be 0 percent percent chance of smoking at my house today . I don't do that any more. Today is another scorcher. Rain in the forecast ? Unpredictable most days . Stay safe , stay healthy , stay active . Heading out for my walk .

  28. Hi @Abby, another great post. You can put posts like this right here on the main board Oh and if you have trouble figuring out where to put something there's a brief description of each forum right under the title, or we can move it for you

  29. Completely agree, the NOPE pledge has been a huge help in the quit and having the S.O.S. there is a comfort. I also walk early in the morning especially since the 116 degree day a couple of weeks ago, nice now.

  30. Had a great time, it started out about 105 and kept getting hotter, Monday got the youngers together with airsoft rifles and let them go at it. Tuesday we all flopped out in the air conditioning, burnt out from the heat and sun. Wednesday I got the work that needed to be done done Thursday headed home, finally stopped at Peggy sues %0s dinner for breakfast. all went great all had fun and we ate very well Bacon wrapped Shrimp and sea scallops, fantastic rib eye steak and teriyaki spam and pineapple cabobs. Still feeling the results of the heat ended up Thursday 119, it was 100 at 530am

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
