  8. i hope I can say this one day but I want to have a big party with food and dancing! Call all your friends and family, plan the party! You have gone a decade and bet they don't remember you even smoked. They do not realize the great gift you have given them, you are still here! K

  9. Cool that you reappeared recently, in order to celebrate 10 years with us. It gives the rest of us hope for a long and successful quit, too. If you can do it, so can the rest of us…. Cheers!

  11. I started my new job yesterday and what can I say? After not working for 20 years?! I’m sure that I do not need to describe how I was feeling. But what I do need to say is at some point I started feeling a little harried and agitated so I checked my phone to see what time it was because it just had to be close to my 1::15 lunch break?? I literally almost broke down because it was ONLY just before noon. So, from that point on I was agitated the rest of day. I actually wanted a cigarette off and on for the rest of the day!!! When I finally went to lunch I went to the bathroom and cried for a full minute before I turned that off because I would still be crying, I think. lol Anyway, all of that just to say, “No matter how well that you think you are doing, that monster is still there. Be vigilant! Guard your quit! The rest of your life is just going to have to be one big long NOPE!!!” I’m just hoping today goes a little smoother.

  15. yep jillar, I'm a virtual human garbage disposal right now. I will have to get back on track later, right now I am just concentrating on the one thing I have to do. Wish you could come by and review my fridge and pantry, you would be on the ground in laughter. It is like being pregnant at 62! Doreen, I am being careful, I do not cut them in half anymore. I put one in my mouth and set a timer for 2 minutes. I remove said lozenge and place it on a saucer until I need another fix. Sometimes 2, 4 or 6 hours depending how well I am distracting myself. The instructions say I can use 9 a day, I am only using 3 or 4 a day with my new method. I want to get nicotine out of my life in everyway. K

  18. Okay guys, you have me totally confused now. I know what you mean, kinda. I now know what the phrase watching the tail means, I thought if might be something weird and I was not about to ask. I was concerned about putting things in the wrong place but did not realize that someone had to go fix it I also know what one of the funny guys meant by "I don't need no stinking badges" Yes, I know that there is some kind of quote thing.....one I still have learn. I won't start a new thread but I did go for a walk to deliver the bread I made today. Wait for it....the neighbors were not home so I have 2 loafs of fresh, tasty English Muffin Bread, just what I need hanging around. K

  19. The last few days I noticed my stress level has gone down a bit. I am chronically anxious, so noticed immediately that my mood was a bit lighter. Then I found an article that stated that by 6 weeks after quitting smoking, we start feeling less anxious. I am now 7 weeks without a cigarette. This would suggest that smoking causes anxiety, when most of us smoked to lessen our anxiety. How weird is that!?

  20. Hi Julia hoping this gets easier for you- YES smoking is worse than anything and the process takes some time to get through and ridding yourself of nicotine is part of it. Im no Dr (although I did stay in a Holiday Inn once) so I cant question your Docs thought process for suggesting the patch again

  21. I didn't look at it that way. Just looking for relief. I am already on antidepressant Cymbalta. Not sure what else could have prescribed. One thing for sure- smoking again is worse!

  22. Welcome Julia, Congratulations on quitting. Depression or anxiety is pretty normal in the first months of quitting so I'm surprised that your Dr would recommend a step backwards instead of giving you a temporary med to help until you're farther along with your quit. Reintroducing nicotine is only going to prolong the process, you'll still have to go through it in order to get past it. But were all proof that you can! Stick close and take a look around at our various forums. Lots of good information about our addiction here

  23. @Kris, sorry you're having trouble playing videos. Group therapy helps lots of people so hopefully you'll find it helpful too. I've never seen an in person quit smoking support group. And if that's the reason you're looking into it you may find it hard to find in your area too. Please remember that you smoked for 40 years! So to expect to be free of this addiction in your first month or few quit just isn't realistic. Especially if you're still using NRTs. We feel it takes a full year to get past most of the triggers a year can bring. And really no one knows better how to succeed then a group of former smokers who have right?! You can expect to feel uncomfortable and have pretty good craves at the minimum for the first month. My whole first year was hard, but doable because I listened to all those who came before me. I'm glad you're staying because I feel like you need us more then ever, we got your back girl!

  25. Thanks everyone, I am careful to follow the directions and have been actually using less of the lozenges than they recommend. I know there is such a thing as a nicotine OD, also just want to make it as easy as possible to stop using them when I am stronger in the journey. K

  26. Glad to hear the update. I have been thinking of you. Starting a new job is so stressful. All the new things to learn, meeting new people etc. I am glad you are taking some gum today. The only thing I can suggest try to just go crazy keeping busy. Offer to do any thing that will help with that. Move around the room if you can,, stay engaged with the children, check and help them with their work if you can. If the teacher does not need you for the slow times maybe she can check with the office to see if you can help in other rooms. The added bonus of all this is that they will see that you are a hard worker and a team player. You will get that salary to start increasing fast. Hope today is easier!! K

  31. Haha, would you believe it? I just got promoted to ..... drum roll ... Conversation Starter. And all I had to do was write a post that contained a number of correct keywords (new thread). Edit: No fair - got the notification but it's not showing. More Edit: Oh, it's a badge and not a rank - didn't know we had 2 things going. @jillar you were right about a game within a game.

  32. @d2e8b8, isn't that what the "What are you doing thread" is for? You know as a mod making all those threads in different forums will just make more work for me moving them where they need to be. Oh wait a minute......maybe there's a badge for that
    3 points
  33. Hmmm @d2e8b8 you might be on to something. Maybe starting threads is worth more. I know there's a badge for it so maybe....

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
