  14. Sounds funny to write it and say it. In all these years of smoking...sure I knew I was a smoker but the thought of addict. I never thought of that or chose not to. Being here one big day now.... I realize or acknowledge I am indeed a addict.....dangggggg

  16. Recognizing the addiction is a big step in quitting smoking. All of those "reasons" we smoked. That list of times we "needed" a cigarette...all null and void. We smoked because we were addicted to nicotine. We were addicted to nicotine because we smoked. Smoking was never anything more than us feeding our addiction. You have made a breakthrough here Dianne. Congratulations.

  20. @AceWhite great job . My kids were competitive swimmers and did just a fun biathlon swimming and running in a mountain town we were visiting once . To my surprise it was against adults ( they didn't specify age lol ) We threw them in for fun the last minute . The oldest boy 11 took the trophy . 2nd a policeman . I couldn't believe it ! He was behind in the mountain run and lapped everyone many times over in the pool . Training and practice and those sweet turns paid off for him lol . Grandkids and kids did mountain biking last year on some pretty wild and crazy mountain trails . They loved it . Once in the blood always in the blood . I miss my athletic days , but anyway .. today's business . Doing a ten k walk for groceries lol and back for a toast to that lol ! Warm and sunny today . So gotta get off here and go .... Our pools here everywhere are closed .. only swimming will be in the lake this summer . Beat your time man . You can do it . Whats everyone else doing today ?

  21. So glad you found us Diane. The first week is the toughest as you get that nicotine out of your system. After that, you have to learn to redirect those thoughts of craving. I found it was easier to hang around and get to know everyone. I read as much as I could, played some games and Posted a Nope each day. There was plenty of help and encouragement here. You can do this. Always keep the cigarettes behind you and keep moving forward to freedom.

  23. It IS amazing what a nicotine addict will sacrifice to ensure they always have some smokes! I remember saying to myself I'd quit once a pack hit $5.00 Obviously that didn't happen. Went way past $10/pack before I started thinking about it.

  30. Think that's pretty typical Dianne. We tend to think of an addict as someone huddled in the corner of an alleyway with a needle stuck in their arm, not someone like us just going about their daily routine. Realizing your own addiction to this insidious drug nicotine is an important step in fighting for your freedom. Well done Dianne

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
