Glad to hear you're ready to quit, lets make this your sticky one! You'll be happy to find that improved circulation is one of the first benefits you feel from quitting. I hope you stick close and reach out when you need us. Happy New Year to you too4 points

Thanks for the Happy New Year wishes, @JH63 I wish you a Happy New Year too. Quitting smoking will definitely guarantee a healthier new year. I suggest sticking around here and finally quit for good. I know it can be tough but the people here can attest that quitting smoking is definitely doable and is worth it.4 points

Thank you! This has been an amazing 7 years! Without this site and the help of its wonderful members I don’t think the outcome would have been the same. If you are lurking and thinking of joining, do it! It is worth it. Next year at this time I will be quit and have a new title added to my name BSN, RN. All of this snowballed from quitting at that point in life quitting was the hardest thing that I had done. Conquering that obstacle gave me the courage to conquer my fear of going back to school at my age.4 points

Why are you taking a break so early in your fragile quit Fluffy ...???? Reading your past posts ,you should stay close ....4 points

We really recommend sticking close for the first full year of your quit just so you can get passed most of the triggers the year can bring so please reconsider taking a break until you're more secure with your quit...4 points

HI! I'd like to wish everyone here a great New Year! I haven't posted here for a long time, but I have been lurking. I have decide to start my New Year with a new quit attempt. This past year I didn't smoke for 121 days total, seven different quits. The longest for 31 days the rest for various lengths of time. Nicotine addiction has a death grip on me. My health is getting steadily worse all the time. Shortness of breath, poor circulation in my legs and feet, I've already got a pacemaker. With any normal person that would be enough to motivate them to quit for good, not just stop for awhile and then go back to it. But not me! That nicotine monster is embedded into my brain 50 years deep. I know that I have to do this myself, for myself. I've known this since I quit drinking almost three years ago. Either way it goes it's on me. There is no substitution for my own willpower. I have a quit plan, but it doesn't very much from past quit plans. I'll let you know how things go. Take Care! Reminds me of that old Lewis Grizzard joke... Bubba and Earl see a dog licking himself. Bubba says: : Dadgum, I wish I could do that! Earl says: Bubba, that dog would bite you.3 points

Types of Quit. Every quit starts with a seed that is planted...... Abstinence quit: The soil is poor and the thin roots grow deep, seeking nutrients and sustenance. Constantly moving and searching to no avail. Above ground a gnarled stump protrudes. It's only branch produces fruit which never ripens. Month in and year out the tree becomes more twisted and gnarled “Bitterness is an arid emotion. It bears no fruit” Similarly a quit based on abstinence bears no fruit! It is only based on time.....tick tock....and it can end at any time.....tick tock Fair weather quit: The tap root barely goes down a few feet. It quickly feeds on all the surrounding nutrients. Above ground a slender, beautiful sapling grows. Soon it's branches are heavy with fruit.... and then a storm hits! A tree without strong roots will not stand long..... “Hoping without planning is like waiting for the harvest, without planting. Nothing happens!” All weather quit: The ground is rich and the roots grow thick and deep. They consistently feed the new sapling above ground. Early storms are weathered due to strong roots. The tree grows above and below ground. In it's first year it's tender branches bear delicate fruit. Every season it grows stronger! One season the tree produces a mass of flower and fruit and a huge storm hits.... The flowers and fruit are stripped. Branches are torn and a huge bough is split and crashes to the ground. Yet the tree stands! It looks bare and forlorn but true strength is often hidden. Soon the buds appear again and it grows to a wondrous size. The mighty NOPE tree Come and join the forest......3 points

This is Ayn now. (Eye-en) She is probably three weeks old. She was named Ayn because the Finnish baby name thing told me it meant "the only one." It probably lied to me but since she was the only one of the litter (and yes I'm 100% positive) she was named Ayn. She ended up with grey ears, paws, and tail but she is the cutest fluff ball. Sometimes the mother could lose interest with a single litter, but actually the mother has been awesome and has been bringing me Ayn to babysit from the beginning. She shoves her under my armpit when I'm laying down so she can get her breakfast and do her thing, and then she'll come back to snuggle with baby Ayn and me.3 points

I will try and if I need to I can come back at any time. I'll still have WiFi, but in the worst case I can set up notifications and those emails get sent to my flip phone so I'll still be a little bit close I can check in, too.2 points

Thank you! I think today is actually the hardest day for me because it is the end of the year. That is disappointing for me. I expect better things by the end. I can't really explain it, but I'm pushing through it as much as I can and then I'll let it end and get pizza, and then I might take a break from the internet for a while. I'll probably come back. I woke up every hour last night just thinking that I should just smoke but I cried all the night through instead and didn't.2 points

I watched "A Recipe for Seduction" last night. Sugar Britches was trying to explain it to me and I couldn't quite wrap my head around it. "It's a Lifetime Network short movie that's being made by Kentucky Fried Chicken" she said. "Do what now?" I responded. "It's a love triangle where a woman is engaged to a rich guy but falls in love with Colonel Sanders" she explained..."Colonel Sanders is being played by Mario Lopez." "That guy from Saved by the Bell?" I asked. If you enjoy the kind of show that is so bad it's good, you just might like this one. It was unintentionally funny.1 point
