Some days I'm pretty sure I don't even notice cigarettes, and I rarely, if ever, have a craving anymore, so I was surprised to have a dream about smoking early this morning. A man in his 50s, wearing a turquoise sweater and chinos was sitting next to me in a large event hall where many people were milling about. He pulled out a red and white pack of cigarettes and light up. No one said anything to him. I could smell the smoke, and it wasn't pleasant, but it wasn't as terrible as I thought I'd find it. In the dream, He offered me one, but I declined. I thought about how I used to find smoking relaxing, a pleasure, but I resisted. I remembered the quote that @johnny5 has on his signature line, that "If you have just one you will be right back where you started, and where you started was desperately wishing you were where you are right now. - Marvitta" I awoke and immediately came to the QSMB to pledge for Monday. Even in my dreams I am a nonsmoker now.4 points

Two. The family Boo is now the proud owner of two miniature donkeys. Here's the thing, miniature donkeys are very sociable animals and like to have barnyard friends. The farmer we bought the donkeys from was quick to point this out right before he generously offered a special price if we bought more than one. He introduced us to two young geldings named Peanut and Shorty. They were born within two weeks of each other and are pretty much inseparable at this point. Well...you don't want your miniature donkey to get lonely and it would have been a shame to split up a couple of lifelong friends. And the rest is history. We haven't brought Peanut and Shorty home yet. I've got a little bit of prep work to do before they can set up house. I need to put up some new fencing and build a shelter for them. Those are fairly simple jobs that I can knock out over the next three or four weekends. Peanut. Shorty. Welcome to the family boys.4 points

We highly stress education and awareness of nicotine addiction. It's easier to fight an enemy you know. At the top of this page there are pages tacked with a green pin, go thru them, read everything...read it twice Education is how we gain power over things like "romancing" and "cravings" You will learn that nicotine has actually changed the chemical make up of your brain, and you have to push the reset button. We use sayings like Not One Puff Ever, Never Take Another Puff not because we're brainwashed, but because we've gotten to know our addiction. We know one puff will lead to another. Quitting is all in your head... it's as easy or as hard as you want it to be.4 points

This addiction is powerful and uses your own mind to lure you back to feeding it. The thing is, you can control your own thoughts if you try. You really need to focus though. Your memories of smoking will only be the good memories , not the memories of all those mindless smokes you had day in and day out. Focus your mind on the good things quitting is bringing you and remember the reasons you quit in the first place. Those never change so don't let those reasons fade - write them down and look at them daily! Now that you have awakened your addiction once again by smoking those two cigs, you will have to really double down on your quit efforts in order to be successful! Understand that and be prepared for some challenges again in the coming days. If you really want to quit, it's still there for you but you will have to work hard for it.4 points

They're different than English muffins. They have an eggier taste and the texture is unlike anything else I've ever had.3 points

Oh Jswiss, as long as you cave to the crave, you will continue to be stuck in the same rut. You can learn to power through the craves and beat the addiction.3 points

It is so hard to do an iconic Aussie breaky without vegemite....but I'll give you a recipe for crumpets...then you can make the breakkie @Cbdave suggested: https://www.recipetineats.com/crumpet-recipe/ When you get to the bit about how you to eat them, you still need to toast then as described, you then need to butter them and top with a soft poached egg, letting the yoke seep into the holes. Crack of pepper and salt then ya done. If that's too tricky, toast some sour dough, smash some avocado on it and top with poached egg.3 points

G’day Biscuits are basically scones. You’ll understand those. The gravy is more like a white sauce don’t get confused with the gravy name. The lump bits in the gravy is sausage. American sausage is mainly sage spiced where uk usually include Mace or nutmeg. Not always in sausage skin but often as a patty. Not that different though. I recon you would eat it even with the diferent names. And trust me if you eat porridge you’d eat grits.3 points

That's disappointing to read jswiss. That's the problem with our addiction. One is never enough as I'm sure you saw by smoking two Saturday night. Nicotine is no different than any other addiction. And trust me when I say that as long as you continue to romance smoking you will never be successful in quitting....3 points

Still winning Location: Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, England Quit Date: 12th March 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Hi Abby, I think if we don't understand it can be too daunting to quit. I, like many others, knew that times when we couldn't smoke were hard (train journey, plane, car etc). We were pretty desperate by the time we could smoke again. That's because after 20 minutes or so, the nicotine in a cig starts to come out of your blood stream - it creates a lack which grows and hey presto, you think about smoking and do so the next time you can. Hope this makes sense so far To not smoke is actually easier, really, I'm being straight with you. Yes initially, you get those cravings, but they are only thoughts and can only control us if we let them. After that you actually don't start to crave every 20 minutes or so, it just gets less and less. Hoping this still makes sense and trying to take you the science type route. Emotionally it's a journey. However there are literally millions of ex smokers, look at it logically, if it were that hard millions wouldn't be able todo it Allen Carr book called easy way to stop smoking works great for some folks. You can still smoke while you read it. Whyquit.com worked better for me as did reading all the info on this site that's pinned at the top of each forum. People say education is key and it's true. When we can start to change our mindset from we need to smoke to be ok it gets easier. And that's where the self education comes in, you basically read and get info that appeals to your personality but the end result is the same. We know smoking is bad for us, we choose to ignore it. Educating means we can stop ignoring it and realize some uncomfortable times and some fabulous times (honest there is both!!) mean nothing in the face of the freedom we all now feel. Better health, better finances but also self worth. Keep talking as something you say may trigger something in you that makes your mind start to work against the addiction and read up, it honestly does help. Worst case, it can't hurt to do some reading and some talking right. xx Link to original thread: https://www.quittrain.com/topic/8-posting-an-sos/2 points

And they are delicious! Savory or sweet. You can even have em with penisbutter. I'm usually have them with vegemite, it melts into the holes. Don't mind em with golden syrup either, or honey. @Mona did you like them?2 points

I'm sorry to hear about your relapse Jswiss. You need to decide if you want to quit smoking or not. If you decide to become a non smoker then we will support all the way. I truly appreciate your honesty in regards to your relapse but we can not make this decision for you. Hop aboard the train and gain all the knowledge and support you will need to quit. Have faith in yourself to kick this habit.2 points
