  5. Try push ups. Or something else healthy. If you HAVE to substitute then make it something not harmful. But really just try some NOPE out. Quiting goes fine all by itself. No substitutions needed. When cycle end, you pick the time and date. Want it to be now? IT is now. No more thinking about replacements, read some more on addiction and the cycle breaks. Good work so far, dont waste the effort by making more work. Go do some push ups if you want still. ANd how do you not know if its the fifth or sixth day??????

  10. I was hooked on soft peppermint puffs for my whole first year and oddly enough once the anniversary came I haven't bought any since! You're doing great, I agree with Bakon, there's plenty of healthy things to get "hooked" on instead of drinking beer. Congrats on almost your first week smoke free

  12. thanks all. about covid though, i'm in taiwan, and it was taken very seriously here since day one (if you want to go shopping or go to work or school, temps checked at the door, masks on, and hands sprayed with sanitizer, no exceptions, along with government issued masks for every household, and free check ups at the nearest health center in every city. ) so it never became a crisis here. a case has never reached my city, so we can all have gatherings fortunately.

  16. Went to Dipper Harbour, New Brunswick today. I have a cousin who lives there and haven't been down to see him in probably 15 years. Drove to the warf where the boats had just come in from the 5th day of Lobster season We stopped by an old abandon wooden covered bridge which were a common thing in the early part of the 20th century. Day is topped off with a super nice meal at Billy's Seafood Company in downtown Saint John, N.B. late in the day. Cold beer, bacon wrapped scallops and Lobster Roll with Fries

  20. Oh but that's not fair most of my church music sucks....well some of the real old shits ok but we only get the that at Christmas and Easter...regular Sundays be mote like: And my all time favourite, because when they played this in the 80s it meant we didn't have to sing "his banner over me is love" because they never played both in the same mass...

  23. Jswiss Glad to hear you're nearing two weeks smoke free and able to overcome strong associations with your smoking past. I give you my 100% support and praise. I don't want to on your parade but I have to raise a concern. As a healthcare worker who got COVID back in early March, I loathe to see people ignoring basic, simple steps to reduce the spread of this killer virus. I'm tired of seeing people die and suffer every day at work. I find it very troubling that you're in a social gathering as COVID is raging to all-time highs. You mention that you're in a circle with smokers (needless to say they're maskless). As you take the amazing step of improving your health by quitting smoking, please consider the other major risk to your health (and others) and take the simple steps to slow the spread of this killer disease. Once again, highest praise on your excellent quit. Keep it going.

  24. Hey activeonly and welcome to the forum! Congrats on your quit! How are you doing now? The first week is the hardest. It's a bit of a shock to the system to quit, not only physically but mentally as well. You have your habits with cigarettes and it can feel daunting to think you would ever enjoy those things without smoking. I remember feeling anxious at the thought of waiting for the bus without smoking! Turns out it was totally, fine, I had just made those situations bigger in my head than they were and associated smoking with them more than I needed to. I remember that all of the situations I dreaded in advance were actually absolutely fine in reality without cigarettes. I had put smoking on some sort of a pedestal before. Hang in there and I promise it will get easier

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
