Most smokers are afraid that they will succeed in quitting cigarettes. They hate the thought of change. It's scary to do something you haven't done for years. So my advice is - don't be afraid. The nicotine addiction can be overcome, quitting won't kill you. Will you be uncomfortable - yes, but your attitude and understanding will help make it less so. Your body can heal from the damage smoking has done to it. Believe the people here when we try to help you succeed.2 points

Hello Quit Train Riders, Just a momentary pause to say I am still on the train. Over 6 months, $2K dollars and 3k cigarettes away from slavery. Sailing through the highs and lows with very few thoughts of smoking at all. Had a momentary major desire for a smoke earlier today and just looked at it and wondered, what the heck is this? Oral surgery went....safely. Am deeply grateful for: acres and acres to roam in glorious autumn opportunities to work the gift of health - for myself and so many I hold dear, and you dear reader! relationships that nourish my heart, soul, mind and body skills and habits that co create harmony and laughter filled beings and environments the beautiful wedding to my marvelous man my delightful cats and their happy days and nights fit, flexible fully functioning body because I do and contribute easily in comfort and grace knowing things change....and I will smile and be light of heart again hope your day is easy and laughter filled.1 point

From The Daily Telegraph Smokers at increased risk of coronavirus complications, leading experts warn. Experts say higher death rates rates among men could be linked to smoking By Anne Gulland, GLOBAL HEALTH SECURITY CORRESPONDENT 14 February 2020 • Lung disease experts have warned that that there could be a link between smoking and the development of complications of coronavirus as new research sheds more light on who is most susceptible to the disease. The large volume of data now being released by researchers shows clear patterns among those falling ill from the disease, now called Covid-19 by the World Health Organization. A new analysis of the first 8,000 cases of the coronavirus carried out by researchers in China and the United States shows that men are more likely to be diagnosed with the disease, are more likely to have the most severe symptoms, such as pneumonia, and are more likely to die. One reason for the bias against males may be that Chinese men are heavy smokers. The analysis was published as the latest figures show there have been more than 64,000 cases of the disease and more than 1,400 deaths. The ninth case in the UK has also been confirmed.1 point

Welcome Taylor and congratulations on deciding to quit. Why don't you start your own thread to introduce yourself? We have a great group of quitters here and I see you've been having a look around. Have you decided on a quit date? Because you know your quit starts as soon as you put out that last cigarette so how's now sound since you're already here and all?...................1 point
