  4. Getting ready to pick my one year old granddaughter up from nursery. Her Mom went back to work today after having a year off with her. She was so upset to hand her over to the nursery this morning. It,s been a while since I looked after a baby, and she’s,s a handful, just started walking so never still. A bit anxious but also looking forward to having her and building a better bond with her.

  5. Congratulations on marking your 8th full year smoke free Babs. That's certainly an inspirational quit and is a beacon for new quitters to strive toward. Hope you find a way to celebrate because quitting never gets old! (oops - my bad! Originally had this a year short at 7 years )

  6. Gday You can take the tips off ( give them to the dog raw they love them). Take out the small bone out of the flat, then turn back the meat and you have chicken lollipops.

  9. Yo! Have you heard of this thing called Coronavirus? It's a deadly pandemic that is completely out of control in the U.S. It's main method of transmission is primarily close, indoor contact. Exactly the type of environment you would find in Vegas. The probability of acquiring it increases exponentially with the number of people you encounter. Especially if they're from all over the country (potentially a "hot spot"). The fact that you're considering two agonizing ways to kill yourself 1.) the slow way from smoking 2.) the quick way from COVID-19, shows just how stupid and reckless addiction makes us.

  10. Hello Michael, Please keep in mind that smoking is Nicotine Addiction, one cigarette and you'll be an addict again. I once blew a 2-year quit because of a similar idiotic thought. 3 weeks quit is a great milestone because the Nicotine has gone out of your system, you should no longer have any physical withdrawal, those are just mental cravings which can be coped with. Take a deep breath, drink water, find something to do and it will pass. Quit smoking is probably the most precious gift that you could have given yourself, so do yourself a huge favor and protect this wonderful delicate gift. You got this Michael! JohnQ

  12. Michael, Your quit is very young, very young. You may experience some craves that come out of the blue and may be quite ferocious. These are the dying embers of your active addiction, some brain receptors haven't been switched yet. As time goes by, these thoughts will fade from aggressive to annoying to pffttt. Also, the first year brings seasonal triggers so, expect these. and really, throughout our lives triggers may pop up at particularly stressful times, a drama, a loss. These should serve as reminders that NOPE is the way to stay free.

  13. The wings I buy are already separated into Drums and Flats. The actual wing part is removed and not included because it's junk. In this pic, the ones on the left are the drums (mini drumstick) and the ones on the right are the flats (because they are flatter - not round like drumsticks). The drums have one large bone running up the centre and the flats have two thinner bones running up the centre and separated by a few millimetres. I find there's more meat that is easier to get off the bones on the flats. The drums tend to have more tendons and grizzle near the head of the drumstick which makes getting the meat off cleanly more difficult.

  14. I binged watched Joel Spitzer when I first quit. He talks a lot of sense. Another good read is Allen Carr, The Easy Way.

  15. As Johnny says, no matter where you smoke, you will bring it back and continue when you get home. I think you know that anyway. Definately junkie thinking and romancing the times, you did it before and enjoyed it. Its just nostalgia! Leave it there in the past, and stay smoke free. It will get easier in time, and you will learn to love your new smoke free life, and feel comfortable that you dont want or need that anymore. Stay positive.

  16. The junkie mind tries to figure out a way to remain quit and get it's fix. Does not compute unfortunately. Glad you're feeling better...

  17. NOPE, if you smoke anywhere, you will bring it back. You (and the rest of us here on this site) are nicotine addicts. They key is to put smoking (and other nicotine use) behind you once and for all. Things will get better with time and, at some point, you will no longer have to fight cravings like this. You are doing great with 3 weeks smoke free and these first few days/weeks really are the toughest time. It would be a shame to throw that away with a cigarette. Keep the quit. You will be glad you did.

  18. Thank you all. The support is very nice to have. I am a non-smoker and want to remain one. I have felt more confidence with each passing day, I was just sort of shocked at the last two days and the cravings coming up. Thank you all again. It has subsided for now, just have to maintain to never ever, Again.

  21. Best baked wings ever! You will swear they were fried (can also be done in air fryer) Nancy’s Wings 20-30 wing pieces (drums and flats) Food City will cut up the whole wings for you. Pat them semi-dry. 4 tablespoons baking powder (no aluminum) 2 teaspoons sriracha powder 2 teaspoons smoked paprika 2 teaspoons KOSHER salt Preheat oven to 425. Line baking pan with aluminum foil. Add baking rack and spray will with non-stick spray. Mix dry ingredients Put 10-15 wing pieces in bowl. Sprinkle with ¼ of dry mixture and toss. Add additional ¼ and toss, again. Repeat with additional 10-15 (I usually toss in two batches because it is easier) Cook for 20 minutes and flip. Cook for 20 minutes and flip. Cook for an additional 15- 20 minutes. Drain on paper towels and serve.

  30. I've eaten one or two of those and they are VERY fatty, and not the yummy fat like on a steak. More like blobby, slimy fat, not good at all

  31. We used to call those "the Pope's Nose" lol. They always went in the compost in our house They are very fatty I believe. If you eat them it's kind of like mainlining butter

  35. Trying to be good. Sugar Britches has told me time-and-again that we need to get Maddie on a schedule where she sleeps in her crib. I know she's right. That being said, I really want to go in there and play with my baby.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
