  5. I made a post here about a week ago after quitting (again) for a few days, but then there was an incident that got me really upset and depressed, I relapsed and I was too embarrassed to return to this forum. But then I realized how stupid that was, so on June 1st, I decided that I will not smoke ever again, I'm done with those pathetic excuses and I'm determined not going to get tricked by the Nicotine devil one more time. I know for sure that I will run into major events and incidents that would have great impact to my life and there will be days when I get mixed emotions higher than Mount Everest but I will not use that as an excuse to become an addict ever again. I'm so done this time. NOPE. June 1st 2020 will forever be the day I got my freedom from Nicotine.

  6. Hello everyone, my name is Nana. I have been smoking since I was 15 years I am now 41 years old so for 26 years I have smoked. At times I have been a heavy smoker and at times a moderate smoker. So there are many times that I have attempted to quit and not succeeded and there are a handful of successful quits, then relapse would happen. I use to tell myself that I can't quit. That I've never really succeeded to quit, so why even try. Then I started to think on it and realized that because the only way to succeed is to never give up. So I talked to my doctor and we decided on Chantix and Burpropion. I started the Chantix last Friday and once I get that in my system and if I need the Burpropion then I will start that. As to my reasons for quitting, Well they are many. For starters on March 24, 2020 my first Grandson was born. He is such a gem and a true inspiration to me and a very good reason as to why I want to quit. I also want to do it for myself. I want to live a healthier life. I want to be a non-smoker. Maybe not always, but more times than not. I think the only time I want to be a smoker is when I finally get the nerve and the strength up to try and quit. My inner demons are strong. My addiction to nicotine is strong. This will not be a easy fight, it will not go quietly. But I am stronger than my addiction I have raised 3 kids and lost both my parents. I have been through triumph. I have been diagnosed with Crohn's and Graves disease. I am still standing. I am the one everyone comes to to get advice. I know that I can be stronger than my addiction, I just have to remember that when I am in the throws of withdrawal. so for now I am going to go make some dinner take my evening Chantix pill and settle in for the night.

  11. Glad to see you back on the train John. Bad things are going to happen, bad things ARE happening so why add a cigarette related illness to it right?! Nicotine will use any excuse it can find to weasel it's way back into our lives. We need to think like never smokers do when these things happen. A cigarette never crosses their minds, ever..... Glad your back, stick close this time

  14. I trust you are learning more about your addiction to nicotine here Jeff. That might just be the key to a life long quit for you, which is the goal we all seek. Do what you can to avoid those smoking diseases you mentioned by cutting the ties to smoking now .... for good! We can't erase our smoking years but we CAN shape our future by standing up against our addiction no matter how long that might take!

  17. Hi Lilley, I thought you had this quit business all wrapped up. I couldn't remember when you had actually quit so I looked at your old account. You don't have a quit date listed but I looked at your posts and it looks like you quit in March 2019. So if you have been smoking since March, you were quit for a year or almost a year. So sorry to hear that you threw your one-year quit away and must start anew. Mona

  22. Keep that wonderful list of reasons for quitting close at had so you can read them over and over as the cravings try to convince you to give up on quitting. Those reasons are powerful and they will not change - ever! Maybe even post them up in the "Prerespond To Your Own SOS" thread which is located on the SOS page. That way it's there for you to reread whenever you like.

  26. Thank you Paul ! I am going to do it!! I am crying as I type this because I know how hard it can be - but I do not want to smoke any more... so I am jumping over to pledge - it's ok to pledge I won't smoke for the REST of the day right?? The battle right now is telling me - you are not ready - but I am never ready - I know I have to jump in and DO WHATEVER I have to and just not smoke - the other side of me (junkie) telling me I am not ready, I didn't pick a date, I don't have my lollipops etc - I mean I could list a million reasons - deep down I know it is all %&^$$ - so why I am sitting here avoiding the pledge?

  27. You can do it! The constant feeding of your nicotine addiction adds to your anxiety levels. Once you get that monkey off your back, you'll feel better and your body will start healing from the damage smoking does to it. You can work out a plan as you go.

  28. THANK YOU to everyone for your encouragement - So here is my current situation - I am sitting here drinking my coffee and I am out of cigarettes. Already thinking about getting in the car and getting some before I start work, but all of your wonderful words are telling me to just do it -today - if I do I will be the end of day 1 when I wake up in the morning I don't quite have my quit plan ready to go - but I know what works for me. I suffer from anxiety and the withdrawal of nicotine does not help ( no excuse - I also know that when I get to about a month of no smoking - my anxiety is WAY better since I am not in constant nicotine withdrawal - I used NRT last time to get through the first month - I find once I get to about 4 weeks - everything start to feel better physically and emotionally. I have everything I need to start today - so why am I going back and forth?? UGH

  30. Let us accentuate the positive. Happiness generates more happiness and happiness also generates strength of purpose. You quit smoking. REJOICE ! Find your bliss and your power from each crave scorned, each trigger conquered. You can also use the power from your mind, the knowledge of nicotine addiction and the relief on your loved ones faces now that you've quit. There are many sources of power and strength, not all of them are innate. Find them and use to strengthen yourself.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
