  5. So many things! Most present in my mind right now is the freedom from thinking about it all the time in some way or another...either actively using or looking at smoking gear and ashtrays...or smelling the stench in the car, or being paranoid I stink! Being constantly preoccupied with an addiction seriously impedes the personal growth. I am just starting to fully realize how much space in my mind the smoking was occupying. Wow!

  7. Howdy! After all these years (3 and counting) I still haven't taken the time to figure out how to post one of these neat-o memes? gifs? Here's my roll call response, as per usual, Don't judge.

  8. Note to self: don't let your child run around unattended when the machetes start flying. The guy in the background at 0:26 corralled that kid pretty quickly, but still...that was too close for comfort.

  15. Hey all , figured I would start a new thread here. Still smoke free since shortly after the Super Bowl, so almost 3 months. Not going to lie, it’s been a challenge for my body, especially with the Covid situation, the anxiety levels and such have been escalated to unreal measures. I have a question for you all , has anyone had sinus issues post quit. My problem is , extremely dry nose, when i blow my nose very little (chunky) comes out with a little blood. These issues have also caused ear issues . It’s been happening since the very beginning of April. Extremely frustrating. Doctor believes I have sinusitis that may have moved to the the ear. ugh , usually thought sinus issues are only when the nose is running like crazy , guess I was wrong. Was prescribed Augmentin and nasal spray. Hopefully it clears the infection and the spray hydrates the nose. This is driving me crazy and making me believe all sorts of things are wrong. any advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated. it’s hard seeing a doc here in michigan with the shutdown but finally broke down and went.

  17. Over the years here we have seen all kinds of quitters ...using different methods ... They get the same support as those who do it cold turkey .... All roads lead to Rome ..... The only concern we have is if people don't stick to the instructions and stay on it longer than stated ... Mona.....we don't care which method you use ...just quit ....

  18. I hate when I see that some people feel this way. I know for me that when I advise someone to get off them as soon as possible it's because I hate to see them prolonging the inevitable which is dealing with the nicotine withdrawal. It's kinda like someone who is "quitting smoking" by reducing the number of cigarettes they smoke a day. That never worked for me or anyone else I know of. Eventually you slowly go back up to where you started. That's the risk you take when you prolong NRT. That being said, it has helped a great number of people quit smoking so as always we all just need to take what we can use and leave the rest......

  19. Hi Andrew, at three months quit I doubt your sinus issues are a quitting symptom. With the freaky weather we all have been experiencing plus the stay at home orders it could be allergies causing your problem. I'm glad you saw a Dr and you have a recovery plan. I use a saline nose spray that helps a lot because of allergies and the cannula. hope you feel better soon and congratulations on three months quit

  22. Congratulations on your quit, @AndrewAsh I am glad you sought medical attention. Infections are serious business. Hopefully, you can learn some techniques to deal with your anxiety issues like deep breathing, meditation, exercise. All of which will help you through these dark days. Smoking only exacerbates disease and is it's own stress self generator. I had horrible sinus issues when I smoked, they abated when I quit. Another issue was my teeth, an underlying cause of sinusitis that western medicine ignores. Have a look at an anatomy book and you will see how everything is connected. I find Lymphatic Drainage Massage to be a helpful component to my wellness I do not know whether you are on any other medications to help you deal with your anxiety etc but here is a video Medication Adjustments That May Be Necessary After Quitting Smoking

  24. Thanks for checking in and giving us an update on being nicotine free for 25 days ! This is how NRTs are supposed to work. Excellent job, Tyler. Remember cravings are not commands. They are just synapses in your brain that haven't gotten the memo that you quit smoking yet. You quit smoking ! Celebrate and reward yourself for every crave conquered, every trigger disarmed. You are in power, not the addiction.

  25. Hello darling smoke free creatures. I have returned and very glad of it. I had a great break. Completed one abandoned painting and almost finished with another. Super happy about this. Got a lot of writing done and some powerful thinking as well. Thank you for your well wishes, love you guys. During my little holiday, I learned some new machete skills... may come in as handy...so, watch out. Bring on the bingo, @notsmokinjo

  32. Seeing as a pack of smokes costs more than a lamb roast down here defo loving the money I now seem to have so much more of. I love the freedom. But most of all I love that my kid wants to hug me and spend time with me because it doesn't hurt her breathing anymore....and I never even knew it did until she says something after I quit.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
