  1. G’day NOPE .....Not One Puff Ever.... (replace Ever with Min Hour Day as required!)
    9 points
  2. G’day I did the champix bit. I got to 8!weeks and discovered I had this quit. And how sweet It was. Couldn’t care less how I got there, but I did. And I was keeping it. No way was I handing this one back. So I manned up and admitted in my heart that I was an addict and no way was I ever going to have another puff. Not One Puff EVER! 41/2 years later, still making my pledge......

  5. Great news Sunshine .... Every member here has your best interest .... Some take the fluffy approach....some take the hard chat approach....some get a frying pan out ... But we all have the same goal.....to set you free....

  6. There's no weird reason sunshine it's simply that you're addicted to nicotine still. If it was a habit then any gum would do right?

  8. I found a pack in my desk I'm stressed about coronavirus Only when you ditch the excuses and hold yourself 100% accountable will you be successful. The good news is you CAN do it Irene. Look at all the knuckleheads here who did.

  9. Jo, it has never even vaguely occurred to me that one person's quit was inferior or superior to another's because of the method used to reach the same goal of stopping smoking and being completely nicotine-free by the end. Some might appear to be smoother or rockier, but not better or worse. So clean up that space between your ears to make room for some uncluttered pride in your beautiful quit (with extra points for your entertaining stories along the way).

  11. I will try some other gums as soon as the shops are open . Maybe i simply need something to chew , it doesn't have to be nicotine gums . Must look for sugar free and nicotine free gums .

  14. Not a lost cause, just a work in progress. You destroyed the smokes now you need to work on destroying the myths and lies of smoking. The only problem solved by smoking a cigarette is the same problem that was created by smoking a cigarette. Break the cycle, set yourself free. Buckle up, knuckle down, and drive on.

  15. You CAN do Irene .... Make that decision to never smoke again .... EVER...... Even if your arse is on fire ...... Take Smoking Off The Table .... My junkie brain understood these slogans ....I calmed down once I knew I couldn't smoke so except it ... Looking forward to you getting yourself to Freedom x

  18. Hey @Irene, first we don't consider you a lost cause! Second, your quit starts the minute you put out that last cigarette. That means your quit day is today Stay close, post often, especially when you need some extra support and we will help support you as much as we can

  19. I am glad you didn't obey addiction and flounce off, S, I am glad your thinking brain kicked in. Sometimes the truth is not 'fluffy'. That can't be helped. Keep us abreast of your progress quitting nicotine. This may help others out there who are addicted to the gum. We know, quitting nicotine is a big deal and will support you as best we can in our own individual ways.

  21. sleep, post something on the forum, watch movie, go to sleep. eat. sleep. Then after a while - repeat. seems like a perfect getaway / break. it nearly is - except for one reason. - this lockdown. hope things get better soon for everyone everywhere. just a while back woke up after a nap and coughed lightly after waking up. light in the sense that the guy next seat on a flight too would hardly notice unless he was wide awake. but the one thing i noticed was dark brown or near black but not black - phlegm. strange - never seen such a dark shade ever before. funny in a way because i suddenly feel like someone has added a new windpipe in my throat since i woke up today. i am smiling for no reason. is it not so wondrous to just sit down and breathe - to breathe so freely?. the resolve to remain smoke free is turning into a strong NEED from a distant want just a few days back. i thought smoking was good. some said smoking was bad. we were both wrong. smoking is nothing but plain - STUPID. our bodies are Eco-Freindly. we are meant to be re-recyclable. but if we add these stupid chemicals to our system we even refrain from that one small and possibly only contribution to mother nature.(at least true of the idiots like me) smoking gives me a HIGH - lol, how can something that downgrades your system do that ever? so delete the smoke virus and re-boot your system - try the new version of life with the new upgrades minus the smoke virus for a year. .if not fun you can go back to life plus smoke virus anytime. find a drug that can give you a high and keep you stoned forever - is there one? - yes, it is available on the shelf in your soul and free to pick out anytime. see the zephyr, smell the waters, feel the forest - that is 'permabliss'. remain stoned forever - but on stuff that not just give you a high but enhance you in some real way too. get so stoned on pure bliss that anyone just being around you feels like turning into an addict, lol. will i lose this quit now - never. it is not ego but common sense. i glorified smoking to be an friend, an ex and what not. now i see it as just for what it truly is - a chemical stick. a chemical factory. a chemical dump yard. nothing has changed - just that i do not see a guinea pig starting back at me in the mirror today. i see a dumb guy, not too bright but not stupid either. that is all it takes to quit smoking forever - just stop being STUPID. take care folks - just the after hazy effects of 4 days of true freedom.

  22. ^^this!^^ I also remember I was super sensitive the first year and some of the people I didn't care for my first few months quit ended up being some of my favorite friends as my senses started leveling out

  23. I appreciate you writing this Jo. I've been here for four years now and I have not seen any of these purity tests that are discussed from time-to-time. Not once. I've never seen anyone's quit discredited based on the use of any of the "step-down" methods available. Not once. To remind people that they are continuing to feed their nicotine addiction by administering nicotine is not zealotry, it is the statement of a basic truth. When I was a shaky-kneed newbie just starting the process, what I wanted to hear and what I needed to hear were often quite different. I am eternally grateful to those who told me what I needed to hear regardless of whether or not I was ready to listen. The truth will set you free, but it may kick you in the ass first.

  24. Right...come clean time...I did get back up last night and destroy the cigs...woke up this morning, had my coffee (never did enjoy the morning cig) and went to work(last day) and then found an open pack of cigs on my desk. Made another coffee and yes, I had a smoke.....I hope you all are not thinking, "lost cause", because I know I'm not. I am home now, smokes were destroyed at work. Tomorrow will have to be my start date as I already had a cig today. The virus has taken my freedom away for 3 weeks, but I know that I will get it back in another way...no more smoking!. Tonight I will start to view the clips that Sazerac had so kindly put up, and revisit others....as well as threads that were bumped. I know that I can do this...I honestly thought that I had it beat, and I will beat it this time...there is absolutely nothing I can do about the virus and all the other shit happening around the world, but I can and will win the nicotine war that I'm experiencing, starting with a daily NOPE and not just for the day, but just NOPE, and loads of reading and watching clips tomorrow. I know that I still have the support here...at work and with the family, and this time I wont disappoint.......thanks

  25. thank you for being my gaurdian angel and for infecting me with your positive vibes. i love the secret you let out - ' - Oxygen is my 'high'. Always available and beautiful deep breaths ignite my endorphins. Oxygen's happy high'. to be honest i never knew these sticks were this damaging. this is not just scary but criminal - the fact that we destroyed ourselves so willingly. wish i had dropped here or bumped into you sooner. thank you for the strength. like an ad-line for an suv goes - 're-claim your life'... that is so apt for smokers. it is horrifying now that you give me a peek at what is going on behind the scenes.

  26. @Doreensfree I like the fluffy approach , that itself makes me comfortable in posting the stuff that comes to my mind . Internet is all about expressing oneself in my humble opinion @BAT Thanks , i am so depended on the work out thread here

  27. watched it back in '14. may spring for more data for the next month and watch again. it is deeply disheartening to see that people intentionally do harm to one another in the name of money...or anything really.

  29. Yes helmethermit, you're getting it! This new freedom is what we were telling you about when you first signed up and claimed you quit accidentally. I'm so glad that you're seeing the benefits so soon. And coughing up that nasty looking phlegm is a good reminder of the nastiness you were putting into your lungs! It will just keep getting better, thanks for sharing

  33. Hi again...I had written the above and decided to get some sleep now its after midnight and having read all your comments, I'm feeling worse lol Sazerac, I started to feel overwhelmed about what was happening around me, which is no reason to quit....millions around the world are feeling the same emotions, and are in a much worse situation....I have plenty of support from my sister ( she quit 5 yrs ago ) and from the non smokers at work, who were gutted to see me smoke today. This is the second time I have now let them down, including myself.....the smokers were quite happy to have me back in their fold again. Your support means a lot and I thank you for that, so I have one more task to do, before I get some sleep, and that is to get out of bed and throw the cigs away. I will be on the train first thing tomorrow morning. Night all and once again, thanks for your support

  34. Me too Doreen. I thought those days were becoming a thing of the past. Since my husband has retired and I quit smoking, I am noticing a little flutter of the heart when my husband comes down from his shower in the morning. For some reason, the smell of his deodorant hits my nose and it reminds me of those younger days when we would cuddle and he smelled so good.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
