  2. well, I haven't smoked in over 24 hours. course, I haven't done much except sleep, hydrate and whine. Have read some on this site. I have read and reread my reasons for quitting. I have tried to compose a pre SOS to myself. Arguing with myself steadily this morning. My conviction of "I do not smoke" doesn't ring true today. Why go through all the effort only to fail later at an inconsequential upset where I choose to pick up? On the up side. I have not smoked for over a day. I am not eating my way through cravings.

  4. Long well worn road to get here, but finally I have arrived- I gave up nicotine once before, but somehow after many years she showed back up in my life. Its been a love/hate relationship, but finally I know i'm ready to be free of her once and for all. I know within a few hours memories of good times with her will creep into my thoughts but I am ready Challenge accepted Pray for me i'm headed into battle

  13. Congratulations on your quit, @darcy. The early days may be gruesome but, nothing you cannot handle. As you conquer each crave/trigger reward yourself with something, this could be a small purchase or even a thought that brings you joy...a bath, a walk...a nap. We are behind you, cheering wildly. We LOVE quitters.

  18. Still here. smoke free almost 2 days. Yay! Will need to begin acting like a functioning human soon. The worst part, so far, is my choice to be miserable to my guy. As if he has anything to do with my f'ed up life choices. At any rate.... I will try to make tomorrow normalish in terms of scheduling and events. Again, thanks for the encouragement, advice and humour.

  20. Hello and welcome ... You smoked again , because you still believed all the lies....and thought smoking would help you in some way . Smoking does nothing for you .... Take your seat on the Train ...buckle up....read all you can ...watch all Joel's videos.... Educate....Learn by what happened ,and make sure you are prepared for those times in the future ..

  21. Welcome Acewhite, Congratulations on making the decision to quit smoking and put your addiction to sleep. The way to freedom lies in making the commitment to NOPE (Not One Puff Ever) and holding fast to that commitment. Etch it into your brain. The 'love' you may feel for nicotine is a lie. This is not 'love', it is simply a lie of addiction. Please educate yourself about nicotine addiction. This will help you on the journey. We have a plethora of resources here so, read, read, read and watch the scary movies. This thread may be helpful 10 Ways To Effectively Use This Forum To Stop Using Nicotine

  24. That's because we are real sized lol. The negative head space is completely normal and is only temporary. Soon you'll start getting renewed self esteem and pride at being able to quit. Spew as much as you want here. We have a curse it thread in The Off the Record Forum that we've all used and it really helps getting that stuff off your chest https://www.quittrain.com/topic/835-can-we-have-a-curse-it-threadwith-warnings-as-sometimes-i-just-wanna-ffffffffffff/

  25. Thanks for the support. You all seem kind, funny and real sized. I'm feeling in such a negative headspace, I don't want to spew all over the niceness here at QT. I am lurking about and reading lots. You all really do have great senses of humor and kindness and butt kickiness.

  30. Irene, it was the humor that pulled me into this site and then the next thing I knew, I quit. The people here became so important to me that I wanted to keep the journey going. Many of us that smoke do not have a lot of self esteem and feel we do not have the willpower. The members here know how to direct you to that power within. Hang around, we want so much to see you succeed. It really is much easier than you think!

  31. I almost didn't join this site at all. I'm technologically illiterate and leery of anything that resembles "social media." Four years later and I check in here most everyday. This place has a way of growing on you. Grab a seat and stay awhile...It's a fun ride.

  37. I think every Quitter asks themselves that question .... I believe it's knowledge....not truly understanding just how insidious this addiction is .... Once I joined up the dots ....and made a full hearted promise ...never to take another puff .....I quit ... After smoking for over 5 decades....and countless of pie in the sky quits .... Once I put my whole self in ...not halfhearted... I did it ....you have got to want it bad enough !!!!! Oh ya ...and trying to keep hold of my indangered feet ...helped too ....

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
