Hello, Unless you were on QSMB years ago, you probably do not remember or know about Jonny 5. However, this very inspirational poster is celebrating his 8 years anniversary today !!! Happy 8 Years, Jonny 5 !!! Below is a re-post of one of Jonny 5´s famous posts from QSMB - Enjoy !!! YOU AND I ARE NICOTINE ADDICTS, THESE ARE THE RULES Posted 26 January 2014 - 02:48 PM If you smoked, and continued to smoke, even knowing it was very dangerous, then like me, you are a nicotine addict. YOU WILL ALWAYS BE ADDICTED TO NICOTINE, CHANGES HAVE TAKEN PLACE THAT CAN'T BE REVERSED because you are a nicotine addict, you can never casually use nicotine without reawakening the addiction THE GOOD NEWS IS YOU DO NOT HAVE TO CONTINUE TO USE NICOTINE BECAUSE YOU ARE AN ADDICT You can put the addiction to sleep, and live as if you have never smoked, never troubled, or distracted by cravings. TO ESCAPE YOU MUST NEVER INGEST NICOTINE EVER AGAIN, OR YOU WILL GO THROUGH WITHDRAWAL AGAIN sure, the habit part of the addiction may have been disrupted or broken through your quit time, but following relapse the physical withdrawals could lead you back to full time smoking again. I UNDERSTAND THAT MY BRAIN CHEMISTRY HAS BEEN ALTERED. I UNDERSTAND THE CONSEQUENCES OF INTRODUCING NICOTINE INTO MY BODY, I UNDERSTAND THAT I CAN NEVER TAKE NICOTINE WITHOUT MY ALTERED BRAIN RESTARTING THE ADDICT CRAVINGS ALL OVER AGAIN DO YOU?6 points

Gday The smoke haze is ever present. Early mornings and evenings the sunlight has to pass through a lot of smoke and dust so we get bathed in a yellow gold glow. Sunrises and sunsets are different too. The sun is just a big orange ball long before it touches the horizon. Sunrises and sunsets seem to take forever. Got a forecast for Christmas Day. A cool 27C with an 80 per cent chance of a storm. Just keeping my fingers crossed.3 points

I think I've hit a breakthrough in my quit. I was thinking the other day about New Year's Eve and planning my adventures for the evening. (They involve pizza, pajamas, and The Twilight Zone marathon on Syfy.) I was remembering last New Year's Eve and recalling how I spent most of the day smoking as many cigarettes as I could in preparation for my quit the next day. I thought about how I spent the last moments of 2018 smoking my last cigarette, which I extinguished at 11:59pm just as the fireworks were starting in my neighborhood. And I realized something... For the first time, I didn't feel any type of nostalgia for my former habit. All I felt was relief that I don't have to deal with it this year! I won't spend the entire day running outside (into the freezing cold) to light up every 15-30 minutes. I will be able to watch an entire episode of The Twilight Zone without taking a smoke break. My pizza will taste SO much better now that my taste buds aren't dulled by smoking. My pajamas will smell like fabric softener rather than a dirty ashtray. I won't feel the rising panic as the day winds down and my quit day draws closer. I won't have a literal panic attack as I stub out my very last cigarette. I will be with my husband at midnight instead of outside on my porch. (And I'll get a New Year's kiss this year, because my breath won't stink like cigarettes.) In short, this New Year's Eve will be something to look forward to rather than to dread. Isn't that wonderful? I don't miss smoking. Not at all! I love being a non-smoker!2 points

Thanks for the update Sazerac, I was going to post more but I didn't want to spoil all the happiness at this Christmas time for everyone else. It returned with a vengence around half a km from me and was watch and act for a while. I had to venture out though and the hot high winds were intolerable. Hopefully the temperatures will ease off soon. We now have the white haze back again and the Fire Alert is now watch and wait. It is so sad for those two young families bereft after their brave Husbands and Dads lost their lives fighting our fires in Australia2 points

I am delighted to hear this, Abby. Smoking took so much effort as well as stealing our lives from us. Thank you for sharing your quit and I hope you/yours have a splendid MMXX. Happy Solstice today !2 points

We (Mrs Steve and myself) are now on Week 7 of the Couch to 5 K . Absolutely loving it , now it’s 3 runs of 25 minutes each this week . I am only grumpy now when it’s a rest day ! This a great reinforcement for the quit and the buzz after exercise is addictive e2 points

Boom! Pulled 485 pounds on the Deadlift this morning. Listened to an episode of the Barbell Logic podcast a few weeks ago and changed up my technique for a one-rep max lift based on their advice. Slowed it down...way down. Basically pulled the lift in increments, really focusing on the feeling of trying to push my legs through the floor. Strength is vital in lifting, but technique can be a game changer. Well...I think I've patted myself on the back enough for today.1 point
