  7. G’day We got some relief on Wednesday night. 90 mm (3 1/2 inches) in 1 hour one hell of a bucketing. More rain than I’ve had in 6 months falls in 1 hour! Figure! Some places got 130 mm or 5 inches in that hour. Brisbane city it’s a relief but the best is that the Redland Bay Area and Stradbroke island copped a soaking as well. That will keep a lot of bush safe. Got another storm tonight and another 18 mm (3/4 inch) and my water tanks which supply my gardens are now overflowing. The whole of the east coast needs rain desperately. They are taking about some current in the Indian Ocean has changed and we could be in for some better rains in the new year. Here’s hoping chris

  14. Such a relief, yesterday and last night plenty of rain. I'm not sure if its in all the right places outer farmland and inland. For me 1.6 mm, quite lot . chance of showers 50 percent, instead of none. Maybe we can enjoy Christmas now instead of worrying.

  15. You're doing great @HeatherDianne and everything you're going through is completely normal for where you are. The constant thoughts of cigarettes drove me crazy but just wait until you wake up one day and realize smoking wasn't the first thing you thought about. It's a great feeling and one I still remember like it was yesterday

  17. Thank you so much for sharing.... I am in a weird place with my quit too... I don't want to smoke but life seems grim having to constantly be worried about triggers and cravings.. I am only a month in - I have a long way to to go to get to a year - I have to look at it one day at time - but after a month - I have to admit - I want to be quit more than smoke, and I hope the rest of my life, emotions, etc catches up with me soon. I haven't replaced smoking with anything in particular, but I am trying to find little projects to do each day that I would have stopped and started over and over again to smoke. I find most of the time by the time I am at the end of the project - my smoking thoughts disappeared . I have been having a lot of smoking dreams lately and wake up thinking I blew me quit. This does not help because all of sudden every morning is all about smoking. I loved the morning smoke (junkie needing a fix) so lately I feel like week 5 is worse than week 3 because I have so many more smoking thoughts - even just to tell myself it was just a dream. UGH You are not alone and I admire your post - I needed to see others are struggling. It is hard to accept that I might still be in a weird place by the time I hit 9 months. But I want to live a year of my life smoke free - in all my past quits I have never made a year. I think the junkie in me knew if I made a year I would be FREE. But again I don't focus on that. I do day to day or I am finding I can now plan a smoke free weekend and know confidently I will not smoke. Not a chance

  21. Really wish the folks who make Christmas cards would take it easy with the glitter; that stuff gets all over everything.

  28. No need to delete the post. The holidays can be a stressful time and it is good to have a lot of information about keeping the quit during them. It sounds simple but really NOPE is the way to go. Make sure that you realize that nothing is worth blowing a quit over and do whatever you need to keep your quit and never taking another puff. It may involve avoiding alcohol if you are in stressful situations where drinks are available. I would definitely advise this early on in your quit. It may involve going into gatherings with relatives that you know you clash with by having the attitude that nothing they will do will lead you to smoking. You will not let them have that control over you. Families are a beautiful but stressful thing. Most of my family is somewhat normal but there are plenty of clashes and alliances when the whole family gets together. The one group that really stresses me out is one set of grandparents that are in their early 90's but have always been very manipulate, controlling, and deceitful. I had a big falling out with them a few months into my quit and I thought really hard about lighting up. I decided that I was not going to let them have that type of control over me. In fact, I was so angry with them that I refused to let the have that control over me. If there are relatives that go out of their way to piss you off, use that anger and stress to strengthen your quit. Promise yourself that you will not let them have that control over you. Quitting smoking is all about gaining control of your life back anyway.

  29. THE GAME POLICE have been summoned. @mightybooshbegan the cheating flurry. I am SO disappointed in YOU ! @bakonto follow is a 'no brainer' and I just don't know what to say, @despair not. TSK TSK TSK and you better believe the next spanking will be quite SEVERE. I am taking this back to -2 one of the punishments will be to annul ALL of your contributions. I will try and 'forget' you were so mischievous. Just wait till The Triumphant Chicks find out. Y'all are going to be in serious TROUBLE. Love, Saz

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
