  3. My ticker says 30 days at the moment and that reminded me that I quit a few years ago for 30 days. It was a weird quit in that I said to myself at the time that I WOULD start again if I did a month! This was to prove to myself that I could quit whenever I wanted to. This is the smoker's odd reasoning which we're all aware of, truly ridiculous thinking. It didn't work of course, I was back where I started, in the grip of a monster again. That's the warning. I read on here that Nicodemon does this to some people, a sort of complacency thing and a con trick to make us think we're in control. We're only in control if we NOPE with 100% conviction and don't test ourselves with such nonsense. The demon is very wily, full of tricks so watch out!

  4. Last day of summer today. It was a great one where I live. Hope it was the same where you are. I guess for the Aussie's it's the last day of winter (such as it is down there). Tomorrow we usher in Autumn. That magical visual time of year! Then .......................................................................................................

  5. Yipper summer has ended here (had a really good summer, not too hot or dry). However, the rainy season has started much to early. We already have 3 times the amount of rain we get on average for the whole month of September. Oh well at least it is not hot and my favorite season is underway!!!!

  7. Boo - I am jealous that you live in Tennessee. I dream of living there. I was married in Sevierville (near Gatlinburg) and it is simply stunning. I am super glad fall is here - it is my favorite season! It could stay fall forever and I wouldn't mind a bit. I love the trees, the smell of bonfires, deer hunting season, etc. . . I just wish it would come like flipping a switch, lol!

  8. Thanks all. I'm really pleased to have a decent amount of quit time behind me. It's going really well. I promise I will be celebrating many milestones in the future.

  15. Beautiful country. I love the fact that in spite of the Great Smoky Mountains being the most visited national park in the system, you can still get a little off the beaten path and get away from it all out there. A friend of mine lives in Townsend, which is just a bit south of Sevierville. He has a 360 degree view of the mountains from his house and can walk to a river with great trout fishing. That dude is living the good life. I live in Dayton now. About 100 miles east of Nashville as the crow flies. Not being a crow, that equals roughly a two-hour drive to Music City.

  16. Our summer is over today also. We are still having days in the 80's with humidity. I love this time of year but dread winter. My husband is finally retiring in January. Looking forward to being a snowbird!

  20. Thinking about the funny dream I had last night. Apparently a friend and I went on some sort of ride involving a boat and after the ride we were walking back and were in front of a couple ladies. Yours truly really had to fart so I THOUGHT we were far enough ahead to sneak it out. Luckily it was a silent but deadly and I know this because of two things. 1. It was silent and 2. I heard one of the ladies behind me say "p.u. who just sprayed us". OMG I laughed so hard I woke myself up!

  21. Summer over stays every year here. September and October are nice and warm with Santa Ana winds but it will be nice to get some rain. Our last measurable rain was in May and by measurable I mean about 1/8 of an inch

  22. The good news is: we had a couple of days where the high stayed below ninety this week. The bad news is: another wave of hot air is on its way this week. October is a little over a week away and we're still looking at temperatures pushing 100 degrees. Summer has a way of overstaying its welcome here in the South.

  23. I don't see the allure of them myself but I get your point. Younger peeps want something slick, substantial and easy to use and carry. Something that when they put it to their lips, it's very different from a cigarette. You may be right on future regulations surrounding e-cigs. I'm imagining an e-cig. in the shape of a skull & cross bones perhaps or at least a label with such attached to the packaging And what about taxation on not only vape devices but the juice pods or whatever they're called? Cigarettes are heavily taxed in most countries. As far as I know, there is no such "health tax" on e-cigs or the juice pods they sell. I heard and advert today on local radio for a "starter kit" at $12.95. Includes a vape pen & juice pod. And, oh yeah .... when will the public advertising stop as well. I haven't heard an ad for cigarettes since I can remember!

  33. Oh wow. @reciprocity That looks SO good. Perfectly pink ! Will you make a stock from the bones ? I covet those bones. I am still testing my new cooker, pressure, rice, yoghurt, egg, slow cooker. It is the best tool I have had in a v. long time. Friends came over unexpectedly with Vino Verde so, I fed them White Beans.a la pressure cooker. I was planning on these for me, for the week. Bay, Onion and dried cayenne from last years garden and White beans (soaked overnight). OMG SO creamy and excellent. after they were cooked I threw in a big handful of fresh dill (tied w/ string) and a little salt. Forbidden Rice. New cooker, perfectly cooked rice. Never had Forbidden Rice before. It is black, very nutty and packed with super nutrition. Nutrition Facts per serving. Look at the protein, amazing ! There are lots of antioxidants as well on their profile. I am really impressed with this and it is really, really tasty. Protein 9.5g Carbohydrates 72.41g Sugar 0.68g Fat 2.35g Saturated Fat 0.476g Polyunsaturated Fat 0.836g Monounsaturated Fat 0.85g Cholesterol 0mg, Fibre 2.8g, Sodium 12mg, Potassium 186mg Roasted Red Peppers I roasted red peppers on the stove while guests gathered. Sliced peppers up with a slash of homemade red wine vinegar (ask me about this magic ! ) and a smashed garlic clove. Tofu Slabs. Melt down a few shallots in Olive Oil, turn up heat, add sliced inch slabs of Tofu, brown on one side flip. HOT pan, Shake out some soy sauce, shake out some red wine vinegar (ask me ) scrape the bottom remove from heat, scrape into serving bowl, sprinkle liberally with nutritional yeast. Got Vanilla/white chocolate Ice Cream from the corner store, it has a crust of white chocolate on top and put on some frozen Calamondin mush. I had put this to freeze last winter when a friend gave me a few bags of fruit.

  34. I bleed Cardinal red but the series in Chicago has been a tough one for the Cubs. They could have easily won all three games. They have had their share of bad injuries at the wrong time. Watch out for the brew crew. Cubs go to Pittsburgh that has been giving up 10 runs a game it seems like and don`t put it past the Cubs to sweep the Cardinals in St.Louis for the last series. You never feel safe whoever you root for when Cardinals and Cubs play each other.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
