Move a Muscle, change a thought... I have been in the same place and actually done the same(got a couple ciggs), when i didnt smoke and beat the crave the feeling of victory was so good. Going for walks was a big thing for me (move a muscle , change a thought) . The crave will pass and dealing with the situations get better and better. Good job @Sunshine59, remember this next time for some help4 points

Good job sticking to your quit. I am glad you had the power to throw them out. Cigarettes do nothing to serve you!4 points

Lilly just moved back to wherever her home was. That was a week or two ago. She said she would be out of touch. She seemed to be finally grasping her quit. Hoping the best for her.3 points

I'm glad you successfully fought through that, Sunshine. I read that you got two cigarettes and I feared the worst. I'm glad you threw them away without lighting up.. Good job. If you ever get to this point again, though, please reach out for help here before even buying the cigarettes. That is too close.3 points

Hopefully this will set a trend -- I live in the Northwest and can see Oregon and Washington going thru with this also in the near future (hoping anyway)!!!!!!3 points

Great Job sunshine59, whatever you can do to get rid of the craving. As Whispers states -- take a walk that always helps me. I have had thoughts of getting a pack but always look at where I am at and the overall improvements, if it gets drastic I pull out the plastic cigarette I have and suck in straight air and it seems to do the trick. You have this and doing well!!!!3 points

I stood at the bus stop this morning .... There was a woman older than me with a vape machine in her hand I watched her take a deep long puff.....I waited to see how much smoke/vape would come out ...and I waited ...nothing ....nothing came out .... I asked myself ...where has all that crap gone ....I could only come up with one thing ...... her lungs ... Scarey !!!!3 points

My dad turned 73 years-old earlier this month and today he started the fourth week of his new workout regimen. As he got his strength back after having double bypass surgery last year he made a point to stay as busy as his body would allow. He picked back up working on the family farm and made a point to walk a minimum of 30 minutes a-day. It has worked out well for him. The more exercise he got, the better he felt. Unfortunately, a couple of the doctors he sees didn't seem to understand that he was feeling much better physically and mentally by staying busy. "Take it easy" they said, "you have to understand the limitations of a man your age." Nothing motivates the old man like getting pissed off. Dad said: "those bastards (his doctors) are telling me I need to sit in a rocking chair and wait to die." He concluded by saying: "they can kiss my ass." I gave him my copy of "The Barbell Prescription" by Jonathan Sullivan and Andy Baker. Also put him in touch with a guy I know in Cleveland who knows more about strength training than anyone else I know and he agreed to train my dad. Right now he goes to the gym twice-a-week to allow for plenty of recovery time between workouts. His trainer has him focused on three of the fundamental lifts: Deadlift, Overhead Press, and Bench Press. Every workout session is built around the Deadlift for the time being. On days when he doesn't go to the gym he stays busy (working and walking) and he recently bought an airdyne bike that he rides daily. I'm not advocating a reckless approach where anyone takes on more than they can handle. However...finding a good starting point, working from there, and making continuous progress will provide great benefits to anyone regardless of age or any other factors.2 points

Well that is what it looked like. That is awful. I can not see where anyone would think that is better than smoking.2 points

Well done for your father, glad he can see the big picture and follow what his body says. Reminds me of my father who at 70 told him the same thing(which he did not do), and now he is 89 still moving along good. The more exercise you can tolerate the better you will feel physically and mentally!!!!2 points
