This right here is why you keep going back. You are giving the cigarettes too much power. As others have already said, the power is within YOU. The cigarette can't jump into your mouth and light itself. The choice is YOURS. We are all addicts here. None of us had it easy. We all struggled with addiction and the desire to quit. (Otherwise we wouldn't be here.) And we all made a choice to stop putting those sticks in our mouths and lighting them on fire. That's it. There's no big secret to it. You make the CHOICE every day...every hour...every minute...NOT to smoke. I believe you when you say you want to be a non-smoker. I'm here to tell you that you CAN make it happen! I'm here to offer support anytime. Don't hesitate to reach out. Love, Abby4 points

Keep posting about what you are feeling. When you see your words you can't help but have awareness of your Self Sabotage. You can break this silly and dangerous pattern. It is all about choice. You have power to put nicotine away just like all of us did. It is not rocket science. It is a simple choice. NOPE. The addict's voice is LOUD. You needn't listen and obey anymore. Go forward on the journey.4 points

Can't Help Falling In Love. Sorry but I am a smuck when it comes to love songs. I did like him in the beginning and enjoyed his early movies. I think Boo should use this song for his first dance, with sugar britches, on his wedding day. Of course we all know Boo has these moves down for the other dances!4 points

Lilly, it is plain and simple that you are an addict. You become obsessed with that cigarette you are not going to have the minute you quit. That is what an addict does. You need to concentrate on how wonderful a life is without them. I was scared to death to quit but the minute I realized I could, the thought of going back repulsed me. Once you gain the power to quit, you need to hold onto it. Respect it, admire it and hold onto it with all you have. Distraction is the most important. You were a wonderful blogger. You really put meaning in your feelings. You are worth so much more than that cigarette. I believed in you from the beginning. Now, you need to believe in yourself. This illness has gotten you through the withdrawal period. Take that and go with it. You have the power to do this!4 points

I just want to clarify something. I love those ads on TV, telling kids what happens to people when they smoke cigarettes. And those ads have made a positive difference in America's smoking problem. But when people propose using brutally honest ads to warn kids about opiates, there's a group in the background, blubbering about "not stigmatizing addiction." Well, nobody's trying to stigmatize addiction. Warning kids with the blunt truth is a nice thing to do!!! Giving kids real-life information is the best way to help them!! Anyway, the lack of common sense in my country blows my mind. Sorry for venting!!!4 points

Anniversaries are a good time to take a trip down memory lane. Three years ago, I finally decided to jump on the Quit Train publicly after lurking around for a couple of weeks. I was unsure of a lot of things. Didn't really know if I could quit smoking. Frankly, wasn't 100% certain that I wanted to quit for good. Didn't really know if an online forum was for me. I climbed aboard anyway and it was one of the best moves I've ever made. The Quit Train and its members mean more to me than you'll ever know. This place was a refuge of support and knowledge in those early days when I needed all the support and knowledge that I could get. Now I enjoy watching the newcomers win their own personal battles and achieve freedom. The fact that this place is a lot of fun and has given me the opportunity to meet some genuinely awesome people is a nice bonus as well. A sincere thank you to each and every one of you who have made these last three years a great ride...Stay awesome Quit Train.4 points

awww Thank you guys for the birthday wishes another hour till the official day (11th) but started with a tipple tonight ....as you do... pre birthday day drink My Son is cooking the evening meal for me, so looking forward to that, he's turned out a good cook. I'm surprised as he never cooked anything when he lived at home!! a cheese slice sandwich and a tin of hot dogs used to be his idea of a meal and everything served on a paper towel, as he hated washing up! Funny now he loves cooking for his family and friends, but still hates washing up.... guess what we bought him when he moved into his own home...... yep a dishwasher!3 points

Sorry I haven't replied to this topic or thank everyone for the help and encouragement I received when I started my quit. LMAO ...you should ask how I spent my 2 year quit. Well I didn't do anything different other than near the end of the day I looked at my wife and said..Hey it's been 2 years that I haven't smoked today. She looked at me and said ..i wondered if you were going to say anything or not, I didn't want to bring the subject up. That my friends is how much I think of it anymore. I have no desire to reflect or think about just how next to impossible it seemed to do. Don't get me wrong it's not all peaches and cream..that dam nicodemon peers it's ugly face now and again but nothing like that bastard use to be !! Thank you all once again and God bless all you who have quit and are trying. YOU CAN AND WILL DO IT. That's what I lived by.3 points

Stop giving the smokes so much power Lilly... you are the one with with power, only you... you need to be the one to not put something in your mouth and burn it. The battle isn't with anything but yourself Lilly.... you have to let yourself win... first step is believing you can do it.3 points

Lilly - it's the same for all of us no matter what path we take to quit smoking. NRT Champix or cold turkey; doesn't matter, It's all the same in the end. You have to be prepared to endure a short period of discomfort in order to feel normal again without smoking. It's just the way it is for everyone. Until you are prepared to go through that adjustment you will struggle and repeat the same scenario you have done for over a year now . You need to just quit smoking!! It won't kill you but continuing to smoke might just do that Based on what you have said over this past year I am very concerned that you may have already done damage to your lungs. Have you seen a pulmonologist for an assessment of your lung function in the past year? (A PFT assessment and CT Scan of your lungs) If not; please do this. You need to stop smoking right now and get your lungs checked. This is serious business. Just do it no matter what the temporary upset to you might be. You can't afford to go on like this! I'm sorry if this upsets you but you need to address your addiction to nicotine immediately! We all thought we could not live without cigarettes at one time but we have all just said ..... NO; no more!! And, we have all endured what ever discomfort we had to in order to come out the other side as non smokers. YOU CAN DO IT TOO!! You need to believe this and just do it. Like I said, quitting won;t kill you.3 points
