Self- confidence and confidence in your quit grows exponentially with every trigger and crave you beat. I was left with a profound trust in myself after years of carelessness and bravado. Still, I know I am an addict and one puff away from relapse. Therefore, I do not nudge the addict awake or give the addict any opportunity but, after five years of freedom, the voice of the addict is notably mute. It is a peaceful freedom. So, if you are young in your quit and feel weary of the struggle, hold on. You won't be thinking about smoking or not smoking forever. I promise.2 points

I have a hard time communicating in cyberspace; when I read my posts they sound harsh, but that's not my intention. So I hope I don't sound that way to any of you. I wouldn't be critical of anybody who uses vaping to get off cigarettes. I don't feel certain, for myself, that vaping is safe, and I've already done a lot of damage to my body, so vaping wasn't for me. But that's a personal thing, and I support everybody in their battle against smoking, however they go about it.2 points

I met a girl whose mom worked for Hospice. And she told me her mom said patients who vape were dying at young ages from vape fluid in their lungs, and that her mom thinks vapes cause danger even fast than cigarettes. I don't know if it's true, but it made me sure I wanted to quit instead of replace cigs with vapes.2 points

I started on/off smoking at 18 (post high school) and daily at 22 in college. So, like JB, my child years were pretty much behind me I was an avid cyclist. Still am but I use my exercise bike more than my real one. Waiting for warm weather to return. I also remember having more hair back then. Can I blame that on smoking too?2 points

Lets just look at just one ingredient... cocoa... why would they add that... 2 reasons... it is improves the flavour and its broncheodilator. .... Because when cocoa burns it undergoes a chemical change not just a physical change the chemicals released from it are toxic... in high enough doses... So the nae sayers are right, if all of these chemicals are in a single smoke they are in minute quantities in that single smoke. Sure some are like iron, not able to be stored in your body, but some are like mercury and will stay in you body for years, if not longer, building in toxicity levels and concentrations until they hit critical levels. Sure the levels in one smoke are microscopic... so what! We aren't here because we smoked one smoke... we are here because we smoked multiple smokes, every day, for years.... lots of the items listed are harmless or even healthy on their own... not all alter chemically when they burn... not all combine within other items listed to make something new and more deadly when they burn and on a per smoke basis the levels are not significant but the the levels of some of these build higher and higher with time. Every smoke adds to your internal toxisity... its not a joke or scare tactics.... those things listed up their are what we need to be aware of.... what we need to know that if we continue to smoke we are putting in our bodies.1 point

Oooh resistance bands are one of the things I looked at. I think getting into exercise is really hard but seems like once you push yourself to do it then it becomes quite addictive. Probably the best addiction to have ?1 point

Has anyone tried those fitness plate things. Been hearing a lot of positive stuff about them but I always prefer to find out from people who have used them.1 point

Well, I never liked to run but I need a little more warmth to get out there. I have been enjoying the scenery on the treadmill at Planet Fitness. They have t.v.s you can watch and I have gotten hooked on HGTV. When I get in shape, my husband is in big trouble with the home renovations I want to take on.1 point

Wow. Two days in a row. Being able to track that and watch it must make you feel so powerful!1 point

There is overwhelming evidence now about the danger and the chemicals involved in vaping and the discrepancies over nicotine levels. The fact is, inhaling anything into our lungs except clean air is dangerous. The major companies are hiding behind new shills to keep their captive audience, addicts.1 point

Maybe you haven't approached quitting with enough information or taken the information to heart. Maybe you have only given lip service to understanding addiction. Maybe you are still into the addict's romance with their drug. These things need your focus and attention in order for you to have a successful quit. This is worthwhile work. Immerse yourself in the process, for it is a journey and one of self discovery. It isn't all unicorns farting rainbows but, the inner strength and self respect you gain from quitting smoking gives you resilience and impetus to tackle any other problems and issues you might have or that come along in life. Maybe you have other issues smoking has concealed that are thwarting your happiness, your contentedness. You must commit to your quit if you want to quit and you must commit to yourself and your well-being to find your Joy.1 point
