  2. Congratulations @Sslip cos Sslippidy Dooh Dah, Sslippidy Ay... my oh my your 11 months today! Well done on being 11 months smoke free. What an amazing journey you have had and how far have you come from the nicotine junky who smoked, chewed nrt gum and vaped all at the same time. I still can't believe the levels of nicotine you were floody your body with and you virtually quit cold turkey. You have an amazing quit, and you have been giving back since the very beginning. Thanks for staying the course and the support you off on and off the boards to the others here. 1 month to go and you will be on that Lido Deck so pack your bags.

  4. This topic is hilarious ....and ohhhh so true!! if I was a single guy and really had a say, I would most likely be "under"... Somehow, that just seems "right" to me... But I seriously don't care, as long as it's available when needed! however... im not single... none of the women in the house could ever state why "over" was the correct way, (or that there even IS a correct way!), but since they had the numbers on me, I chose a different battle to fight...lol when I put a new roll on....it's under... It soon gets switched around.. And Cbdave is right... When the girls were younger, they would give a tug on that roll and didn't tear it off until it quit spinning...and they would give it quit the tug!!..so...the harder the roll "spun" the more mileage we got from each one!... He girls have all grown up and have homes of their own, but my wife still, buys it by the 24 pack!...some habits are hard to break!

  12. Hi Kate and welcome to your forever quit! I hope you can put some of the things you have learned from looking into the impulse control issue to use with this quit. You will have a lot of people here to support you as you move forward so please use this forum as much as you need to. Of course we also have an SOS page that has been very effective for many should you ever need it. There is even a thread on that page called Pre-respond To Your Own SOS. There you can write a meaningful message to yourself about why you should never give in again and you can always go there in an instant to read it should you be having a weak moment. It's a great resource. It sounds like you really want this quit and you are prepared for it as much as any of us can be so jump right in, pledge NOPE every day and lean on us here for support because that's what we are here for

  13. @Kate18, you can quit even if you still desire to smoke. I did. I had to! I equated it to the desires I've had throughout my life, like I still want to ride dirt bikes, but know I can't anymore. I still want to jump over people on a pogo stick but know I can't anymore. I looked at it like things that I outgrew and smoking was one of them. I still have days i would like to smoke but know I can't anymore..... As long as you're ready to quit, you can quit.... I did

  14. That is the perfect description of what an addict is and that is what we all are. We all had those same issues in coming to terms with quitting smoking. I see you have made yourself a ticker and I am hoping you are finally joining us in your quit. We are here to guide you through this journey. Kate, the first couple of weeks are difficult but you can do it. Once you have gotten the nicotine out of your system, you just redirect your smoking thoughts. Keep your dad at the forefront of your thoughts. Through him you have seen the results of this addiction. Read as much as you can on this site and watch the videos. Read the emotions of others who have committed to quitting. Be sure and make your NOPE pledge everyday. It may seem silly but it works. Sweetie, you can do this!

  16. For what it's worth, I voted "over." No real reason, it's just how I've always put the roll on. The real reason I'm posting on this thread is for the toilet humor...

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
