  2. Congratulations @MLMR for being smoke free for 2 whole months. Well done, your little baby quit is growing so nicely. Its wonderful to share this journey with you and also see you already giving back to those coming behind. So rewards are due, celebrations should be had, hope you do something amazing to celebrate your milestone.

  4. Thanks all! Glad these first two months are over, now I'm heading towards 1 quarter of that Lido deck. And I'll be going out for dinner tonight, so don't worry about that treat. Gotta get back to work quick, but will carry this tingling proud feeling with me today. Oh and this gif is a bit like me, after two months: colourful and happy. And a bit more voluptuous than I'm used to. And that's ok because first things first etc. Ahum. Yes.

  7. Good morning NOPErs... today is a mixed bag of goods, so while I sit here listening to the bloody magpies in the park (so wont be going over there for a few months, its swoopin season) I'm wondering just what I should shout out... there is nut day, but figured we already have enough nuts on board the QT without givin' them a special day.. then there is Smart is Cool, well of course it is... IT IS ALSO CAPS LOCK DAY, A DAY WHERE WE PROTEST THE USE OF CAPS LOCK IN COMMUNICATIONS AS RUDE AND OBNOXIOUS BY USING CAPS LOCK ALL DAY...well that's just plain silly.... and so we are left with Stutter Awareness Day, we have a few stutterers in my family, luckily a few years of therapy has seen them all overcome there affliction (unless you get them riled up and agro) so there is hope but life isn't easy with a stutter. So when I NOPE be sure to know I do it stutter free.... NOPE ... cos I've said it and I will live it... Not One Puff Ever!!

  10. Hey @MLMR the view from the 4 month deck is quite awesome, you can just see the trees turning that beautiful shade of brown. You're gonna be here sooner than you reckon, considering the phenomenal way you've busted that two month milestone. Way to go!!!

  11. The moment I logged in today, I was searching for this post, and man did this legitimately light my day up Thank you each and every one of you, people a million miles away, who've helped me through some weird days and supported me throughout my quit. Very honestly, I feel quite close to this forum than I've felt with some people in my life. The unceasing support and camaraderie is only upped by the level of positivity that I see here. It's so so awesome to get to 4 months. I did have a fabulous Saturday, as I spent that with my mum (her belated birthday celebration) , we watched a movie, she shopped (using my card:P) and then we had a nice meal. So it was an amazing day. She doesn't know I used to smoke (since I only smoked at work) and only when she wasn't in the house, then at home, but I was certainly conscious of the milestone and celebrated it nonetheless. The old nico demon keeps calling out now and then, in fact mostly in happy times just nudging me and say saying, just one, with that drink, just like the old times... Well no sirree, I am not going back to the old times, because that was the old me...the new me doesn't smoke, not one puff ever!!! Thank you once again my QT family...I wouldn't have gotten here without the support of all of you.

  17. I have just seen the BBC reporting that Phillip Morris the manufacturers of Marlboro are advising Smokers in the UK to Quit smoking cigarettes. But they are advising them to take up vaping or e cigs. Its hard to believe that they are trying to recruit people to other forms of smoking to keep their business going. Im not sure they should be allowed to do it. https://www.bing.com/news/search?q=Philip+Morris+Quit+Smoking&qpvt=philip+morris+quit+smoking&FORM=EWRE

  20. Good morning NOPErs and welcome to Mole Day... well between 6.02am and 6.02pm it is Mole Day... now you might think this has something to do with those blind little rat things known to breed just so they can have a food source during winter, yep they eat their young, but NOPE.... Mole Day is one for the nerds, chem nerds that is... Mole Day celebrates Avogadro’s Number (6.02 x 1023). Huh???... well for those who didn't do chem or who slept through chem or who left school and never thought of chem and periodic tables again... a MOL is a unit of measure in chemistry, it is how one measures the mass of a molecule. Its really important to know this if you are wanting to make things that go boom.... or pass your end of year chemistry exam... For a given molecule, one mole is a mass (in grams) whose number is equal to the atomic mass of the molecule. For example, the water molecule has an atomic mass of 18, therefore one mole of water weighs 18 grams. An atom of neon has an atomic mass of 20, therefore one mole of neon weighs 20 grams. In general, one mole of any substance contains Avogadro’s Number of molecules or atoms of that substance. This relationship was first discovered by Amadeo Avogadro (1776-1858) and he received credit for this after his death. So thank you Amadeo for coming up with your special number... it was so much for fun 6 months of my life... never to be thought of again until now. Starting your day with conveluted chemisty constructs or starting it with a smoke.... Both are a NOPE .... cos even in chem speak its still has power.

  22. gee thanks for the warning there @Cbdave .... the picture was enough. So funny story about me and spiders... many years ago I was sitting on the train, all dressed up in me fancy office clothes reading the news paper in peak hour melbourne... so by stop 3 standing room only, I'm about 3 pages in, I turn the page and see a huge giant picture of a mouse spider and some poor bugger in NSW who's yard is infested by them... its a picture... I scream like a lunatic, stand up, throw the paper down the train carriage and start doing the spider dance you know where you brush yourself off and shake and hyperventilate.... about 10 seats away a bloke yells out... "Herald Sun, Page 9?.... Its a Picture Love, sit down".... who carriage laughed and I had another 16 stops til I got off.

  23. That is ridiculous.... I am beginning to hate vaping and e cigs as much as I hate normal cigs. I am not sure that they are as prolific here yet. So this story is a bit sad, and I agree I don't think they should be allowed to do it either. On the plus side, I heard in the NEWS here that Britain now has more ex-smokers than they have current smokers... but I'm not sure if vapers are included in that figure. Here is an article on the smoking numbers and smokers being far outnumbered by ex-smokers.... way to go Great Britain... https://www.theguardian.com/society/2016/sep/20/number-of-uk-smokers-falls-to-lowest-level

  26. My 28 year old son came out for a visit and we went for a hike yesterday. Over 3200 feet of elevation in 9.2 miles. He was absolutely wiped out when we reached the highest point and I was ready to go again. He took this picture and declared: Dad is king of the mountain. Made me feel pretty damn good since for decades I was always the one on the sidelines smoking a butt.

  27. Efficiency. By the time I finish my trimming (weed eater) work and mowing I've spent about 2-2.5 hours working in the yard. I don't hate yardwork, but I don't want to commit a full day to it either. Plus, I like riding my mower. Gives me time to think and be left alone. Admittedly, I didn't look over everyone's tax returns before posting that. However, from simple observation I think we can safely say that wealthy people are more prone to hire out manual labor jobs than the general population. Or...Who knows? Perhaps Bill Gates spent a portion of his weekend changing the clutch on his lawnmower as well. Seems unlikely, but...

  29. I've just heard this ....Words fail me....they are nothing short of murdering B*******s...... Somewhere down the line ....e cigs will be proven to kill folks too.... It's great news Britain has more Quitters...than Nicotine smokers...

  30. Gday You'd think these companies would also want another world war to come along to boast thier sales as well..... Not satisfied that we have figured out Nicotine and its various delivery systems actually kill the customer .... funny about that. C

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
