  1. Was missing in action this weekend and no internet to nope with. Camping in Amish Country. Happy to say the only smoke I experienced was that around the campfire! I even survived the nerves of steel as my husband drove the RV. He just does not understand that I am the most experienced driver!? Sharing some pictures of a happy, healthier me and of course my babies!

  4. Hi everyone! Thank you all so much for your support - I certainly needed it when & after I posted. I am doing better than I was and I DIDN'T have a cigarette! (Yippee!). I did have a horrid couple of days and I get very impatient - I gave up smoking because I knew I had to so I could start getting into some sort of exercise and start to lose a terrible amount of weight I've put on over the last 3 years. Very tough 3 years I've had and I have to learn that it's going to take time to get where I want to go - I've really done very well so far, with help from the universe/etc who/whatever I think. I just get very impatient and I want to be where I want to get to NOW!! In the words of Dave Graney (Australian musician) - "You want to be there, but you don't want to travel" I saw the incredible lack of energy I experienced over those few days as a road block I couldn't pass. Hopefully now I have and thanks to you all who have helped me greatly ?

  6. Good morning fellow NOPErs. I hope you all have a lovely smoke free day. Today, down under, we celebrate Meals On Wheels day. So to all the volunteers, and there are over 75,000 of you who cook the meals, and deliver them to our elderly we say thank you. The cost of 1 year of meals is the same as 1 day in hospital so even the gift of your time to give some old coots the independence to stay at home is a gift you are also giving to the rest of society too. For those who don't know the meals on wheels delivery ladies and gents don't just drop of a meal they do a welfare check and also give a daily social contact to elderly clients who are often housebound, isolated and alone. NOPE....cos grandma hated smoking, just sorry she missed a smoke free me. TOPIC OF THE DAY: toe tappers

  10. I want a smoke free life because I am sick of feeling like a junkie. From spending too much money, secret behavior, and worrying about my health. Lol no I wish I could do a primal scream but I am in an apartment.I laugh because the idea of my neighbors responding to a primal scream makes me laugh. At least my craving is starting to go away.

  12. Hello NOPErs ... today is Our Don's birthday, he would have been 110 this year... oh and it is International Bat Night .... so I did some checking and even though he obviously deserves is it isn't a night for the whole world to celebrate @BAT ... it is a night dedicated to the awareness of bats and to spread a positive image of them... now, if the furry, flying freaks stayed out of our tree and stopped stirring the dogs and shittin on the cars maybe I would think they were nicer than the media paints them... but... eewgh...at least one thing they will never be is as bad as smokes, spose they have that going for them... NOPE ... not today, not tomorrow, not ever, forever!

  15. OK.... primal scream is doable... you just need to do it into a pillow or cushion, just make sure you don't smother yourself . It is so good you posted an SOS....shows you want to fight to protect this quit. You can do this and your reasons are the type that make for a sticky quit. Remember you have 100% control. Controlled breathing through the quit is great. Also something to distract yourself, in the first few weeks of my quit I had a memory game on my phone, you know those card match ones, it was timed to run for 5mins and because you had to focus on remembering where the card matches were the crave couldn't get purchase in your mind... now i use minesweeper if I need.... every time, by the time the games were up the crave had passed. It was part of a free quit smoking app. The quit apps are good, because they give you little sms rewards... you have been smoke free for 1 hour, you have been smoke free for 24 hours.... you have not smoked 50 smokes.... it really does help. OK... blood sugar... suck a barley sugar or some such as this helps also. But know you are in the worst of it now... it gets easier.... you just need to ride out the next few days. You can do this, you want to do this, you want to take back control of your life, you don't want some stupid addiction telling you what to do. .

  16. Take a shower and sing yell or bark. Showers are good for craves. You are doing great Daisy.

  17. The cravings will always go away as long as you don't light up. They are tough but they don't last forever. Great job in fighting through this.

  18. That desire to stop feeling like a junkie is a great start, it is about you being in positive control of your life. Surprisingly the money side of things seldom comes into it as a good reason to quit, simply because we always seem to manage to get by and if it is mostly about that and circumstances change, well then there goes most of the motivation. Focus on that control you want, focus on hating that feeling that nicotine is leading you a not so merry dance and that cigarettes are going to damage you in some way no matter what lies we tell ourselves about feeling well. This is just the way to go about this Daisy. Proud of you right now!

  20. Good job on posting, Daisy. Yes, those early craves can be tough but they don't last forever. Fight through this. You will only be miserable if you light up. Everytime you fight through a situation like this and don't smoke, your quit grows stronger.

  21. Hi Daisy, Craves only last a very short time. You can time them and they won't seem so powerful. It is only a few minutes. You quit smoking ! Now you can gather your wits and power through. Do anything but smoke. Where are you ? Can you practice primal screaming ?

  22. Daisywheels, hi and good on you for posting. You see the kind of crap cigarettes deal you. Right here, right now is the kind of shit the addiction pulls. First of all, plenty of cold water, the colder the better and you need to learn to breathe in the kind of way that mimics how you would have done. As Boo mentioned the deep breath in 4 seconds, hold 4 seconds and long, long exhale will help. What are your reasons for wanting a smoke free life?

  23. He should be somewhere tropical with the missus celebrating his move to a new house and his retirement... although when pigs usually retire they become ham or a roast so maybe we should worry.... NAH.... is honky dory and will be back after his holiday, and after he sorts out a new lap top / computer because for some strange reason his work wouldn't let him keep his lappy. Few more weeks @Naughtius Maximus few more weeks and then he will be back.

  28. Just checking in on you Christa! I hope you smoking thoughts have quietened down today! Sometimes, I would just yell out "Im so glad I quit smoking!" when in a situation I would have normally chose to smoke instead of deal with. I'm all for positive reinforcement! Take some time for you today, give your baby quit some love and attention. (It's now as much of a part of your life as smoking was.) I hope you have a good smoke free day today!!

  29. Struggler, it's really important at this time to have patience with yourself, be kind to yourself and treat yourself well. Try not to take on too much at once. You will have more time on your hands when your quit is solid, you will feel physically better. In the meantime, just give yourself the respect and kudos you deserve for kicking the cigarettes. Glad you are feeling a little better today and here's to more days like this.

  32. I quit in October 2013, (almost five years ago) and lurked at QSMB and here on QTrain for nearly a year. Then, on this date four years ago, I joined this wonderful, wonderful place. I still have everyone who participates here to thank for their wit, wisdom and whimsy. Thank you for quitting smoking and being an inspiration to my world, to The World. Thank you very much.

  35. Heard him rock that at the Espy... great Melbourne muso... Oh have to hunt out my Dave Graney & The Coral Snake CDs now... thanks for the memory jolt. So as Dave also said... "the word is nah" (but lets make it NOPE)... you are doing so well with this quit... you will have other days like that but each time one comes it is less powerful than the last until... no more days like that no more. "You Need To Suffer"... but soon you will be through that and you will be celebrating your freedom.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
