  1. Morning NOPErs... just like every friday its POETS day... but it is also International Lions Day... it is Duran Duran Appreciation Day too but I'm pretty sure the only one who still appreciates them is Sslip... So International Lions Day is not to celebrate the some obscure Rugby Team... but to celebrate the majestic lion and bring awareness to its dwindling numbers. NOPE ... cos I deserve to be smoke free.

  6. I made it... yay... rough day all round... so for what's left of the day lets celebrate Book Lovers Day... or to use the correct term bibliophiles. So for Book Lovers Day, pick up a book and have a read. NOPE ... cos I read the books and I have the power. Topic of the Day ... inspirations and unsung heros

  10. Congratulations @Sslip for being smoke free for 7 months. Well done on having a such a great quit happening. You have such a strong base now to build the rest of your smoke free life. Thanks for all you do around the boards to support others. So, make sure you do something today to celebrate, preferably not CoS, and reward yourself with a much deserved treat.

  14. Congratulations @Rosewothorne for being smoke free for 4 months. Well done Rose for being a third of the way to your first year of freedom. You are doing so well with your quit and must be starting to feel the benefits. Make sure you reward yourself for all your wonderful work in protecting your quit.

  16. Hope all went well with your specialist appointment... don't forget we are here either in the threads or om if you need to talk it out, not bottling up of things (cos thats so not the the pot calling the kettle there is it).. as you have said, its better to talk it out, takes away the power.

  17. How you going Linda? Keeping you in my thoughts. I walked our dogs a fair bit when I first quit... we have a 9 year old bitsa who looks like a black lab puppy, then we have a German Shepherd who has adhd and is mental... and then our baby is a Dogue de Bordeaux (Turner & Hooch dog)... who is supposed to be the dumbest but is the only one with any training that has stuck... problem with Sarge (the bordeaux) is he has just turned one, is over 40kg but is a big baby and thinks he is a lap dog. Hope your hanging in there and doing OK.

  18. I had no idea--and I think few smokers do--of how the benefits would continue to emerge many years after the quit. The quit helped/forced me to develop psychological resources that I still draw on today when I face different kinds of challenges. Relatedly, I'm more patient, humble, and humane, and these things have made me a better friend, spouse, father, and teacher. Now, I'm also more than a decade and a half older than I was when I quit, and I guess I'd hope that I'd grow as a person in such time regardless of quitting smoking; however, I'm convinced that the quit has directly impacted much of these positive changes--especially since I regularly use explicit imagery of my quit success to inspire or calm myself. 21. May look into this. I`ve had some shoulder problems lately from 14 years lifting in electrical work. I`m about ready to retire (68) but a drummer I work with on Sundays has said these type of lifts have really helped him and he`s no spring chicken. Late 50`s I believe. So thanks for the post. Best wishes.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
